Festive area of town especially before a Bluejacket game or when the Columbus Crew are playing at Lower.com Field. I was here twice this past year to watch World Cup Qualifying games. Whistle and Keg is worth checking out as is Betty's Bar for a totally different yet fun experience.

Nationwide Arena is fantastic, we are hockey fans and love this place, but the district itself is also great! Pretty much any kind of food or shopping you like, lots of parking, plenty of hotels, lots to do to entertain you!

The Arena is a fantastic venue for sports, concerts and other things.
The surrounding area, referred to as the Arena District, is packed with many dining and drinking options covering all price ranges and tastes.
When big events are happening, it is AMAZING with energy and excitement. Something is there for everyone and it is THE PLACE TO BE!!
However, right now, when there is no event at the Arena, it’s pretty much empty. Over time, I think this will change as the area continues to grow.

How safe is the Arena District? Not to safe!!! When my son Nick Foss, was struck outside the Gaswerks Bar falling and hitting his head where were the police? Just standing around. When someone yelled for them to stop the man when he was running away, they just looked. My son died 3 days later of a brain injury as a direct result of this man hitting him.

This city was built with cars in mind but this is one area where you can walk with little interference from traffic as most of the parking and vehicles are on the periphery.
Certainly the big attractions are events at Huntington Park, where the AAA Clippers play baseball and Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL Blue Jackets.
The number of bars and restaurants are adequate and I have had decent experiences at them. My main reason for visiting is the gem of a baseball stadium at Huntington Park.

If your grabbing dinner before a show or cocktails before the hockey game, you've got plenty of close by options. Book early as Columbus is growing and eateries fill fast.

We came from NYC so we didn't know what to expect. We were more than pleasantly surprised with the Arena District. Numerous restaurants, bars etc. Very friendly people, reasonable prices, safe, and a great time had by all

The arena district is filled with mostly chain restaurants and the Park Street bars are really just drinking places for people in their early 20s. Gordon Biersch is decent for a chain, but you're also close enough to some good restaurants and breweries on High St. I'd recommend skipped the restaurants in the arena district and heading to some nearby spots like Barley's brewery.

Is the arena district the same thing as the brewery district?

No they are not the same. Both are worth visiting.
