- bruv789Spalding, United Kingdom60 contributionsStepping into yester yearSorry we arrived a little too late for Robert Wolfes performance on the Wurlitzer. It must be 30 years since my last visit here and was surprised that he was still performing and to the same high standard (caught last 5 mins). The crowd had obviously enjoyed it. It's fantastic that these old machines are still working and playing a range of new and old music. The Children loved the carousel .Just a shame kids over 12 are considered adults as this makes it a very expensive place especially when all is not open at the moment.Visited August 2021Written August 22, 2021
- Cromerp189 contributionsMagical Winter WonderlandWe visited the enchanted journey of light today and thought it was so good I’d leave a review.. was gobsmacked to see some of the negative reviews below? We took our 3yr old grandson and he was in awe and enchanted from start to finish.I’m in my 50’s and I felt the same. The display is huge and split into sections each with a different theme. This must have cost a fortune to stage and blew my mind. I’ve never been to the Thursford show but can now see why it sells out year after year. Great value, incredible spectacle and well run. Staff were really polite and happy too which makes it all the more enjoyable. Will definitely go again next year if they do it.Visited December 2020Written December 6, 2020
- BobSt. Neots, United Kingdom209 contributionsChristmassy content gets less every year.Yesterday was my 29th visit to the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. It is an amazing show but, sadly, the Christmassy content seems to reduce year on year and is becoming more of a London Theatre Cabaret show than a Christmas show. The only difference being one would pay a lot more money to see a London Cabaret show. We might go next year for one final visit, haven't decided yet. The other downside is the free for all to get out of the car park after the show. The marshalling staff are extremely efficient and helpful with getting cars in and parked but it is a different story trying to get out. There is no help, no organisation and it is a free for all with those having the strongest nerves to battle their way into moving traffic, coming from all directions, being the winners. It took us over an hour to get out last night.Visited December 2022Written December 23, 2022
- Linda WKing's Lynn, United Kingdom8 contributionsDisgusted!Booked tickets for Light Show in September and took out insurance in case friends could not join us this year in case of predicted second wave of covid. Said if you have to cancel your money would be refunded. All friends are now in Tier 3 and cannot travel and as Norfolk in Tier 2 they could not stay with us anyway. We do not visit Thursford until the 15th Dec so thought they would be able to resell tickets and refund me as I had taken out insurance. I was told there is no refunds and surprise, surprise the insurance does not accept covid19 as a reason to get your money back. It says being in a Tier is not a reason even though when I booked tickets In September the PM had not introduced tier systems until 12th October. This has left a very nasty taste and I do not like being conned. Usually I buy 12 tickets for family to visit the Thursford music show every year but will not be giving them any more of my hard earned cash!Visited December 2019Written November 27, 2020
- Emma N12 contributionsExpensiveThe most expensive £33 we've ever spent. We were literally here for 15 minutes and had seen everything. As the website and leaflets advertise it as a steam museum we were led to believe there would be some steam but no, the engines are static and not fired up. The carousels do look gorgeous but we would have had to wait another hour to go on one (they only run at certain times) so after we'd looked round the museum we left, giving our museum and ride tickets to another family in the queue. We did speak to a member of staff but it didn't get us anywhere.Visited August 2021Traveled with familyWritten August 17, 2021
- Mummy BeanBury St. Edmunds, United Kingdom20 contributionsOverpriced Santa's journey now so much is missingWe have visited Santa's journey multiple times over the years & have always enjoyed the magic. This year however was an overpriced joke. We went into the journey to have notices saying Keep moving! We were unable to stop, look, read or listen to the story as stopping is prohibited! Trying to see the positive side, we said at least we have the small shows on the little stage near the cafe. Came out to find these have also gone, there's just stuffed animals on the stage. No snowing 3D show, no magic show. Therefore we were done in 30 mins. We drove a total of over 3 hours & paid almost £70 for 2 adults & one child for 30 minutes! It's not even worth £10! Avoid especially if you have been before as now its a rip off & a complete let down to how it used to be.Visited December 2022Traveled with familyWritten December 19, 2022

