There were no mechanical issues with the renter. This customer booked 2 hours on a busy day, went out and unfortunately, his partner had issues getting back on the machine. Steve Nooney called our office for a full refund and we explained that someone else would have rented the machine as we turned down at least 50 other renters that day. We tried to be courteous by offering to refund the second hour at no fault of our own. This wasn't good enough - Steve called his credit card company and lied and said there were mechanical issues and declined the charges and wrote this horrible review.

For clarification: Cowle's Creek is our launching point. It was used by canoers and fishermen as far back as the late 1800's. It's a unique little piece of history and a nice place to explore. Most of our guests have enjoyed this little area. There is a lot of wildlife and even blue herons can be seen while kayaking. It is a "creek" not a river. To explore both branches of the creek at a leisurely pace will take approx. 30 min. We do not claim it is a lengthy river, or that it will take up your whole hour of rental. Our website clearly says we rent kayaks to be used in Cowle's Creek and Lake Erie. When you rent a kayak, you choose at your discretion whether you want to kayak in the creek or the Lake (marine conditions permitting) or both. We will notify you if we are not letting kayakers in the Lake and you can just paddle in the creek or you can reschedule for another time. Sometimes you can kayak directly out to the lake from the creek and sometimes you need to carry your kayak over a sand bar. It can change daily, so we adapt to the conditions on a daily basis. Our storefront/kiosk - we call it our shack is located on Lake Rd. in Geneva-On-The-Lake, across from the Eddie's Grill arcade. This is all on our website. We have 7 docks at the Geneva Marina in the State Park. We are there Tue-Sunday 10-7, we do not have to drive to the State park, because we are already there. Kayaks & Paddle boards are not permitted from our docks, it's too congested. That is why we utilize the nearby creek as a launching point. As far as buying water, there is water at the Marina store, you don't drive there, you walk over there from the parking lot that you park in for kayaking. You may want to give yourselves plenty of extra time if you plan on visiting the Marina Store before kayaking. Everyone has different expectations based on knowledge of an area or life experiences, perceptions, etc. If you don't expect the Mohican River in Geneva, Ohio, then you'll have a great time! Take a look at our last review from a kayaker: "Super convenient rental of a kayak for a midday adventure. We met them at the marina where the kayak was delivered to the nearby creek to launch into it or paddle out to the lake. Service was friendly, reservations easy, and equipment in great shape."
