Took my two granchildren there six and eight they had such fun and because they are so competative they put a lot of effort into finding the hidden little gems.

This is such a beautiful place to walk around.
It is free of charge.
Along by derrynane beach and house
Has a coffee shop.

The fairy trail is really nice and huge effort goes into keeping these fairy houses in imaculate condition.
In addition to the fairy walk there are other gardens at Derrynane for those more into flora.

Would definitely recommend if you've younger kids and around this part of the country with some time to kill. Definitely recommend a trip to the beach also while you're here.

Very nice experience. It's part of the Derrynane House Gardens - i.e. just go to the house, and you'll get a map of the Fairy Trails there. The Fairy Trail is free - i.e. you don't need to do a tour of the house to enjoy the trail. It's a very smart idea, to get smaller children to do a walk thru the woods - which otherwise is often difficult ("I don't want to do a walk...") - but not here. Our daughter was really keen on finding the next fairy house - and see what's inside. Even our teenage daughters liked it a lot - great fun!

Great time with my boys (4 and 7) walking the trails trying to find the fairy houses. Go to the informational office to pick up the map and set off on your adventure. There is also a wishing well and fairy tower (although that was being renovated.). Give your kids a handful of 1 cent Euros to leave inside the houses so the fairies can have dinner that night.

It's free, our boys really enjoyed it and talked about it after the visit. Great to do with younger kids especially to do something that's just for them while driving the Ring.

We stopped off here after spending the morning at derrynane beach and although it was raining(Shock horror for kerry) it didn't stop our fun. Picking up your map from the wonderful cafe started off our day and then the hunt began, cute, fairy house after fairy house, had the kids running through the forest and really enjoying themselves, they even believed that one was really hiding in their house. Its a wonderful way to explore the grounds and such care has been put into them, it brings a smile when they are found. Although the kids running through the forest led them to miss a few so Mammies and Daddies seem to have to keep an eye out for them. Highly recommend a little drop by and its free so make sure to leave a donation.

Enjoyed walking this fairy trail with our two granddaughters ages 3 and 7. We arrive around 4:00 pm and the visitors center was already closed even though the signs said open until 5:00 pm. We were still able to access the fairy trail even though there was absolutely no signage to indicate where it was. The girls really enjoyed it but signage would have been much appreciated.

Such a beautiful & magical place, for both young and old! Get a map in the coffee shop at Derrynane House (leave a little donation!) and off you go ... the fairies have really put lots of effort into building a magical kingdom in these woods, their houses are beautiful and unique.
