This institute produces and sells a wide variety of handicrafts including wall scrolls, masks, jewelry and other artifacts. It was founded by Mrs. Catherine Graham in 1897, with the objective to promote and propagate local handicrafts as well as provide employment opportunities to locals, on which she was successful then and even now.
You might come across some really beautiful artfact.

I believe the historical name is Chitra-Bhanu, Rabindranath Tagore House. Two memorials to Tagore stand in the center. Today this is a counseling and vocational training center. Over half of the beautiful colonial house was destroyed in the earthquake. The property is barren, but should be of interest to Rabindranath afficionadoes.

Located just at a walking distance from the supermarket more, it’s basically a handicraft centre. You can find carpet weaving, handicraft items, woven caps, masks etc. There are paintings on display depicting the past history of handicrafts etc. Personally I did not find it interesting as I am not very inclined to these stuffs. There’s a souvenir shop where you can collect stuffs if you wish.

I was so proud to visit this place. An Art n craft Center established way back in 1897 with the basic aim for promoting local handicrafts. Their work includes mask making, carpet weaving, painting etc.Its the right place to look for souvenirs and gift articles!!
