The museum provides a fascinating insight into 1000s of years of working with marble. Pyrgos itself is beautiful, with sculpted marble decorating the houses and a great plate. We drove down to Parnormos Beach for lunch - like Greece in the 1970s.

Recommended by a few locals, we found a small and interesting museum. The history of the local sculptor was unknown to us (shame on us. He's great) and we're glad we visited

Located in such a pretty village in the hills. Very interesting with lots of information. An enjoyable cultural change to just going to the beach.

We hired a car for three days and on one of the days visited the Museum, long walk up hill so take care. Well worth the visit. Take care on your return as it is easy to get lost.

A fascinating museum, well worth a visit. Beatifully set up, with information in English, with videos of all the stages of production of marble and marble crafts, in a village which is itself a showcase for the craft.

The building is quite new and the exhibits are easy to absorb but still very educational - all in English as well as Greek. I learned a lot about marble quarrying and sculpting. Watch the videos too, that show the process to cut and move...More
