This is one of the oldest temples located around 10 to 15 kms from Kanchipuram on the way to vellore. Believed that Jatayu's last rituals were performed here and also this temple must be visited by childless couples to get the blessings.

A divya deam , ancient and well maintained temple , the moolavar is very beautiful , the pushkarini just outside the temple is lovely with lots of fishes . This temple is in thiruputkuzi village roughly 15 kms from kanchipuram . If planned properly all the 16 divya desams in and around kanchipuram can be completed in one day . Legend says that the Lord performed last rites for jatayu in this kshetra .

This Divya Desam is situated about 10kMs away from Kanchipuram in west direction.About 1/2 Km away from Balucheti chathram which is in between Chennai Vellore Highways. When Rama along with Lakshmanan came in search of Sita ,they found Jatayu fell down in the Land.Jatayu told that Ravana has took away Seetha and along with him and on finally telling this ,he died.Since Lord Ramar gave the Sthanam to Jatayu as his father he did all the final ceremony and styed here.Jatayu belongs to pul ( A Family of Eagle) family and was buried in the pit the sthalam is vcalled Thiruputkuzhi. In this Sthalam Moolavar is Vijayaraghava Perumal. He holds Jatayu in his hands. Both the Nachiyars are found on both the sides ,but in the opposite manner. Special Pujas are done on every Amavasya Day. The temple is worshipped by Ladies who do not have children.

This Temple is about 15 Kms away from Kanchipuram (enroute to Vellore). Temple tank is "Jatayu Pushkarini". It is believed that Jatayu (Eagle) died here and attained salvation. Maragathavalli Thayar is believed to bless childless couples to get child. There is a process here and pooja is done as per that.
