Elise, our guide was professional and patient with other guests. Even one customer who was acting a little "Karen" ish and made a scene about her diet preferences. If anyone asked any questions Elise would be quick to reply and had detailed explanations about what we could see around us. The crew smiled and were happy all around. This was also during the corona pandemic so they disinfected the ship thoroughly.

Jerose, our Filipina bartender and "waffle maker" was always on point and made for good company. Even though the boat was going through some rough see, she never spilled the drinks.

What can I say… this is my third trip with Henningsen and they’re amazing. This trip was simply lifechanging.

I wish review sites would let you have one stand out review of the year, this would be it.

They day starts with a pick up from your accommodation, bang on time. I was lucky enough for this to be the same driver I had from the airport who is extremely funny and witty.

I am greeted at the boat by Hans, who miraculously remembers me from some trips I took in 2022. I was also recognised by the bar staff. The level of service provided by this team is out of this world.

I was taking the ‘Pyramiden cruise’. Knowing the ice I thick at the moment, I know we will not be docking at Pyramiden, as out arrival would smash the ice into their fragile timber landing stage. Hans explained that the ice was changing daily and that would dictate our day. We set sail smashing through the ice while Hans told lectures and stories about the arctic. He’s so knowledgeable and engaging it’s a pleasure to listen.

I spent a lot of time out on deck watching the icy landscapes change. The crew allow you to circulate the boat freely. Hans and an assistant also circulate checking everyone is OK. If there is any wildlife sightings the crew let you know.
After fours hours of siling North, we (purposefully) beached ourself onto the ice. We were given an special safety briefing for anyone who wanted to jump overboard and walk around on the pack ice, while the guides stayed on Polar Bear watch with their rifles. To walk around on top of the sea is just awesome. It’s a small gesture from the team, but meant so much to me.

Hans was also kind enough to take photos of solo travellers like myself as well as groups.

Next up was lunch. BBQ’ed fresh on the back of the boat. The food is soooo nice, the crew should definitely open a restaurant in Longyearbyen! We set off back on a different route on the way back, and were lucky to see a Polar Bear!

The boat is immaculately kept, and has amazing facilities (comfy seating at tables, bar, pristine toilets etc.) but it is the crew which make this an unforgettable trip of a lifetime.

I booked specifically with Henniggsen to go to Pyramiden as they were one of very few companies actually docking at Pyramiden, and they delivered!

We had Marion as our guide and she done a fantastic job of everything from the history of Longyearbyen, to the wildlife.

The boat Billesfjord and its all Filipino crew were so accommodating. The bar was fantastic.
We visited a glacier first which was stunning. The captain sped off in a zodiac and grabbed a chunk of ice. When he returned he offered the whole boat whisky on the rocks with the glacial ice. (I had Jager, it was incredible)

The crew also done a BBQ out on deck, which was worth the cruise money alone!

I'll review Pyramiden in a separate review: I had high expectations (it was my main reason for visiting Svalbard) and it blew me away.

We saw walrus, seals, and puffins. No bears, but that was kinda expected at the time of year I went.

Big thanks to Marion who also took the time to talk to all guests individually also. Highly recommended.

We had booked the boat day trip to Billefjorden a month prior. On the day of the tour, we waited for two hours for the bus pick-up until we called the tourist information office, which told us that apparently the boat was stuck in Tromsø and couldn't operate. Why we weren't told the day before is a mystery.
4 days later we still haven't heard a word from Henningsen Transport & Guiding, they are not replying to our emails and they are not picking up the phone. We are still waiting for any information regarding the refund of NOK4'400 (almost €400). Would not recommend.

Dear matteopW5486WS, I get how this situation created a huge inconvenience for you and how our lack of communication has made us occur very unprofessional. This is absolutely not how we normally operate. A series of unfortunate events led to this, and although my explanation won’t have any reversible effect on what happened, I still want to be transparent and shed some light on the situation. Extreme weather caused a dangerous situation for our crew and vessel and led to a delay in our scheduled sailing from the mainland. Traveling at the same time for an unexpected family emergency, I failed to get the message out to our guests in a timely manner and what was supposed to be the beginning of a great season turned into somewhat of a nightmare for our guests and ourselves. We chose to prioritize the safety of our crew and vessel, and we are glad that situation now is under control. We have since been working hard to reach every one of our guests who have been affected and share with them this devastating news. I wish that I was able to do more than offer a refund for the trips yourself and hundreds of other guests had been looking forward to. Thank you again for your feedback. I am heartbroken and deeply saddened for how this turned out and I would love the opportunity to regain your trust. Please let me know if you get a chance to visit Longyearbyen again so we can create the possibility for you to experience Svalbard the way we think is the best, from the water.

