Visited Matheran in the 2nd week of March, we walked to Charalotte Lake which was very close to our hotel. The walk isn’t very steep. It’s a very romantic and quite place to view a sunset.

It is a hill station near Mumbai. It’s known for its mild climate and well-preserved colonial architecture. Vehicles are banned over here. . The different points have different views across the mountains and waterfalls. This is the best place to visit during monsoon. . .

The place is clam and nice walk from city center. However, feel that the place might be much better during monsoons when water would be overflowing from the lake.

Its about 3 km walk from central area of Matheran. Do visit Lord's point from there and use the binoculars to view Shivaji's fort, bust and an adivasi's honey collecting ladder...mind blowing

No, camping is not allowed on the open grounds. But there are Hotels nearby and you can avail of those to stay. However, you can sit late evening near the lake and enjoy the nature.