Booking early we had great seats near the front with a wonderful view of the whole, enormous stage. The singing, dancing and costumes were brilliant. The acrobatic acts were superb and the use of the screen so that everyone could see the girl with hula hoops was a wonderful idea. We laughed at the comedian, clapped and sung along - great value for money. Make sure you visit Fantasy Land - even as OAPs we were enthralled. The. light trail was new and we were amazed at the spectacle, although very cold due to the below zero temperatures. We didn’t eat at Thursford, but enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea, which cost less than expected at £2 each. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we have already decided to book for 2023 as soon as the tickets go on sale later this week,Visited December 2022Written December 14, 2022
- 578ChrisNorfolk41 contributionsMagical Christmas Experience for all the familyWow what an amazing event this year. The Thursford Christmas team have once again excelled themselves to create a truly magical Christmas experience despite all the Covid restrictions. The staff were all friendly & informative & my family and I felt very safe with all the enhanced cleaning, sanitizing and crowd organization which has been put in place. The lights, characters, steam engines and winter wonderland were brilliant but that was not all on offer. The grounds of the museum have been transformed into a wonderful world of huge light sculptures. The subtle mood music and sounds which accompany the route through these magnificent sculptures make it a very sensory experience. There is also a traditional style fairground so plenty to do. We were able to have some hot mulled wine after our walk around outside to warm us through. In addition, the shops are stocked with good quality reasonably priced merchandise, and the food in both the Live Music Bar and the Pavilion restaurant was tasty and good value for money. All in all the Enchanted Journey of light was a wonderfully memorable experience. Just brilliant!Visited December 2020Written December 11, 2020

This was our 3rd visit to the Xmas Spectacular Show (we were interrupted by Covid in 2020) and the show was as brilliant as the previous 2.
Our show tickets were £50.00 each, and were worth every penny.
It is a real variety show with singing, dancing, music, specialist entertainment acts (some from Cirque Du Soleil) a brilliant Phil on the Wurlitzer organ, and a terrific Kev “from Armenia” as compere.
Kev was the compere last year. We very much hope to go next year, and do hope Kev returns. He is so funny, and a wonderful pianist. His take on ‘Happy Birthday’ was priceless.
One tip - only card payments are accepted, NO CASH,
not even for refreshments or ice cream in the interval.
Anyone who has the opportunity to go should go.

I had heard great things about this show and so went with friends to celebrate two birthdays. Unfortunately our £55 tickets had a very restricted view due to upright posts. The tiered seating was only tiered by a couple of inches and therefore meant that I couldn't see over the person in front of me. I spent three hours trying to look round heads and posts.
The performers were good, comedian/compere was funny, but there seemed to be no flow to the production, it just felt like lots of random things thrown together.
I have to say that I was really disappointed.
There is also a light show experience on at the site. This would have cost a further £20 to visit so we didn't bother, having paid so much money I think it would have been nice to have had that included in the ticket price, they already have a captive audience for the food and drinks so having us stay for that would only have increased their chances of us spending more money.

After many years of visiting Thursford at Christmas I feel I have been let down by the Customer Services Team. Having booked four tickets for the Christmas light show late last night I found my daughter in law has booked the same slot this morning, so we are double booked [due to an error in communication]. Even though she had paid for the cancellation insurance [which I fully understand does not cover this circumstance] upon calling the Thursford admin they were adamant no refund should be given. A little harsh, I think. What has happened to the old fashioned customer service/loyalty? A little compassion would go a long way, but it seems that this is another ,family friendly, business which puts money before its customers.

St. Neots, UK209 contributions
Hi, The deluxe seats in the green section are all on the flat. Unless you are unlucky and get somebody really tall in front of you there is generally a very good view and that is where we always sit. The front row is too close for our liking as you are looking up to the stage, which is about a metre or so high.
I would like to know which hotels do a package for the show ie take you to the show and provide B+ B

Sorry cannot help you. We were holidaying in the area and saw an ad for the steam engines.
Thursford themselves may have a list of hotels offering a package. I found the staff excellent when I left my walking stick behind.

Can anyone advise good seats in the left hand side of the stage

We sat on the right hand side of the stage with no viewing problems as the stage is split into three distinct areas with the artists in all of them.

Hello, I am looking to book tickets for this event and noted your comments regarding the seating. Is it just the let room that is an issue or the width of the seats as well?
Thankyou,
