The tour with the guide/owner Doreen was far above and beyond expectations. Doreen drove me places that were not normally on the tour with the history of Longyearbyen. NOTE: if you are visiting solo, one needs to ask in advance if there is only one customer for this tour and the tour requires 2 paying customers, could I pay twice and be a solo customer
One section of this special tour was towards a restaurant with a mountain ridge on the right and opposite the valley was another mountain completely different shape. I fell in love with the splendors. It was breathtaking and beautiful geological formations

We had a great time with snowmobiles to Tempelfjorden with guide @svalbardfanny 25 feb 2023. She gave us clothes and equipment as needed, explained very well what was going to happen, the safety issues we might have and how to avoid or mitigate them. Two of our team had little or no experience with snowmobiles, and she showed them how to operate one safely. On the tour she adaptet her driving speed to our teams increasing skill level so all of us had a wonderful experience. Short stops to show us things, explain about nature and history of the area.
Thank you for a wonderful experience, Fanny!

The day could not have been better. Clear weather and the sun appeared for the first time in Adventsdalen this year.
The guide was experienced and took advantage of the opportunities.
The drive was efficient, with a few stops along the way where we could enjoy the view and take small breaks. Once at Tempelfjorden, the guide took us up to Fjordnibba, with views in all directions. The temple directly in front of us and the Tuna glacier in the innermost part of the fjord. We had hot lunch and drinks while we watched the sun go down behind the mountains.
On the return trip we saw a frozen waterfall and the magical light that Svalbard has to offer.
Nice with a small group, we were only 5 people.
We received good information and training before the trip started, so that everyone felt safe.
This trip can be recommended.

We went on a day trip to Sarkofagen, which should have been one of the highlights of our trip to Svalbard. The location is indeed amazing, the view from the top and the glacier walk was excellent. But this is end of the pros of the trip… I’m a relatively fit person in my thirties, experienced hiker, walked up to the top of England’s highest mountain peak just last month without any issues, did trips in the Alps in Austria and Switzerland as well. Unfortunately I’m also happened to be below average hight with short legs, hence I’m a bit slower than other average hight people. Not a lot though, just a bit, so what happened on this trip was not by any mean reasonable or acceptable. I believe the tour guide was completely unsuitable for his role… He disregard my physique and didn’t adjust the pace to the ‘slowest’ member, instead he constantly ran away (most of the team members able to follow), but me and my husband (given this was a group of 8, this is 25% of the group) was left behind so much that there were 3 occasions where we couldn’t see the group anymore and almost got lost, starting to go to the wrong direction. On certain occasions he left us alone in very dangerous situations, eg. on a steep hillside with loose rocks, where we could have seriously injured ourselves and he was nowhere in the vicinity to even realise if help was needed. Also, when we finally managed to catch up, he decided to continue the trip even if we were still not ready, which left me completely dehydrated by the end of the tour as I didn’t have a chance to take proper breaks. I really didn’t understand what was the reason for this constant rush, he still had to wait for us every now and then therefore the group didn’t progress any faster, and even with my speed we still managed to get back on time, so all he achieved was that I felt rushed and unsafe. I would recommend to everyone to do this trip because the landscape is amazing, but do it with another company, avoid this one! Reckless tour guide, without knowing the basics of how to lead a group hike. I appreciate my issue might not be relevant to many people but the type of behaviour from the tour guide was dangerous and disappointing, which could cause similarly poor experience to others due to some other personal reasons.

The guides were friendly but the difficulty of the trip was very misleading.

We did the Ice Adventure which is advertised as a difficulty of 2 - suitable for most which simply isn't true. The walk is 4km each way and very steep. Half of our group turned back at various points because it was so hard. The walk to the cave takes 3 to 3.5 hours. Once you're at the cave, you need to crawl around on your hands and knees. The walk is only suitable if you are very fit and healthy and are an experienced hiker. If you want to visit an ice cave, I'd recommend a snowmobiling or husky trip instead of this. Its fair to say none of the group we hiked with would do it again and they felt that they had been mislead too.
This is not criticism of the guides at all, its the misleading advertising that I have an issue with.

