While visiting Columbus during Valentine's Day weekend, we opted for a dinner and movie. Who knew AMC not only got this correct, but their customer service was paramount. The chairs and table tops were large and allowed a firm grasp of the cups. This is a great design. The dinner and alcoholic beverages were fantastic and served at the right temperature. If we resided in Columbus, this would definitely be our theater of choice. Great job AMC!

On a recent business trip to Columbus, Ohio, I had a free evening and wanted to get some dinner and see a movie. The Easton Town Center (see my review) was the place for this. After a fabulous dinner at Mitchell's Ocean Club (see my review), the AMC 30 in Easton Town Center is only a few steps away and it has everything - IMAC, MacGuffins Bar & Lounge (beer, wine, and cocktails), the Cafe (for frozen drinks and sweet snacks), movie snacks and meals (popcorn, candy, nachos, and all), and Dine-In Theater (special table seating with waitress and menu). I entered this clean and spacious large theater complex, picked up a few beers from MacGuffins, went to the counter to get popcorn and a box of candy, and sat in a comfortable seat and totally enjoyed my movie. Afterwards, I used their restrooms which were clean and functional.

There is an interesting story behind the AMC Theaters which began in 1920 when the Dubinsky Brothers – Maurice, Edward and Barney – who had a vaudeville act with the well known actress Jeanne Eagels - decided to go into the picture show business. They purchased the Regent Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri, changed their name to the more acceptable "Durwood" and the Durwood Theater was born. They slowly bought more theaters, but the real innovation started in 1961, when Edward's son, Stanley, took control of Durwood Theatres when his father died. Stanley first renamed their small theater chain American Multi-Cinema, Inc. (AMC). Then while reviewing income to his 600-seat Roxy theater in Kansas City, which would typically only have a crowd of 300 or less he realized that if he remodeled the theater to have two screens with 300-seats each showing different films, he could greatly increase his proceeds with the same size staff. His innovation was so successful, that he began to convert all his theaters into 'multiplexes' and created a revolution in the motion picture business. As his concept grew, so did AMC and now they have 346 locations mostly in North America. Eventually AMC was bought out by the Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group which continues to expand the multiplex concept to other nations.

I can highly recommend an evening's entertainment at the AMC 30 in Easton Town Center because with 30 choices of films, there is bound to be one you will enjoy and your choices of food are extensive. The theater is clean, the workers are friendly, and there is plenty of parking at Easton Town Center.

Extremely dirty theater. Dine-in seats were torn and tattered, menus were sticky and covered in food, theater has filthy floors from lobbies to actual theaters, bathrooms etc. Not what you expect at Easton.

In terms of service, all the popcorn is pre-made and bagged which is a major negative. Who wants popcorn that has been sitting for an hour? Then, it took over an hour to receive ordered food items. Servers were taking food everywhere trying to determine who ordered what. I would advocate for them to get rid of the dine in experience, and just get back to the basics. Shockingly poor, and filthy.

This is our main goto movie place.
It’s large lots of screens. The snack bar is always dirty. The icey area is sticky and always popcorn on the floor.

One this visit one of the tables connected to the seat must have had oil (butter). All over it unfortunately I sat my coat down on it while getting seated.

In the middle of the movie I noticed the same oil all over my hands and left to wash them.

I complained to a manager and got a very nasty reply.

I have called corporate and they don’t seem to care.

Not sure how this gets such high reviews.

I'm beyond shocked at how good the food is at this theater.

I was thrilled at the dine-in concept in the first place, but when I heard they have servers running around my excitement kind of dwindled.

However, I outsmarted myself and opted for the Dolby theater - no servers but you can bring in any of the food you order from the bar. As you would expect, it wasn't cheap but honestly, it was about the same as any other sit-down restaurant -$8 - $10 appetizers and $12 burgers. Ordered brussels sprouts (the smell was NOT a hit with our movie-going neighbors. Whoops). and they were crispy, cheesy, and delicious. The wings were really good - a little crispy but not dry. And a great burger to boot.

The Dolby theatre shook my very soul. What a wonderful way to watch a movie. I can still feel it in my bones!

Great food at the movies. Who knew?

We went to the dine in experience. Great seats, service was a bit slow but I wasn't expecting a restaurant style experience. First time in a movie theater for several years. Got tired of people talking through the moving and being smashed into the seats. However I definitely will go to this theater again.

We are regulars at our hometown "dinner and a movie" concept theater. We know what to expect and what not to expect. Our expectations were not met at this AMC Dine-In location. Hard-to-find (due to construction), dirty (lobby, bathrooms and theater), slow service and cold food. The clerk in the lobby was overwhelmed in helping a crush of customers, but she was pleasant. The theater complex is large and comfortable.

Upon entering our specific theater, we immediately noticed that it looked like it had not been cleaned since the previous showing. When we sat down, we noticed the areas around our seats were still dirty (crumbs, used napkins, condiments out of place or gone completely, wrapped silverware on floor, menus sticking to the service trays). Apparently an on-site manager is not responsible for checking each theatre for proper reset?

Our server was pleasant, but incredibly slow. Beverage refills took forever, as did our food order. When we received our ultimate nachos, they were tasty, but cold. Some chunks of the chicken still felt frozen. Prices for the portion were acceptable.

When leaving, I noticed that the attendant's station in our theater was overflowing with garbage. It was overflowing when we came in, and even more so, with garbage scattered on the flow. Again, apparently there is no on-site manager inspecting theaters before/after showings. And, this is the fault of management for not maximising servers/attendants time during the movie. The same can be said of the bathrooms. Used paper towels on the floor, paper depleted in numerous stalls.

And another small piece of the customer service experience that went wrong? AMC actually charges a service/processing fee to use a gift card. Seriously, I was charged to use a prepaid gift card? And, the tickets were delivered digitally!

Would we return to this theater complex? Nope. Not when we know there are better options.
