A very nice small temple for offering prayers to Devi Tara ...Sakti shrine...
Oct 2018 • Family
This is a very nice place to visit as it is usually not as crowded as the Kamakhya temple. It was built around 1725 AD by an Ahom king SIva Singha next to a tank called Jor Pukhri. The temple is small and beautiful to view. It is a Sakti shrine as the navel of Sati, the first consort of Shiva is purported to have fallen there. The temple however performs animal sacrifice during Durga Pujas and is currently under renovation of the main temple. I visit this temple regularly as do a lot of the local residents. At times the temple premises are also let out for performing rituals like Annaprasanna , Bhoj etc.

Beautiful Temple

I went to Ugratara Temple. Once you visit Ugratara Temple, you can give a puja to the Goddess Ugratara or simply witness a puja. The best time to visit Ugratara would be during the time of Durga Puja when the temple lights up with mirth and joy and several extensive prayers are sent out in extraordinary manners. It is great place to go.

Temple dedicated to Devi Tara
Oct 2016
Ugra Tara Temple is located in the western side of Jor Pukhuri (two tanks together) in the heart of Guwahati city. Ugratara is considered to be one of the very important Shaktipeeth. There is no actual idol which is worshiped but a small ditch of water which is considered to be the form of Goddess Ugratara.

Peaceful at most times

Have been to this temple during the day on ordinary days. Clean ambience and peaceful though right in the middle of the city. Not commercialised and that is the good part.

Clean well maintained temple
Nov 2016 • Family
We were staying in a hotel in Fancy Bazar area during our vacation in Guwahati and we had traveled by auto to visit this temple which was located at a distance of 2 km only in Uzan Bazar area. The temple premises were neat and clean. Please note that this place is shut in the afternoon between 1 pm to 5.30 pm - we had reached early after completing our visit to Uma Nanda temple and had to wait for the evening puja.

Simple

There's nothing special about this attraction: a small, simple and quaint place worth spending an evening. Visitors to and fro Umananda temple can actually make a halt here. The temple complex however is well maintained and clean.
