Thanks for an amazing snowmobile trip to Tempelfjorden. Our guide Knut was a super knowledgeable local who spends most of his time in Svalbard and has many interesting insights to the island and the life there. Poli Arctici is also a great company because they keep the groups small, which makes a big difference

Great adventures and much fun to be had

We did three trips with this travel company, two by boat and one hike. The guides were all very professional and knowledgeable, as well as a lot of fun to be with. They made sure we had a brilliant day out, even adjusting trips according to the weather if necessary. The group size on the boat trips was small, 10 to 12 people, which allowed us to get to know each other and spend the day together in a friendly atmosphere. Marina is a highly experienced and safety conscious skipper, she is an absolute pro when it comes to manoeuvring the boat through the waves and the floating ice. Anna is a bundle of energy, a lively and entertaining guide, very knowledgeable and full of interesting facts, stories and information. Anna and Marina are the perfect double act for guiding a boat trip, the warmth of their friendship was infectious and made it fun. They were also exceptionally good at looking after a passenger who suffered with sea sickness. Basically you are in good hands with these two and in for a great day out. We loved all the trips we had booked with Poli Arctici. Even the guided hike with Petr, which had to be adjusted because of bad weather, ended up being great. He showed us a lot of nice places around Longyearbyen and Bjørndalen.

Stunning hike up Nordenskiöldtoppen

We had three trips planned with Poli Arctici. The first was a local hike, which was really beautiful and a good taster to get used to the steep and rocky terrain. The second hike was up Nordenskiöldtoppen - the largest mountain in the vicinity of Longyearbyen. This hike up Nordenskiöldtoppen was particularly incredible with a range of terrains and landscapes and stunning views of Svalbard from the top. It was one of the highlights of our stay in Svalbard. Peter was our guide on both hikes, and he was really easy to get along, good at keeping the group together, knowledgeable, personable and overall an excellent guide!

We had also booked the Skipper's choice boat trip, but due to poor weather Poli Arctici offered us a boat trip with a different company on a larger boat that could withstand the conditions. We were happy that they were able to offer this alternative.

On the trips where lunch was provided, we specified our dietary requirements (including vegan) and Poli Arctici were able to see this through.

We think Poli Arctici were the most professional company we booked trips with in Svalbard, and would definitely recommend them! :)

Amazing days with Poli Arctici

We booked 6 trips with Poli Arctici : 3 boat tours and 3 hiking trips. Everything was just amazing! Stefano and his colleagues Marina and Peter are very knowledgeable and they did their best to show us as much as they possibly could about this wonderful territory. We saw breathtaking glaciers from the boat and during our hikings, walruses, belugas, minke whales, a bearded seal, puffins, and even 3 amazing polar bears. We also visited Pyramiden, saw Grumant, collected fossils and made it to Nordenskioldtoppen. The boat was very nice and comfortable, it has also some seats inside (although we did spend much of our time outside), the smaller number of passengers allowed us to have the best possible views. Stefano is a very experienced guide, Marina is very sweet, talented and a puffin lover and Peter’s hand was very helpful on the way down from the Nordenskioldtoppen, he made us feel safe. I also recommend the North Pole Museum, it is very interesting. Thank you all for giving us 6 wonderful and unforgivable days! We are looking forward to come back! Cristina and Gabriele

Perfect introduction to Svalbard in winter

Very clear communication, helpful in every way! When the minimum amount of people wasn't reached they are doing everything to rebook you in an other tour operator. Otherwise very interesting knowledge about Svalbard and adapting the tour to the wishes of the clients. Don't let the small office building scare you . They have good equipment, very good experience for beginning snowmobile drivers and they take their time so you can enjoy Svalbard the most.

amazing landscapes

Excellent tour, the first time we travelled with the snowmobiles and it was such an experience! Definitely, this is an obligatory thing to do in Svalbard! Our guide took us to an excellent spot to observe the fiords, she took into account the group's level of driving experience, so that everyone was enjoying the diving without too much stress on being the first one on a snowmobile like that. And very photogenic reindeers all the way.

Incredible snowmobile trip!!

I did the snowmobile trip around the Longyearbyen area (I believe it was a 4 hr excursion including getting suited up). Our tour guide, Dirk, was very helpful and made sure everyone was suited in the proper gear before we headed out. We had a diverse group, and he took the time to make sure everyone felt comfortable on their snowmobile (or snowscooter) and we had periodic check-ins every so often along the ride. We started in the afternoon when it was still light out and got to watch the sunset along the ride. The landscape we saw was absolutely incredible and diverse. And with their gear, I felt comfortable and not cold for the whole ride with all my layers and their snowsuit on top, and this was when it was about -25C. The handles are heated also! I think this is one of the best ways to see Svalbard, and I highly recommend it! I would love to do an excursion with Poli Arctici again, I would just pick a longer excursion to see even more!

Best experiences in Svalbard (and the Poli Artici's Museum is a must-see!)

We had an expedition to Pyramiden (and the glacier in front of it) and an excursion to Sarkofagen (the mountain close to Longerbayen). Both these activities were really outstanding and managed by the Poli Artici's staff in an extremely professional way! The crew in the first expedition to Pyramiden (Ana and Marina) was truly kind and competent. The trip was awesome and Marina and Ana also showed us many animals along the route! The excursion to Sarkofagen was led by Giovanni, a professional alpine guide working at Poli Artici, and this experience was great as well (during this excursion Giovanni showed us many interesting locations and we always had the feeling to be in super safe hands).

The last day of our sejour in Longerbayen we also visited Poli Artici's museum. This is a small museum, run by the Poli Artici's founder Stefano Poli, that you HAVE TO visit. it illustrates the history of the expeditions to the North Pole. It is very well organized and full of original material from these expeditions. You will find many many curiosities there... we have learned a lot. Surely, this is also a must-see in Longerbayen (when you are not busy with other activities).

We had other experiences with other travel agencies in Longerbayen but Poli Artici is absolutely the best. We strongly recommend them!

Ski touring in Atomfjella is like entering a new world. Travel on glaciers, climbing peaks and skiing down, it is an experience going beyond, further and deeper! Camp living with like minded and the dynamic guide duo Giovanni and Miken navigating peaks and powder performing magic on the stove! : D

Experience the true High Arctic

Such a great way to savour and experience the true wilderness of the High Arctic. Stay in the two lodges, one on the coast and one in the mountains and travel inland on excellent skidoos with the best guides. Sure is an incredibly fascinating opportunity to be seduced by the brilliance of the true Arctic nature. Very well hosted, both friendly and very knowledgable. A week that I will never forget. Grazie.
