Wonderful reserve for bird watching. See the Marsh Harriers coming into roast. It’s a real treat. We visited in October and had a lovely sighting of Bearded Tits. Very diverse reserve. You can walk all the way through onto the beach.

I come to North Norfolk every year for the birdwatching, and Titchwell is usually the highlight. This year I approached the experience with some trepidation, knowing that Covid measures prevented the opening of the big Parrinder hide. I had been tipped off via Twitter that the car park capacity had been reduced to limit the number of visitors, so we always arrived well before the facilities opened up. The cafe offered a limited service - just cold wrapped sweet snacks to go with the tea and coffee, and you had to eat outdoors. Luckily we had a table with umbrella when the heavens opened! The Island and Fen hides were open but were very quiet, apart from when it rained heavily, but the best views were from the trails anyway so the Covid measures didn't have much impact.Plenty of birds, the highlight being the Bearded Reedlings - I managed to get a decent shot of them, so that alone bathes my memory of Titchwell 2020 in a rosy glow. Well done to the staff for managing to walk the Covid tightrope. Titchwell remains my favourite reserve, a place to watch birds and just forget about all the awfulness of the world at the moment. If you've not been before, a word of warning - the loos are in the car park and I can tell you from experience that it's a long way back from the beach! Wish there could be a composting-loo out on the reserve.
