- jaideep s15 contributionsA fun day at Elephant beach.Elephant beach can be approached mainly through water (boat) Rs 1000 per person from Havelock jetty ( 30 minute waiting and 15 min boat ride) Or through a walking trail 30-45 min (starting from enroute point of Radhanagar beach). It is not a peaceful beach, However its full of water sports activities. Our favourite was para sailing. Food: Cup o Noodles, samosa, Jhal Moori(akin to bhel puri), fruit chaat and water. Thats it. Paid. : Changing rooms, lockers and washrooms available. Activities: Snorkeling, Para Sailing, Jet ski, Glass bottom boat, Banana boat rides. My kid (8 yrs old boy) loved the rides. We left at 11 am from hotel room and were back in room by 4 pm. Exhausted (Sun and activities). Plan accordinglyVisited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 21, 2023
- MumbaiRidersMumbai, India1,903 contributionsElephant BeachElephant beach can be reached by boat or by Trek at Havelock Island. Both the ways to reach Elephant beach and the boat ride starts at Havelock Island jetty .The trekking point starts close to the Radhanagar beach and its a 2.5 Km trek from Radhanagar to Elephant beach through pristine tropical jungle forrest and finally passing through a mangrove forest to reach the beach. I had opted for the treacherous trek route through ankle deep mud and slippery hill slopes . Guides are available at Rs 500/return trip to the beach and thanks to my guide Sujoy.Mondal and my pair of walking sticks that i completed the trek both ways.. Most of the travelers visit this place in a boat.Elephant beach is very famous for the variety of untouched corals and rich marine life with diverse species. The coral reefs of this beach start about a meter or two from the beach and i did spot vibrant corals and schools of colorful fish swimming around .Sea walking is a unique activity in the Andaman Islands and this activity is available at Elephant beach. Sea walk is the first of its kind in India and you can get this done at Havelock Island.Havelock Elephant beach got its name from Elephants that used to roam in the vicinity of the beach decades ago when elephants were used for timber logging on Havelock and nearby Islands.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten November 13, 2023
- Krtdas75 contributionsExcellent for water activitiesGobonly if you like to do water activities. We did sea walk, snorkeling, glass bottom ride and other rides. Boat provides complimentary snorkeling but one can opt to go in deep sea with extra charge. The arrangement and divers are so talented, even non swimmer like us enjoyed every bit. 3 hours is given for boat passengers. Last boat is around 1pm and activities close by 3pm. Starts by 8:30am depending upon weather conditions.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 9, 2023
- Manan10282Pune, India63 contributionsA good experience but expensiveWater sports at elephant beach are very expensive as compared to other beaches in India. However if with kids its a good destination to do water sports. Some water sorts unique to that region can be explored. Like mini submarine and sea walk. Rest can be done other places in India at a much cheaper rate. However the activities there are well managed. Locker facility is also available. The boat ride to elephant beach is also very expensiveVisited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 3, 2024
- DAVID JBengaluru, India95 contributionsBeach for water sportsThis is a good beach for water sports. You can reach this beach via a boat ride or via trekking. I reached via a boat from havelock jetty. This jetty is a crowded place filled with so many agents/vendors etc. There are people/stalls selling tickets for various water sports, which can be used at elephant beach. Most of these tickets/vouchers can be refunded (some fully, some partially) in case you later decide not to take part in water sports. The boat ride costs Rs.1000 per person (snorkeling is complimentary with boat ticket). It's free for small kids/infants. The elephant beach has very fine sand. Due to lots of water sports happening left and right, this is not a beach to just sit and relax. There are small shacks/stores selling food, coconuts, drinks etc. As usual (at any typical touristic place), prices of items are double the normal rates. Water sports include glass-bottom-ride, Sea walk, jet ski etc. There is locker facility in this beach. There are changing rooms/toilets on the beach. However, due to lack of electricity, the rooms are typically dark.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 15, 2024

Snorkeling, water skiing, para sailing, glass boat are available here are very good. Beach has shallow and clear water and very enjoyable.30 minutes Boat ride takes you from havelock jetty to elephant beach for Rs 950 ( to and fro) and gives you 3 hours to enjoy. Rides close by after noon hence plan this activity in the morning time ( say 8 am). Some activities accept credit card here. But most of them deal in cash since there is NO INTERNET here.

