It’s a shame. I suspect much of the mosaic is original?? This a few thousand years old but sits derelict. I’d like to think the tourist tax will pay to renovate it back to be something it once was. Fascinating to think what it has seen but it needs some love and care

This is a rather neglected but important Roman gem located near the port on the main tourist street. It no longer works and is quite badly damaged, with missing stonework and weeds taking hold in the gaps. What a shame as it is rather beautiful and a precious historic artefact. Hopefully, it will survive for another two thousand years.

This is a pretty random attraction. If you didn't know what you were looking at, you would not for a second guess this is a Roman archaeological artefact! There is no sign to state what it is , and only a very low 'fence' to keep people from walking on it. Didn't stop a bunch of drunk tourists from peeing on it late one night as we were walking past! Really, really sad that this piece of history is being forgotten in plain view...

A small 4 m2 pyramedic fountain in the middle of the shopping streets. Odds are you will find it without looking for it or even knowing what it is. When we passed by, fountain was not working. Total visit time allocates: 3 mins.

It is dreadful that this beautiful fountain is just being left to disintegrate. It is mosaic and they are just left in the open air for any idiot to desecrate or the elements to ruin.

On our walks along the seafront to the Old Port we passed this amazing antiquity daily & tried to guess what it had been used for .Now thanks to Trip Advisor & it's reviewers we know it's a Roman fountain.
It is sad there is no plaque or sign to tell the thousands of tourists who pass by this historic monument what they are seeing. We passed many ruins on our walks in Crete & never noticed any explanatory posts ,we had to use our imagination of what the original buildings could have been .Come on Crete show some pride in your history & put up some notice boards for your tourists !

Just imagine how this fountain used to function and look like in its best days. Unfortunately now it`s just surrounded by a metal frame for protection.
