Most times I visited Bexhill seafront I could never get beyond the distraction of the de la Warr Pavilion and the colonnade (!) and so this time I was staying for a week and I thought the seafront was just right. It was clean and tidy-looking overall (no peeling paint on the beach-front railings as you can find sometimes, as they are unpainted aluminium or similar, no litter on the beach etc). There were plenty of wooden bench seats and at least three covered shelters made of the same light wood in a contemporary style, and the exotic foliage is notable along the front. There is one kiosk selling hot & cold drinks and ice cream and, I think, a second larger kiosk that cafe selling hot food such as fish & chips. This beach-front area is short (say, compared to the three miles alongside Eastbourne front) which was just right for me, as a walk from the Pavilion to the 'end' of that part (where the road turns up into Richmond Road). All the people on the front were respectful, in that they were keeping their dogs on a lead and the cyclists were not suddenly appearing right behind you! My favourite thing to do, though, was probably to sit with a coffee on the Pavilion balcony, watching the sea and sky across the top of the cupolas of the colonnade. It is a nice seafront to walk along during the evenings, as it was very bright and sunny until 9 pm in June. I do realise I was there outside of school holiday period and the seafront may well be a lot busier with families in July and August; when the tide is right out, there is quite a wide stretch of sand between the sea and the pebble beach.

Our first ever visit to Bexhill and enjoyable.
Pebble beach with groynes and no waves today and warm and sunny.
You can enjoy a walk with the crowds or noise and we parked centrally near the beach very easily and only £5.90 for the day.
Quiet with no mad folk or beggars sleeping rough that we saw and clean and tidy all over.
Compare this to busy Brighton and its yobs and theres no comparison if you just want a quiet day on the beach.

A familiar landmark from childhood and a great way to start the day. Walk along the seafront on the promenade up to the De la Warr Pavilion and look out towards Eastbourne and Beachy Head. Dog walkers, joggers, cyclists and locals will say good morning and have a chat. The pebble beach, rock pools and sea air are always refreshing first thing in the morning.

Staying in Eastbourne we ventured to Bexhill on the 99 bus mainly to visit the DeLeWarr pavilion but we're charmed by the adjacent section of this small town. There were bakers, banks, odd shops and wide pavements that encouraged dawdling. We fell instantly in love with this charming place and the courteous and kind people we met...and the Pavilion was well worth a visit too. Set on a clean and uncrowded beach with two cafes we became so relaxed that we almost missed the nearbye museum. Don't..it is as delightful as the rest of Eddie Izzard's home town, especially the superb model railway

We visited Bexhill Beach as the tide we going out. As the waters receded, from the stony beach, sand and rocks were exposed. On a hot mid-week July day nowhere was too busy – we enjoyed playing on the beach, visiting the De La Warr pavilion, and being a human sundial by the Colonnade.
The towers of the Colonnade (situated below the De La Warr Pavilion) can be seen from almost the entire two-mile length of the promenade. Whilst we found out later that there was plenty of parking just of the seafront, we parked at the De La Warr pavilion where you paid for a full day, then re-scanned your Credit Card when leaving and it adjusted the charge for the period you were there.

Our lunch today @ WKOS was the first since the arrival .We were blessed with optimal weather enabling lunch for two on the very pleasant terrace.
The food was excellent.we shared the Fishermans Plate as a starter .One serving is more than enough for two persons. Our main courses were steamed cod and and sea bass. Both delicious with well cooked side dishes
The service provided by Eline and Sebastian was top!

This part of Bexhill Beach is reached through a decorated railway bridge. Although a shingle beach, which is not very wheelchair or puishchair friendly, there is a promenade behind the beach which is shared by walkers, cyclists and joggers and which is good for walking. Although mainly shingle, sand does come to light when the tide goes out and there are some rocks for climbing and sheltering behind, if the wind gets too much. Parking is available at a large shopping area not too far away and another amenity the beach has is a very good dog friendly cafe near to the railway bridge.

It’s been seriously hot the week we’ve been down here so we only ventured to the beach on the cooler days.
To this day, I’ve no idea where the public bathrooms are, luckily we weren’t too far from our hotel.
There are a just few vendors selling drinks and ice creams etc so suggest that you position yourself within a short walk of those.
You WILL need shoes to walk on this beach. To attempt to walk barefoot is asking for trouble as the pebbles of various sizes and shapes are not kind to your feet!
However, the waves are low and relaxing, the atmosphere peaceful and this place has definitely escaped the litter bugs which is wonderful.
Would we return, absolutely!

I would rather keep Bexhill Beach a secret. It has beatiful all-year-round sunsets, it is seldom crowded (well, at least when there is no pandemic) and my dogs are allowed on Cooden Beach in the summer as well as winter.
This is why a townie like me loves living here.
So much for it being a secret!

Unfortunately, the tide was in the day we were there, so all that there was of the beach was the shingle and pebbles by the promenade. When the tide is out, however, there is sand because there are notices warning of soft, deep sand. Still, the promenade behind the beach is good for dog walking (not allowed on the central part of the beach for a number of months of the year) but you have to be aware of cyclists.

Being new in the area..how good is the Policing here..my ill/frail husband was racially abused verbally called names and F word x20! Called 999 and no feed back from the Police until now ..incedent took place Aug 28..he happened to be son-in-law of our neighbor who is so .. so according to all the neighborhood...yes, I rated Bexhill to be excellent beach but did not realize the other side of the story..how is it to actually live here?

I have not regretted downsizing and moved here as the place looks serene, dog friendly beach ..morning walks are fantastic..but be weary there are yobs, racial abuser and like my my husband who no longer can protect himself for being ill..then no choice but to run indoors and lock yourself in..not safe at all..but a lovely, beautiful Bexhill for short visit and trip only! My opinion based on my latest experience....

Are you allowed to put tents on the beach during daytime/evening? Not to camp overnight, just for some privacy and storage?
Written August 5, 2016
Some people use the pop up portible tents but remember beach is pebbles not sand.
Written August 6, 2016
Yes, on parts of the Beach; no on other parts at certain times of the year, mainly the central area. There are ample signs saying where dogs are allowed and there are many, many people who walk their dogs freely on the beach. There are also many bins for disposing of dog mess.
