Description:

Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits...

Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits one of the most modern breweries in the UK. Over the past few years the brewery has undergone a complete refurbishment with the replacement of the brewstream being the most recent update. This state-of-the-art installation recovers 100% of the heat and steam from each brew, 90% of which is used to reheat the next. This reduces the amount of gas needed during the brewing process by 30%.The new system can also brew larger batches in less time, making more efficient use of raw materials. It is also very efficient in water usage with a ratio of 3.2 pints of water to every pint of beer, compared to the industry average of 8. It even cleans itself and we're trying to programme it to make the tea too. But don't just take our word for it, book a tour, come and meet one of the brewery team and see it all for yourself. Please book ahead online for by calling our booking line to avoid disappointment.

My husband and I visited the Adnams brewery for my birthday this week and we did both the brewery and distillery tours in the same day. The tour guides were pleasant and knew their stuff and it was really interesting to see the equipment in action. The only downside for us was the small amounts of both beer and spirits... More

You get a real appreciation of the fragrance and taste of the beers when you get to drink them. You need to be mobile for the ups and downs of steps over the vats. The history and modernisation all brought together culminating in a generous tasting session. Best not to drive either especially if you tag onto the distillery tour's... More

Its a while since we did the tour but we enjoyed our time looking around the brewery and especially sampling the drinks. Its actually a surprising small operation but we had the pleasure of being shown around by a lovely chap who told us he had been a driver of the brewery's horse drawn drays that they only stopped using... The tour guide was both knowledgeable and entertaining, she gave a brief summary of the brewery process and passed round samples of grain and hops to handle and smell. We then embarked on our tour of the brewery, which is where it was a little disappointing as far as I'm concerned, because the brewing process is fully automated there really... More

We were given the tour vouchers as a Christmas present and had a wonderful time. Our tour guide Ross, was interesting and informative, he made the tour fun and relaxed. We began by going around a variety of buildings to gain an insight into the Brewing business, next we visited 'the bar' where we tried numerous beers. We ended in... More

This brewery is one of the most prominent features of Southwold, occupying several large buildings. It's run by a family firm that has been in the town for generations. The buildings look ancient from the outside, but are filled with state-of-the-art equipment inside. Our guide was a very informative, well-spoken lady who knew a great deal about the brewing process... More

This brewery tour of Adnams of Southwold is an interesting one. Our tour guide Christine was very informative. She told us how the brewery started and the history up to the present day. The brewery is laid out in three smallish buildings. Adnams also distills vodka and gin both which have won world awards. The tour lasts about one and... More

If you visit Southwold, then you must take this tour. At £12 is was excellent value for money. Our guide - a lovely girl - Dutch/English was very knowledgeable and imparted so much information but without being too technical. The tour took us through the history of Adnams, some information about different types of hops and grain and then to... More

Tagged along with the boys as the distillery doesn't offer tours on the days we wanted (Friday and Saturday). They felt it wasn't the best brewery tour they'd been on information wise, but our guide was very friendly and knowledgable. Great to get a sense of how much the local community are supported by Adnams. Plenty of beer for tasting,... More

Booked this for my husbands birthday as he loves Gold Beers, really good tour by Ross. Plenty of sample beers after. Very good value for money and Southwold worth a visit.
