If you love a good local beer this is a great place to visit. You can walk from one brewery to another and hit local pubs and food joints. You are in between downtown and the short north all with in walking distance.

Endless amount of places to check out within walking distance. A great variety and I ended up really liking at least one beer at every spot we went to. They give out punch cards letting you about every brewery around.
Restaurants with free parking in Downtown Cbus? (2 Replies)
Looking for restaurants in downtown Columbus or nearby German Village/Brewery District/etc with free parking (not meter parking). Spaghetti Warehouse comes to mind. Are there others?

Are you looking only for restaurants with dedicated free parking lots, or is free street parking + walking an option? I can't think off-hand of any in downtown proper with lots. I know CBC in the Brewery District has a lot. Big Room Bar at the southern end of the BD. Some of the places along High St in the BD have lots, although I think some (Arepazo) comes to mind, share them with offices and they're only available after a certain time.
Worth a stop? (10 Replies)
I'm planning to spend a few days in Ohio at the end of May. I'm going to be in Morgantown, WV on a Tuesday night, arriving in Cincinnati in time for a Wednesday night Reds game. I plan to go to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Thursday and spend Friday and Saturday in Cleveland (Indians-Yankees series and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). My question is whether to stop in Columbus on the way to or from Cincinnati. If I don't stop in Columbus on the way to Cincinnati, I should have about five...More

It would be helpful to know what you hope to accomplish on your visit. You mentioned German Village. If you like historic neighborhoods, there are several surrounding the downtown area, German Village being one of them. Victorian Village, Italian Village are also close by. You could easily spend a few hours just walking the streets enjoying the architecture. You also mentioned the Brewery District. I haven't been down there in a few years, but most of the business has moved north to the Arena...More
weekend of October 15-what's doin'? (3 Replies)
I will be in Columbus to visit family that moved to the Brewery District several months ago and had a hard time getting a room. Does anyone know what is going on this coming weekend? Every reasonably priced hotel was booked. I managed to get a room at the downtown Red Roof Inn. The clerk said that there were only a couple rooms left when I called!

The Red Roof Inn downtown is a fine location and will be pretty close to the Brewery District. I don't know what exactly is going on that weekend. I think there is a home football game for Ohio State University and there might be some home NHL games. Maybe some large concert or show will overbook.
