A nice walk adjacent large meadows and park areas. Frontal views of the waterway bridges with the downtown in backdrop practically beg to be photographed. The "Golden Hour" in this area would provide no shortage of fodder for perspective or modern life photographers. The views are beautiful but never quite achieve the feeling of a nature experience with the park set adjacent to the downtown area with roads running parallel. To those walking alone, there are some spots along the trails that do lead into darker areas. In broad daylight it's negligible. However you get the impression you may not want to stroll at dusk or later. Nonetheless, the views and area history are unique and well worth the time.

We easily found parking on Sunday afternoon on the promenade area for free, not sure where we would've parked otherwise. Only spent 25 minutes walking here while in between downtown activities. Picturesque layout and overloop of the river. Nearby building were recently rioted and have boards and grafiti covering the faces which was sad and distracted from the beauty. Too many people on scooters zooming past and several homeless people. Don't leave valuables in your car, be mindful of your surroundings, and watch your elbows so you don't get knocked into by scooters.

Loved strolling this area. Chose the street level path which had nice benches, foliage, excellent views of the river and downtown.
There was also a lower path that followed the river. The joggers and bikers seemed to prefer that path. Not sure if the views are as good down there.

My Daughter and I visited The Scioto Mile area one afternoon. This area of downtown Columbus Ohio is great for an outdoor day with the family. This area is very well upkept and the trail goes along way. You can rent bikes or scooters or just sit in the grass and have a picnic. You can also get some really great photos of downtown columbus in the background. You can also sit along the pathside on some benched or swings they have placed. You can walk solo, as couples or with your kids and just enjoy the great outdoors.... take your kayak and paddle down the scioto river

Great walk on river side. Parking on street depends on time is $1 per an hour. Go for a relaxing walk along the river. Sunset is the best tune.

There is more to this site than simply a mile walk. There are actually several miles of well-maintained hiking paths. While taking them, you can see a good view of downtown Columbus. There is also an extremely amazing and quite large fountain. During summer months there are several ongoing events, ( including music and dining ). Bikers can also this wonderful destination. A portion of the "Mile" offers excellent viewing of the Scioto River, gardens with plenty of benches. Wear comfortable shoes.

The area was so clean and very well maintained I would hope to pass by here again! It’s definitely good for running, walking and biking! It probably looks gorgeous during the summer time but it was fall and the leaves changed colors!

This was a beautiful area for a walk. Everything was clean, well maintained and free of trash. Plenty of people walking and biking in the area. It was so nice to just enjoy the day and not be too worried about the atmosphere or whether two females were in a dangerous place.

Look i know it is not about the park (Bicentennial park is perfectly lovely, kids seemed to have enjoyed it), but i got really pissed with Milestore 229.
I travel with my ESA, and before going into the restaurant I ask if it is ok with them. So this time I also asked the host if i could sit on a patio with my ESA, the young man assured me that it was ok as long as we were on a patio. But once we set down and started looking over menu, the waitress came in to us and said that we couldn't bring animals out there. I explained that this was my ESA and that the hostess assured me this was ok. But the waitress kept insisting that we couldn't stay. No apologies. Nothing. That's NOT ok.

The Scioto Mile itself is miles of walking paths, trails, fountains, and gardens with resting areas. Which is FREE!

The Columbus Commons garage is a short walk, maybe 2 blocks. Also, at the Millieum there is valet parking. You could get lucky and find a metered street parking spot.
is it open today

There are many Hotels within a very short walking distant from the Scioto Mile. Most will be located in the Convention Center Area of North High Street and Nationwide Blvd. All the Addresses should be less than 1000. There is Drury's, Red Roof, Hyatt, Holiday Inn, and Hilton mostly in the Arena District two to three Block walk to the River. Quality Inn on Town St. four block walk. On S. High St. is the WESTIN at Main St. two block walk. There are also others on South High Street with addresses below 1000. A bit further but are still walkable is you are so inclined.
Driving will be gridlock on High St. between Greenlawn to the South and Fifth Ave to the North. Broad St West to the I-70 Interstate and East to I-71. Third Street will be bumper to bumper toward the South getting to the Freeway on ramp. Fourth Street North will be just as bad to get on the Freeway.
My many years of experience has lead me to plan to stay late at the site I choose to watch July 3th Fireworks, this year on Friday Night. Technically, I live about 2 miles away from Downtown Columbus. Best way to get around is to walk have a cooler with you that has wheels on it or a wagon to carry your stuff. If not staying in one of the many Hotels in Downtown Columbus. Fireworks usually ends about 10:00 - 10:30 pm. getting away from Downtown Columbus can take you 1.5 to 3.0 hours depending on where you live are able to park close enough to see the Fireworks. Display.
To have a good experience, plan on rain this year, bring plenty of ideas to entertain the kids, many refreshments, money no concern vendors are everywhere but for a hefty price, get there early, plan to stay late, the display maybe delayed usually will go on weather permitting (which usually it does), and most of all relax it is only time and if you are the impatient type stay home and watch it on Channel 4 or 6 one of them will being broadcasting it live.
If you are able to get a room close except to pay a premium.

Hey. I want to spend a romantic 20-30 minutes with my husband at Scioto Mile at midnight to celebrate his birthday. Do you have any idea if it is possible. Are there any benches which are accessible all night or are they only in parks which shut down by then? Thanks a lot in advance!

There are several benches along the walkway of the Scioto Mile and the lighting is beautiful. I think you should be able to walk and sit along this site after midnight, since technically it is a street. Enjoy the beautiful view and the romantic lighting. The weather is very warm now, it should be wonderful.