A family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers (14 and 16) had a private tour that started at 16.00. Weather was windy and rainy so at some point we all got soaking wet through 3 layers. Bea(trice), our guide, was calm, friendly, informative, motivating and had a keen eye on security all the time. Our trip was simply astonishing, much in credit to Bea and her guidance and considerations. Even if we where cold and wet, our happiness outshone any worries we had that day. We slept like polar bear babies that night, exhausted and one amazing memory richer.

If you are 4 people, I would consider doing the trip "private" at a marginally higher cost, to get full attention and focus on your own group. With our children part of this, it was an investment in bonding quality family time.

We had an absolutely fantastic trip! (5.1.23)

The guide was really nice and friendly, with lots of jokes, and he explained all the things we saw in the surroundings. He was always asking if the pace is OK, and checked that everybody is following. We had freeze dried food inside the cave, which the guide brought, and it was quite an experience, and tasted pretty good!

In our case, the trip was very easy, but I can imagine that in other weather conditions it might be a bit more work. In ur case, there was only a litte bit of snow, and in the areas where it had gathered more, it was nicely packed, so walking was a breeze. Regarding steepness: well that depends on your fitness, but there is really only a 10 minute stretch where it is a bit steeper (like in the Alps). In the ice cave, we had to crawl a little bit, our crouch down, but that, too, was easily doable (I am 55).

We will come back and do another tour with them.

I pid for a tour using my credit card on their website. However, when the cruise line canceled our cruise due to COVID-19, I contacted Spitzbergen Adventures and Doreen Lampe responded that she requires my banking information in order to issue a refund. I sent her my bank's SWIFT code but refused to send my actual bank account number. Why would I send my personal bank account information to a total stranger? She responded, "In order to provide your refund I still need your account number. This will be my last email regarding this matter since I am just repeating myself. I am not denying your refund, but in order to do so you need to provide us with the required information. Until you provide the requested information my hands are tied and I cannot help you."

I cannot rate the actual tour, but the customer service, in my opinion, is terrible. They accepted my payment via credit card, so I don't understand my they cannot refund me using the same method (my credit card).

Hi, we were trying to refund you as agreed. Unfortunately you do not seem to understand that in order to do so we need certain information. Since the booking was over a year old we were not able to refund directly to your credit card. I apologize if you feel that you have not been treated right, but the error was NOT on our side. We tried several times to reach out to you in order to find a way in refunding you. For the record, the case is now solved and you got your refund. Best regards Doreen Lampe General Manager/Owner

book in this online ice cave trip, the beginning nice and good, we have instruction how use the stick and spike to the shoes. Guides is nice then. We start the trip, walk trough the glacier amazing wiew until have a daylight (between 11-14). Start climb to mountain to ice cave. We almost close and we turn buck.
WTF. many people tired (we walk max only 2 hours) and scared and freeze ( in norway) so guides don't ask nothing we go back where we start. I fly across the world, I want see the ice cave inside and we turn back from the finish line. I absolute angry, and I say this me and more 4 people, but doesn't Matter more people tired and freeze. But I think the guides same really don't want this trip this day. I say some people stay out and eat with one guide, and me and others go to the cave with other guide. But nothing answer. So I book to ice cave trip without ice cave. We arrived back where we start and ask "everyone happy?" I just give back the stuff and i left the car and walk to my hotel I know this I book other company. I send the massage to company what's happen, say ask the guides is true or no. Why belive I lie maybe, refund? I dont think. Nothing answer.
So choice other company, maybe this little cheaper (not cheap:£90) but not ruined all day and all trip. See some nice wild places, but the main attraction the ice cave cancelled.

Excellent hike to the ice cave with a very knowledgeable guide! Oliver was great and he really made sure to look after people in the group that might have found the walking difficult, and was also very encouraging even when we went into the cave and some parts were slippy/uneven.

There was food and coffee/hot blackcurrant syrup on offer which was great, and we went scrambling through the glacier. It was quite surreal because although the glacier we visited is technically classified as 'dead' (meaning it doesn't grow every winter any more, probably thanks to global warming) it was still amazing to see the thousands of years of ice and rock.

I would say it's a medium level hike/cave visit. While the hike itself wasn't too bad, the inside of the cave can be tricky because you're climbing over ice itself and rock formations. Crampons and walking poles are provided, though, and the guide always checks that you're happy with the pace/warm enough, etc.
