I wandered in here during a docent tour and caught the end of it. Fascinating and worth a repeat. The artistry of the stained glass and the small chapel is quite impressive. A gem in the middle of one of the most beautiful cemeteries.

Spend some quiet time. Ask the Docent to tell You about the Mosaics and the way they were transported by barge to Cleveland. Enjoy the beautiful Tiffany glass. And if You are fortunate enough to be invited to a Wedding here. Please go. A real Treasure in Lake View Cemetery.

The Wade memorial Chapel is Closed on the inside Nov 1. But is still a nice place to walk around and enjoy the scenic area. The famous stained glass was made by the artist Tiffany.

It is one of the few interiors left in the world that was totally designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and his studios. Wade Memorial Chapel is located in Cleveland's Lake View Cemetery. It has a Tiffany stained glass window, flanked by two walls of Tiffany mosaics. Lake View Cemetery Cleveland Ohio Wade Chapel stained glass window Wade Chapel’s interior is illuminated by the awe-inspiring stained glass window, The Flight of Souls, by which the consummation of the Divine Promise is depicted. Created in Tiffany’s signature “Favrile” method, where opalescent, iridescent, and translucent pieces of glass are layered to create rich, deep colors, it’s apparent the intended focus of the Chapel is the window. Before being installed, the window won a gold medal during the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris, giving it credibility as an important example of Tiffany’s highly- prized ecclesiastical work.
The mosaic on the west wall of the Chapel symbolizes the prophecy and the law of the Old Testament. The east wall of Wade Chapel symbolizes the fulfillment of the laws of the Prophets through the birth of Christianity. Both 32’ X 8’ mosaic walls, designed by Frederick Wilson, were constructed in the Tiffany Studios in New York and re-assembled in Wade Chapel.
Local architects, Hubbell and Benes, designed the exterior of Wade Chapel; consisting of a pediment, columns, Ionic capitals and portico, all in the Neo-Classical style.

Missed previously, made effort and it was amazing. Worth paying ride-share while inside. Got info & maps at office as souvenirs. Suggestion: check hours as not always open. Photos of stained glass not nearly as good as real thing. Interesting info from volunteer inside. Unexpected, lovely mosaics side walls. Casket lift from basement when stored due to weather was interesting. Had seen Garfield & many areas of cemetery before. Plan a good while there if 1st visit.

Get there early - they stop giving tours at 4PM and it really makes a difference. The tour guide (or docent) we had explained everything. The tours are free

The Wade Memorial Chapel, located in Lake View Cemetery, was constructed in 1901 in memory of Jeftha Wade.
Upon entering the chapel, you will see a large, spectacular stained glass window designed by Louis Tiffany. Also designed by Tiffany are the beautiful mosaics on the walls of the chapel.
The chapel is open year round and is used for weddings, funerals and open to visitors who appreciate the work of Louis Tiffany. The chapel overlooks a pond with a waterfall with beautiful landscaping.
It's a must see when you visit Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.

We dropped in to the Wade Memorial Chapel while in Lake View Cemetery recently. The 1901-era Neoclassical structure is situated part way up the grade from the ponds that lie toward the northern end of the cemetery, and was built in memory of Jeptha Wade who founded Western Union. According to the attendant, the chapel is available for a fee as a resource to hold a variety of private ceremonies or events.
The chapel itself is simple enough, notwithstanding the bronze entry doors -- it's a single room on a single level, but adorned with some magnificent features. In the center is a Tiffany stained glass window entitled The Flight of Souls, with the opposing walls covered by Tiffany mosaics depicting the Old Testament laws on the west side and the fulfillment of those laws on the east side. The mosaics are huge and composed of literally hundreds of thousands of pieces.
It's not a huge place but it's certainly unique. Count on about 15 minutes to see it.

While the Wade Chapel is a beautiful building to visit you are missing a great deal if you don't stay to listen to a docent's presentation. The interpretation of the mosaic art is fascinating.
