About
Sedlescombe is England's oldest organic vineyard, first established 1979 by Roy Cook. It's also home to the oldest Biodynamic vines in England, first certified in 2010. Sedlescombe is also believed to be the first English vineyard to win an international award for an English still red wine (2013). Set deep in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and in the heart of '1066 Country' there are stunning countryside views from the vineyard and lots to see and do in the surrounding area. Individual visitors and small groups are welcome to pop in for a self-guided stroll through the vines & woodland, or why not pre-book a guided tour and tasting and check out the catering options available! All tours include a tasting of Sedlescombe's range of international award-winning wines, and wine can be purchased from the cellar door.

- Getaway5788781 contributionThe best wine tasting day we've experienced... and we've been to a few!Beautiful venue. She arrived early so had a coffee in the stunning sunlit, rustic dining area. Immediately the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We had a welcome drink, toured the grapes themselves, learned a lot. It's so different to other places we've been, felt more personal. We tastes many wines, including sparkling, which I think we do best in this country. My husband and I sat out in the courtyard for lunch, this incredible ploughman selection turned up for us, honestly it was the best we've ever had. We enjoyed another glass of wine with lunch and got to know the locals and Sharon the main lady at the vineyard. We didn't want to leave... it was truly fantastic! Thank you all at Sedlescombe xxThank you so much for taking the time to write us a review, we really appreciate it! Absolutely delighted to see that you had such a lovely time on your tour with us, and that you loved the lunch and wines too. We hope you're able to come and visit us at the vineyard again soon. - ladyvgw48 contributionsWonderful lunch! My husband and I popped up for lunch today and had the nicest time! The ploughman's lunch was delicious and the glass of bubbles with it lead to us buying a bottle to bring home! Such a beautiful setting to visit! It may have been a cold day but there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was toasty warm inside! Kaitlyn (hope I've spelt that right) was a delight and Sharon was telling us all about future events they have planned. We will definitely be back - and not to just replenish the wine rack!!Hi Vicky. Thank you so much, for such a fantastic review we do appreciate it. We are so pleased that you had a wonderful time! We look forward to seeing you both again soon. - WillTWatts6 contributionsWine Tour - very professional and interestingHad this bought for us as a present would recommend a visit here very interesting tried all 5 wines Everything very green, ethical and organic very enjoyable presentation. Was quite small (as organic) but very professional and interesting. It ended up a personal wine tour / presentation, we were the only customers that day (very rainy) 😊 it included a cream teaThank you so much for taking the time to write us a review Will, we really appreciate it. Delighted to see that you had a fab time on your tour and that the weather didn't put a dampener on your day! We hope to see you at the vineyard again soon! - Eloise B1 contributionA personable experience with great wine!!We came to the local area in our motorhome for the vineyards and this one didn’t disappoint! We were greeted by Emily (we think, usually works in the office) who was so accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly, we ordered two flights and could chose the flight (rather than your normal, ‘get what your given’) which was great as my wife is rose and English sparking and I’m red and sparking, most vineyards we have to switch, but here they accommodated for us separately on our preference. Emily sat us in the main bar which had a tour going on, we sat quietly in the corner and listened to the brilliant tour guide Sharon, we wish we had of been earlier as she was great! When the tour come to a close we had ordered more drinks and Sharon came over to introduce herself (and upsell 3.5l bottles and magnums of wine) ….we we obviously had to oblige ;) I have to say we have been to many vineyards, kingscote included (which we learn is also owned by the same people) but this place was personable, friendly and just a great experience! We went back the following day to collect all our purchases (as went arrived on push bike!!) and again had a wonderful morning, hosted by Sharon and even enjoyed a cheeky glass before we head home. Needless to say we will be booking the tour in the next week or so and have a few friends we will be back to stay at the air b&b on site. Seddlescombe you have one of the most wonderful, personable teams that are a credit to your vineyards, it has been a pleasure….. until the next time. Eloise & KellyHi Eloise & Kelly. WOW thank you so so much for this wonderful review, and thank you for taking the time to write it, we really do appreciate it. - MamaHoggBexhill-on-Sea, United Kingdom2 contributionsA fabulous day 😊We had the BEST time! As we walked from the car park down the hill to the venue, we were stunned at how fabulous the place looked… and once inside we weren’t disappointed coz it was just gorgeous. My daughter had booked a tour for my birthday and tour leader Sharon was exceptional… her knowledge and delivery was professional and entertaining and the wines were actually divine… Sharon assured us we would not have a headache afterwards and so far that’s 100% the case, despite having bought a few extra bottles and consumed at least one once we got home! Thank you for a really great day… we will definitely be back with other members of the family!!Hi there, thank you so much for taking the time out to leave us a reply, we really do appreciate it. - Clare S2 contributionsInformative and enjoyable with some interesting wineWe had a vineyard tour, wine tasting an D.C. lunch as a gift. We had a variety of wines to choose, especially liked the sparkling. Jamie was our host and was knowledgeable with a dry sense of humour. Friends bought me a birthday voucher for the deluxe vineyard tour and lunch at Sedlescombe.
It's an inspiring and fascinating place set in the beautiful and tranquil rolling Sussex countryside. The vineyard tour, expertly conducted by Adele, explained the biodynamic and organic processes that produce the wine.
We then got to taste the wine: Adele talked us through 2 whites, 1 rose and a red, plus the sparkling - which I have to say is probably one of the best I have ever had.
After that came a delicious ploughmans lunch with local cheeses and homemade chutney.
The staff were all lovely, charming and knowledgeable, and the vineyard itself was so beautiful.
We bought some wines to take home, and treated ourselves to two of the exquisite small-size glasses too.