My trip coordinator did not mentioned availability of speed boat for elephant beach. The trek to elephant beach is almost 1.8 km which we were not aware of .. we were bit skeptical bt it turnout to be the best decision. The trek is very beautiful , do carry water bottle with you because it may be tiring for some. Guide are available for 500 rs, Trek is not tat difficult to hire guide services.
Just before you reach beach there are mangrove which are filled to waist level water during high tide..to navigate through it there are people available just before it who dont charge you but if you do any sport activity on elephant beach they get paid..so i would recommend take their services. The beach very beautiful the blue water mesmerize you there are lot of activity here from glass boat to parasailing.

Over a small stretch of the beach, one can pay and enjoy rides like Jet ski, banana boat, standup ride, sitting ride, snorkeling or sea walk (for 14 years to 45 year olds). There were many tourists. Though the travel agents suggest a speedboat to go to Elephant beach, try trekking the 1.8 kms in the forest to reach the beach. It is worth it as it was cool and a pleasant walk. You can see birds, different trees, and hermit crabs and others. A guide at Rs.500 for a group is still cheaper than Rs.1500 speed boat per person.

One of the best places for Snorkeling or Sea walking. When you are visiting Elephant beach, there is a small session of snorkelling that is complimentary with your boat ticket. However, I will recommend going for deep water snorkelling to have a better experience. They charge about 1000 bucks per head for the same and share all underwater photographs taken for your family to your android device.

The beach is clean and maintained. It has a good safety provisions with Life Guards, Forest Reserve Personnel & Volunteers. Jet Ski, Banana Boat Ride, etc all at 600/- per head. Go for the Trek, its much better than the boat version. Trek with the guide (500/-) the running commendatory of the forest is always helpful. ++ there are a few splits on the way & if you haven't been on the road before, you may get lost.
The waters are clear and calm, so you can laze around in the waters for a long time.

List of available activities:
1) Seawalk (Rs. 3200, Rs. 500 for photos/video)
2) Parasailing (Rs. 3200, Rs. 300 for photos/video)
3) Snorkeling (Complimentary 15 mins)
4) Deep sea snorkeling (Rs. 1000 including photos/video)
5) Different types of inflatable boat rides (Rs. 600, Rs. 200 for photos/video
6) Jetski
7) Glass bottom boat Ride
No scuba available here.
You can get tickets for most of the activities in the Havelock jetty where you start your speedboat ride to Elephant Beach. The speedboat ride to and from the beach will cost you Rs. 1000 per person and Rs. 500 for child. The only other way to get to the beach is to trek 2 hrs through the vegetation.
Deep sea snorkeling is a must try even if you don't know swimming. The guide is very professional and will take to till 5m depth to see wonderful corals, different varieties of fishes, feed the fishes etc.. Completely safe.
Seawalk is also a wonderful experience and is a bit cheaper than other places in India.
Parasailing is a bit expensive but you have 3 minutes of high altitude sailing from a place far from the shore. They DO NOT dip you in the water because of safety constraints.
For kids below 4 years old, you can do duck boat (inflatable) riding with the family and Jetski. Jetski will have a guide sitting behind you (the driver). You can have your kid stand in front of you in the Jetski (like in a scooter).
You only get 3hrs time there which is not much considering the amount of activities here. So choose 3 activities you like the most and get to it as soon as you land in the beach.
Locker and restroom facilities are available for a small fee. Changing rooms (Males and Females) are available for free.
There are also some small fruit and chat vendors that you can use for refreshments. The papdi chat in particular was good.

In our entire 7 day andaman trip, organised very well by Andaman bliss, i would recommend to skip a trip to elephant beach.
It is one of the only place in Andaman totally commericalized, over crowded. The free snorkelling is a joke as their aim to convert each person to a paid activity. Snorkeling is done very close to where the boats move.
But all the water activities are very professional done. They have paid changing rooms, showers etc available.
Enough seating and place is even senior citizen friendly.
Actually if you find a trekking guide than one can trek from Havelock to Elephant beach, which we missed as lack of prior information.

Beautiful beach.... with lots of water activities options(Jet ski, snorkelling, sea walk). Its a day trip, you need to take a boat ride from jetty which will cost you 900 bucks for to and fro. It will take around 15-20 mintues to reach there and view is awesome. You have lots of options of water sports or you can just chill at the beach. You will get fruits salad and chats over there. There is no elephant view or something. The name of beach is elephant because eariler days elephant used to live around that beach. You can be at the beach for 2-3 hours so plan the rest of the day accordingly.

