Its a reservoir of Chamera I dam, still in its commissioning phase. You can partake in boating, which is prohibitively costly, but you are free to do so, if you are interested in that sort of thing.

One of the best lakes such an altitude. However please can be maintained in a better way. Lakes had lots of debris from flash flood we should have been cleaned. Please buy your tickets carefully as they won't be refunded. Overall ok ok place.

''11-Feb-15-Reach dharamshala by 1pm and board taxi to reach khajjiar'' The starting point should be either Pathankot or Dalhousie. However, Khajjiar would be dicey in Feb. The road often closed in snow, which doesn't clear immediately, it remains closed for weeks. So, if someone get stuck after reaching Khajjiar, He has to detour a lot to back to Dalhousie.

You are arriving Dalhousie about afternoon so it is only possible to having local sight seeing like Gandhi chowk, Subhash chowk, church etc. Chamera lake is about 35 km and Dainkund is about 20 km from Dalhousie so skip these places and you can enjoy it on another occasion. Next day planning is perfect. First visit kalatop then Khajjiar. My personal advice is go to the kalatop is worth with vehicle only because its about 3 km from Lakkadmandi checkpost. If you have decided to go by...More