We were invited by our friends to the vineyard for a tour, a wine tasting, and lunch.
The tour was conducted by Chris, and it was very good.
Then came the wine tasting (by which time it was 2.30), and we were starving at that point.
I have been to many wine tasting, and I have always been given crackers, or a bit of bread, or some kind of snack.
We were given nothing.
Finally the lunch came...in a deep cardboard box.
It consisted of two bits of cheese, a stale roll, a bit of pickle, a few leaves of lettuce, and a couple of tomatoes (no dressing of course, and it would have been difficult to dress the salad in a cardboard box.
It looked so cheap and uninspiring, I felt so sorry for our friends as they were so embarrassed.
I am a tour guide, and I was seriously thinking about incorporating the visit into one of my tours, but my clients would linch me if I presented them with a very poor ploughman’s in a cardboard box.
What a shame!

We were All treated to a "Highly Informative Vine Yard Experience" The Ploughman`s Lunch along with Hot Drink(s) was well received. The Weather was "Inclement. " Our Host`s" tailored the the visit to suit the Weather condition(s), for which we commend them both (L & E) The Site was well presented & "spotless." The Knowledge both of the Product(s) & the Vine Yard was Outstanding. The "Tasting(s) were enjoyable but then these Wine Product(s) are not the normal "off the Shelf" purchase(s). I recommend a "Tour & Tasting."

Really interesting and informative bespoke wine tasting for our group. We were treated to some really tasty wine in relaxed surroundings, not at all rushed so we could properly enjoy the experience. I’m sure we’ll return! Thank you.

Fantastic insight into biodynamic wine making. Interesting guide gave us a tour around the vineyard. Wine tasting followed on a lovely terrace and served a tasty afternoon tea. Great afternoon and the sparkling wine is much better than many champagnes I’ve tasted - best British sparkling by a long way

Dear LokiLaaLaa
Wow, that's high praise indeed! What a lovely review - thank you for such glowing feedback. I will make sure the rest of the team get the praise they deserve as a result of your comments.
I have to admit, I have been known to relax with a glass of our wine on the terrace a couple of times myself and I agree with you - it's just a perfect view. Brilliant to learn that you found the Biodynamic aspect interesting and that the end product impressed you so much. We can take orders online via our website and deliver directly to you, so grab another bottle or two whenever you feel like it.
Kind regards,
Stanley

Excellent, relaxing and informative few hours spent here today. Our tour guide, Jemma, was very knowledgeable and friendly, taking time to answer our questions and made it a really lovely experience. We only booked with one days notice but they were happy to accommodate. We had the ploughman’s lunch afterwards, which was delicious, sitting outside in the sunshine. We bought three bottles of wine, but there was no pressure to purchase anything. A perfect afternoon!

We had been given a voucher (at Christmas) for a tour with afternoon tea. We booked ourselves in just after lock-down and were fortunate enough to arrive on a day of blue skies and sunshine. The fabulous new buildings housing the shop and tasting rooms looked amazing and, having arrived early, we thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the lovely terrace with a glass of bubbles. The tour itself was interesting, never having been to an organic vineyard before. We enjoyed the comparisons with some of the larger vineyards we have visited. Afternoon tea was very good. We liked the wines, which is after all what we were there for. We returned the next day to collect our order. It was raining and the tour group were having their tasting indoors that day. Beautiful building of course but we were very happy to have been able to enjoy the terrace the previous day. Just yesterday we had a glass of red from Sedlescombe - really nice wine, light but full of flavour. No sulphites of course which is a bonus.

A "must do" if you're in the area.
Adele gave an informative tour followed by wine tasting and afternoon tea.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the wines were fabulous. We would recommend this activity to anybody who has an interest in and wants to learn more about the "organic" wine production.

Beautiful site and great tour by our excellent guide Sharon. We were a party of eight (two families with 16+ teenagers) and we just showed up at the vineyard, no booking in advance. Sharon gave us a warm welcome and took us around the vineyard and we had the tasting during the walk. Interesting hearing about biodynamic farming, how the vineyard was started and that England is an up and coming wine country. Really nice wines and beautiful scenery. Bought a box of wine and cider.

We popped in to have a little tasting on Sunday, we didn’t book ahead but were welcomed in.
The tasting allowed us to chose 3 wines each, we were sat down & given water in their delightful tasting room.
We were told plenty of information about the wines and our the samples were laid out in their recommended order to try.
We wandered through the vines a little as it was a beautiful day.
Lovely place. So glad I bought some to have again at home.