This is an absolute gem!
We had an amazing boatman - a lot of your ability to do your activities depends on this guy! choose carefully (if you can)
You can get a fill of everything undersea, on sea, above sea here and the ride both ways is just too good!
Keep money and phone safe in a waterproof pouch, limit stuff you carry, change of clothes is desirable but not a deal breaker - keep it light. Leave footwear in the boat - absolutely safe
There are safes there to store, changing rooms and toilets
Lots of shade to chill out
Basic food is also available for hunger pangs!
Try and leave by 10, the boat is allotted only 3 hours parking at the beach. Departure at 10 means the crowd is less

Over rated and avoidable and sure way of destroying fragile ocean ecosystem.
This is the only beach offering water sports , snorkeling and sea walks in havelock. Entire experience is supposed to be for 3 hours. Accessible by short boat ride from the jetty . Chaos starts from the crowded jetty itself . Everyone is assigned a boat and guide. Every person visiting is entitled to free snorkeling at shallow water..There are no restaurants in this beach..Changing rooms are available.
Once you arrive you can choose to go for a number of activities like snorkeling, banana boat ride, jet ski , glass bottom boat ride , sea walk etc.
Free snorkeling means you will be given a snorkel and you swim in designated area where there's no marine life ..For going ahead with a full faced snorkel and life jacket/ tube etc with a guide charges are INR 1000 for half an hour. There one can see some corals and fish . These are fast diminishing due to excessive crowd, fume from jet skis and boats. Glass bottom boat is decent option for people who doesn't want to get inside water. Some coral and fish can be seen.
Sea walk is reasonably good though it takes almost 1.5 hours including boatride to the barge, formalities, instructions and waiting . Actual time inside sea in about 15 minutes..Cost was 3500 per person . It was an unique experience to walk next to sea and corals on ocean bed . We received photos and videos of the same too.
3 hours basically allows maximum 3 activities provided you reach by max 11 am..All boats had to leave elephant beach by 3.30 pm .
This is the only experience in havelock which I didn't enjoy as it was too crowded , noisy and polluting the sea unlike rest of Havelock

The boat that takes you to Elephant beach from Havelock you will have to take the same to return back

Are there still any elephants at Elephant Beach? I understand the last swimming elephant is gone now, but are there any elephants at all walking around on the beach?
Written February 16, 2022
Hi.. is transfer from jetty to elephant beach is only through jet boats? Is there not any other option as i will be carrying my 7 months old baby. Should i not go with baby to this beach?
Written November 10, 2019
Yes transfer from Havelock Jetty to Elephant beach is only by jet boats. There are plenty of them and the ride is generally not rough but bit bumpy at times (refer my video upload to get an idea of the ride). Jet boats are fast and doesn't take long to reach elephant beach. The beach is small but beautiful and best for snorkelling and the snorkelling guide also shoots video for you as you perform snorkelling (refer my other video to check out snorkelling experience). The stay at the beach is generally for 3 to 4 hrs. The same jet will drop you back at Havelock. Considering all the fun factor, enjoyment, risk and ride I leave it up to you to decide that whether you wanna carry your 7 months old child or not. I hope my reply would be helpful.

What are the activities famous here? And are they still operational?
Written October 15, 2019
We came back from our holidays 2 weeks back and I can say that the famous ones over there are - banana ride, speed boat / jet ski, para sailing. Not sure about snorkelling however the sea walk was closed due to some unfortunate accidents
Written October 19, 2019
The time is almost fixed. The boats take you there by 10am and mostly will return by 2pm. 4 hours is good enough to roam around the small strip of island, beach games + snorkeling, Ocean walk, water scooters, etc.
There are rest rooms, lockers for dress, eateries, at a nominal cost.
Written September 2, 2019
Hi ... this depends on the monsoon. It will start to rain around September through November and hence most of the sea activities will be closed including this one.
My guess is you might be taking chances visiting Andaman during September. My suggestion is to plan after December so that you get to visit different islands.
Pl also check with some local tour operator or hotel about visiting Andaman in September .

Can you walk to the beach without a guide?
Written June 30, 2019
Yes why not ! As such there is nothing to be seen which requires guides help

Except Scuba all other water activity's ideal place is elephanta beach at havelock , for scuba north bay island is better place.