We booked for June 2020. Unfortunately, we could not enter Norway because of covid. Based on the terms we were eligible for a refund. Because we wanted to support companies like Henningsen Transport & Guiding, we shifted to 2021 instead of cancelling it. Again in 2021 in the same period tourists were not allowed to enter Norway. So this time we had to cancel. The company ignored our emails for months!! Didn’t reply to 7 emails! Once we referred to the terms we got at the time of booking, they told us they are not willing to refund anything and based their statement on a point on their websites that says that shifting a reservation makes the refund eligibility invalid. This point is not mentioned in the terms they sent when you do a booking. There is only a reference to their website for everything else. So basically they expect their customers to find the gaps between their terms and their website while doing a comparison. Ridiculous. This company holds back money for a service they never provide. Not considering at all that customer were forced to shift and cancel and also taking advantage of the goodwill of people like us that wanted to support them giving it another try. How sad and bad. This company is so disappointing. What people are ready to do to hold back some hundreds of Euros! Be aware and search some companies you can trust and have some basic values.

Hi, we are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience and appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. It is our goal to make sure that all our guest has the best possible chance to experience Svalbard the way we think is the very best, from the water. As a result of the hardships the Covid-19 pandemic caused the travel industry in the 2020 season, we offered our guests the possibility to extend all reservations, free of charge, through the 2021 season, or later if travel in 2021 was not possible. We take pride in keeping our tour information, as well as our terms and conditions, clear, to the point, and easily accessible to all our guests through the entire process from planning to booking and final payment. We get that our efforts fell short in your eyes and your detailed feedback gives us the opportunity to review the way our information is presented and to make it even more visible to future guests. We thank you for that. As travel still is difficult, both for travelers as well as travel operators, we still have the possibility to extend your booking further through the 2022 season when travel hopefully again will be leisurelier. Please contact us directly to arrange an extension.

Ok cruise, but I sincerely think that the service on board could be improved. When paying 1800,- NOK per person I expect at least free coffee and tea. For the included lunch, sodas and beer should be complimentary considering the tax-free prices at Svalbard.

Started in Longyearbyen with an amazing view of the surrounding environment.
Around the fiord there were walruses, raindeer, ducks and several types of birds.
Approaching Barentsburg it started to snow, we got to see the city right after it calmed down.
The journey had many occasions when we could see, from all angles of the ship, the ship breaking through ice sheets.
All tour guides, (Natalia, Isabel and Lena) were well informed regarding all questions by passengers, very polite, attentive and with a positive energy that transpired to every one around, even after 9 hours when the fatigue was starting to notice on every passenger on the ship.
Just an unforgettable experience, which we hope to repeat in the future!

The fjord tour part was ok but so much downtime we ended up taking naps. The major disappointment was the fact that we did not stop in Pyramiden and we were not told at all. We were communicating with Henningsen prior to the trip and they helped us with information to completely rearrange our trip (flights and all) so that we could take their cruise to Pyramiden, tour the city and then stay the night at Hotel Pyramiden and return back the next day with another company. About 20 minutes into our tour with Henningsen, the tour company that we were scheduled to return with the next day messaged us to ask what our plans were since Pyramiden was unreachable due to ice so they would not be able to pick us up as planned. We quickly spoke with the tour leader and he casually confirmed that it was correct, we would not be stopping at Pyramiden. I'm all but 100% certain they likely knew at least the day before that they would not be landing at Pyramiden and it's really frustrating that this was not communicated prior to setting foot on the cruise considering all the back and forth I had with them to set up all the details for our stay.
100% we would have canceled if we knew and I'm sure this is probably why we weren't told in advance. We just came off an 8-day expedition of seeing wildlife so the fjord cruise was not the part of interest for us. Expensive disappointment :(
Book with caution if Pyramiden is your wish.

A group of us arrived by a cruiseship on the 8th June, and joined the MS Billefjord to be greeted by the crew. The boats crew gave us the mandatory safety information and life jacket demonstration, before we set off on our journey to be amazed by the snow capped scenery and beautiful light. The Billefjorden has plenty of space and three levels 2 with covered seating the third area is open. The views and commentary were wonderful especially the hearts pounding moment with the appearance of a Polar bear walking on the icepack, with some outstanding views. Not getting closer than what is required by law. We had a bbq lunch by the glacier, everything beautifully cooked and served, after lunch we set off on our adventure again.
We passed a bird cliffs and had views of whales, we also had a two hour visit to Pyramiden, a few actually saw an artic fox.
What an experience, highly recommend the tour with Henningsen Transport and Guiding

We had a nice trip to Pyramiden and Nordenskøldbreen. Crew on boat gave us always a smile and good service. the lunch served as well was very good
The guide on the boat was maybe a bit silent and could told us more about what we saw on the tour. Pyramiden was spectacular in its strange way. The guide, a very fast speaking and walking young girl , had a lot om information to give about the Pyramiden society
