About
During a visit at Svalbard Bryggeri you will hear about how Svalbard Bryggeri became a reality, how former coal miner and pilot Robert Johansen got the idea about establishing his own brewery on the northern most settlement, Longyearbyen Svalbard, and what would be required to implement the dream. You will taste five different beers brewed on 2000-year-old glacier water from Bogerbreen.

We didn't join the tour, but we rather visited during their Friday opening hours (had to book the table in advance). A cool lookinh taproom, friendly and informative staff and of course nice beer. A small draft beer (330ml) wil set you back about 55NOK, whereas a flight of 5 different beers costs 150 NOK - a good price for Norway. And the ambiance was pretty lively during our visit, mostly tourists from all corners of the world ejoying Polar beer.

We took this tour only a few hours after arriving in Longyearbyen and it was a great introduction to Svalbard. Our host Brianna was fun and engaging; she told us plenty of humorous tales about the brewery's founder and also explained the brewing process for each of the five excellent beers we sampled. The Svalbard Brewery is a unique place with a unique story - definitely worth a visit.

This was an enjoyable experience. We were informed of the history of the brewery and it’s Norwegian founder. We tasted five of the brewery’s regular beers (pretty good). What I think was missing was a tour of the actual brewery itself, rather than see it through a glass window. Shame about that, but still a nice evening.

We booked the beer tasting. We were only two people in the tour/tasting. Brianna was the best host we've had ever! She's super nice and fun to hang out with. She told us a lot of interesting stuff about the origin of the brewery as well as some background info on the founder. This was our best experience in Longyearbyen by far, thank you so much!!! We enjoyed it a lot!

If you are lucky, Brianna (from) Montana is guiding you through the evening. Nice stories to tell but it all depends on the Story Teller as well.

A shame that they didn´t have the Rav Lager. So i had to try different OTHER beers. The tasting ended after one hour 10 Minutes, the tour itself ... it´s been a while that we had so much fun.

We went there just for the bar because the tours were all booked. Didn't matter. It is a lovely small brewery and the tasting room is very nice. They have almost all their beers on tap and you can chose between a taster (5 beers I believe), small glass and a pint. Lovely way to taste all of their beer. You can purchase some merchandise while you are there. Our seating was for 2 hours. A massive group arrived after us so we couldn't stay longer unfortunately.

Great experience and for me a must do when you are there.

Great brewery with solid beers all around. In fact, these were the best beers I had in almost two weeks in Norway. The fact that it is the world's northernmost brewery made the experience even more memorable. The tap room at the brewery has limited hours, but has friendly service and is very popular with the locals (for good reason).

The tour as others have mentioned is really just a tasting, but it takes place in a bar overlooking the equipment so you're killing two birds with one stone. It was a really fun experience thanks to the high energy host Brianna and the fact that the beer is awesome. Thoroughly recommended as a way to spend a couple of relaxing hours after an excursion.

Svalbard Brewery is not big, you can easily see the entire brewery from above, viewing from a visitors room with a huge window. So, instead of the guided tour that you might expect from a brewery, instead we sat at tables and drank generous sized samples of several of their beers whilst being entertained by the fascinating life story of founder Robert Johansen, as well as the history and future ambitions of the northernmost brewery in the world. A really enjoyable evening.

The trip is not really a tour but a talk & tasting. There is no food included. The talk was very good & we tasted 5 beers. We were told the history of the owner & how he persisted to get the law changed so he could open his brewery. We were also told about each of the beers we were tasting.
You can see everything from the tasting room so no tour was needed.
It is a bit far out but was only 20 minutes walk from Radisson Blu.
A bit pricey but everything is in Norway
