We toured this house. It was very interesting to be able to go inside a family home and see what sorts of living arrangements and the kinds of possessions people had in the past. We also enjoyed a delicious meal cooked on site.

on the way to Kailasanathar temple a small village house on the left with display board can be seen
Original owners stayed here generations back ,the present kids decided not to sell the property instead display it to the general public to get a glimpse of the the residential building along with the kitchen wares ,cots ,cradles ,furnitures massive swing in the living room, ladies room etc....
Nostalgic for people who have past 50 yrs and now living in cities
will be a big surprise for present day kids

Last Saturday, myself along with my mom got to Visit 'Kanchi Kudil', it was 150 years old house with various house hold Items used in past decades.

Depicts the life style of Joint family, few photographs of the people lived in that house were hanged in walls. A hall with a Swing, Kitchen with cooking utensils, pooja room etc., were available for Visibility. They have charged Rs.10 for the visit.

A beautiful traditional house preserved in its pristine form - a walk inside takes you back by about 150 years - the structure of the house, furniture, utensils - its rewind time. The place is well maintained, and located quite close to the famous Kailasanathar temple. Its frequented by tourists, especially from abroad.

Nice house to visit in Kanchipuram on your way to the Kailashanatha temple. Some historical pieces from the owner of about 100 years ago. Gives you a glimpse into those times.

The house is more than 100 year old and is open to public for visit .

The house is mudhaliar community family lived here . It has separate place for prayer, room for young children, dressing room, kitchen, bath, varanda , many utensils used by them are at display ...

We were told Foreigners visit by prebooking with meals .

Entry fee is nominally collected .

It’s in heart of the city

WE stopped here on our way to the Kailasanatha Temple. You can walk into the Kanchi Kudhil and use there toilet for a small fee. You will need a guide to explain about this place. It is rather charming.

A very simple insight into the simplicity of a Kanchipuram household with the traditional cooking implements and layout of the living spaces. The new and charming addition has been turning the back ( normally concreted) courtyard into a little function area with catering facilities. Good place for those unfamiliar with South Indian household traditions. The keepers, too, are obliging and charming.
