A hill viewpoint with a breathtaking view
Dec 2020
Have to take local jeeps, even though expensive, to avoid messing ones own vehicle due crass roads and steep uphill drives. This is a viewpoint with a very little trek, carrying camera was worth it. A nominal 25/- was collected by the State Govt, maybe for upkeep charges. Sunrise and Sunset are the best times to visit this place. This place is best avoided during sunny/ hot weather. Also advisable not to litter.

Wonderful half day trek
Nov 2020
The trek is gentle to start with but quickly gets steep. The views are beautiful - 360 degrees and above the clouds. The last km or so, is quite steep. My son and I got bitten by leeches, so please go prepared (carry salt, apply dettol/savlon on the legs). I also liked the fact that they take an inventory of any plastic that you carry and take a Rs 100 deposit and it is returned only when you come back with all of those plastic items. The trail was really free of any litter unlike other treks we have been on. The road to the base is not great, we parked about a km before the actual start point and walked up.

Medium to hard Trek
Dec 2019
Information to trekking at this place is scanty. Just get there which is pretty easy. Despite roads under repair and distances to trek increasing correspondingly, there are jeeps available that will get you there. Ultimately the trek is worth it. Its beautiful landscape

A Trek For All
Oct 2019
Go Early in the morning to avoid the sun and have sufficient water. Don't give up till you find the flag at the top of the hill.

A rewarding day-trek that even children can enjoy
Dec 2019
The trail is 3 kms long to the top, from the forest check-post. Carry at least 2 liters of water per head - although there is a stream at camp-site that is 1.5 kms short of the peak. The serious climb starts after crossing the camp-site.
We saw children about 10-12 years enjoying the climb. For an easy going pace, 2 hours up and 2 hours down is reasonable, with an hour spent at the summit. The views and the quiet at the summit were the best parts.

Amazing one-day trek
Nov 2019 • Friends
We stayed at Madikeri and took the 6.45am bus (Shamla bus) to Kakkabe (private bus stand near the bus station in madikeri). From Kakkabe we took a rickshaw to the Nalkunadu Palace, where the trek started. The beginning is easy, it's a normal path. In this month there are little leeches if you just follow the path (we took a wrong turn, ended up in the bushes and we found 5 leeches per feet, so don't make that mistake..). After paying 50 rupees per person, we started the 'real' trek. Firstly you wander between the trees, after which you wander in open fields. This is an amazing view already. The last part of the trek is a bit more challenging, because you have to 'climb' a semi stiff path and the path contains of loose rocks. The end of the hike is very rewarding. The view is breathtaking and it's really peaceful. Don't miss this trek if you are in coorg!

Trekking is banned.
Apr 2019 • Friends
Trekking to this peak is banned as of april 2019 due to some forest fire or something. You can go upto the starting point from where you'll get a decent view.

Good one day trek..
Feb 2019 • Friends
Decent one day trek on the easier side of the spectrum. Would be more beautiful during monsoon I guess as the streams would come alive. The trail is a mix of open grasslands with patches of the trail under tree cover.

Tandiandamol peak~unplanned trip
Dec 2018 • Friends
We(3 friends) started from satellite bus stand to virajpet Saturday night, bus reached around 4.0 am.,There we waited for local bus to trekking starting point(Palace junction)fortunately in local cab,we had space for us to travel to that palace junction. As it was year end, we did not get any rooms to refresh, though we managed somehow in one place, and have our breakfast and started our trekking by 9.0 am.we expect may some water streams will be there in between the trials to spend some time in water but its not there as per our wish.we have seen many homestay/cottage are there on the way. From west wind cottage (last cottage )to peak its only 3.75km trek. After that we seen the checkpost, there we made our entry. There is one petty shop available to refresh yourself. As it’s December hill views started to become brownish(started drying).we reached peak by around 1.0pm and spend some time there, had few photos and started to return. On a overall, its medium level trekking spot,it will be more enjoyable trek during monsoon or post monsoon. From palace junction last local bus will be around 6.20 pm,on that we have reached virajpet, from there again to Bangalore.
