There are lots of things to do in Battle. If you intend to visit the Abbey, park in the car park by the side of the abbey as this offers a discount to the parking charge when you purchase entry tickets. The you can walk up the charming high street with its tea shops and wide variety of curio shops and small museums. Take your time before returning to the Abbey for a tour - guided ones are most interesting.

Battle is an historic area and it's best feature is the battle Abbey and battlefield.
The town's shopping area is good too. Plenty of free parking. Great independently owned shops. Of course some gift shops. Bakery , butchers , cafes and art shops .
Certainly work a look around.
Spend money and save local shops.

Love driving through this town every day and getting to explore the little spots.
Lots of places for coffee. Lots of independent shops. You can get everything you need here.
Particularly enjoy winter shopping nights! Mulled wine and sweets everywhere!

Great for charity shops and England's history. Time team discovered that the Battle of Hastings missed the surrounding 'battlefields' but seemingly took place under what is now the roundabout!!!

The High Street in Battle East Sussex is lined with buildings that have not changed for many years. This gives the High Street a charm all of its own.
The best way to view this is to start at the modern end of the road that leads from a 4 way junction, and head for the Abbey. As you travel along the road you will see shops selling all goods some of the shops are unique and only found in this area. The High Street does have some of the major companies trading but the majority are indepndent traders who are very helpful and want to make your visit one you will remember.
There are a number of cafe's and resturants surving a range of foods.
As you reach the end of the High Street you will see the Abbey in front of you and from this direction you will get a great vies of this magnificent building.
May I suggest that you first walk along the High Street to the Abbey and then return and have a more detailed look ate the individual shops as you need to see the buildings in there glory.
There is no cost sor this visit except the cost of enjoying buying from some of these shops.
