Just back from fishing with Rob Huffman of SAO. My oldest son and I fished with him March 2022. After that experience we decided we needed to bring my other son this year. Both years we faced weather challenges (steelhead fishing!) but Rob's local knowledge of the rivers and fly fishing techniques put us on fish. He was flexible with our schedule and easily adapted to the different skill levels with a fly rod. As the most experienced I found his input and instructions very useful and helpful. And the best part - he is just fun to fish with!
I have used 15-20 guides in multiple parts of the country over the last 20 years. I would rank Rob with the very best of them and highly recommend him to anyone wanting the fish the Steelhead Alley waters.

We have been fishing with Steelhead Alley Outfitters for 10 years or more. They have consistently delivered for us every time. They help you find the fish, provide the coaching you desire to improve your odds of catching these truly remarkable fish and help you get these monsters to the net.
This year was particularly special.
Our guide Josh Trammell epitomized what we have come to expect from SAO. With years of angling experience locally, and in the wilderness of Alaska Josh is the complete angler/coach. He also happens to be a great guy!
This year was particularly special for me as Josh coached us through some very difficult conditions to some very large fish. Conditions were brutal. (Ice chunks Floating down River!) I would not have even attempted this much less been successful without the benefit of Josh’s experience.
On day two Josh saw that the weather would likely make the steelhead rivers un-fishable and he made a suggestion that saved the trip!!!
He suggested we try angling for Northern Pike on a nearby river that would remain fishable regardless of the weather.
We floated in Josh’s drift boat and I caught my first Northern Pike on the fly! In fact we encountered several and landed 2!
This service is well worth the investment for beginner to advanced anglers. They showed me things I did not think were possible!

You have always been a joy to have on the water over the years as have all the crew you fish with. Thank you for the kind words about Josh! He has been with us since he was in his mid-teens and has grown into a great guide as you experienced. I'm glad to know you had another great day on the water and also experienced your first Pike on the fly. Nothing like the take of a Northern! I’ve done multiple floats and group floats with Steelhead Alley Outfitters and each time it has been nothing short of impressive.
Communication is amazing, easy to work with, hard working, fast responses back, knowledgeable and just an overall amazing group of guides. I’ve grown so much as an angler working with Steelhead Alley Outfitters.
So far I’ve floated with Josh Trammell for steelhead, pike and bass every time I was impressed by his knowledge and love for the water. I’ve also be able to float with Dan Bennitt and Stephen Nymick for steelhead. Throughly impressed with both of them as well. The entire staff is filled with fantastic guides.
The group trip that we did was a two day ladies trip. We had women from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio and Vermont come in for this trip. Not only did the service do an amazing job communicating to us about the float. They also helped us find Airbnb’s, Hotels and suggested restaurants in town for the ladies. The ladies all enjoyed the trip and are already looking forward to next year.
Once again, impressive guide service. I will definitely be using them again for personal and group trips. Thank you, Steelhead Alley for always putting in the work and making each experience epic!

My dad and I had an awesome day yesterday on the Grand River. We are novice fly fisherman but Josh was an excellent teacher and the result was 16 steelhead in the net by the end of the day. Fishing is fishing and we got lucky in that we had perfect conditions and the fish were hungry but even on a tougher day these guys will give you the best possible chance at catching these amazing fish. The river was absolutely beautiful, often the outside bends are lined with steep cliffs lined with hemlocks and intermittently broken up by the tiniest trickle of a waterfall. In addition to hundreds of fish we saw 4 bald eagles, numerous kingfishers and woodpeckers and turtles sunning themselves. There was virtually nobody out on the water despite it being prime time because most of the spots we fished are either only accessible by raft or require several miles of walking in waders. I would definitely recommend a float trip it is worth every penny.

Once again SAO outfitters proves why they are the best outfitter on the alley. Once again Justin, Patrick, Nate, Stephen, Dan, and Josh knocked it out of the park. This is the eighth hosted trip I have run to the alley. When you are hosting a week long trip with 2 groups of 10 people everything must run smoothly. This is one of the reasons I use SAO outfitters. From the first phone call till the last fish is landed one word comes to mind, professional. These guys do it right and I am thankful for that.
When hosting trips my reputation is on the line, that is why I trust Steelhead Alley Outfitters to guide for us.

What a trip! My brother, a friend, and I spent 3 days fishing with Rob and I can tell you it is very apparent how much he loves what he does. An absolute pleasure to be around. He made sure he found us fishable water everyday, in the midst of ever changing water conditions. He worked around our skill levels and pace...and man did he put us on fish! I have fished in many places in North America, alongside many different guides and it's the rare occasion when my arm get's sore from catching fish! But in my experience, fish fade and it's the memories of the time spent with fiends and family that lasts. And Rob did everything right to make a bunch of great memories. Thanks Rob!

Went out today on a beautiful river in PA and had a blast, caught a lot of big beautiful fish with Stephen. Very good time, there is no better guide then Stephen, he teaches all the methods and techniques to make sure you land as many fish as possible, it was a very fun time. I have steelhead fished and brown trout fished with Stephen and both trips have exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend Stephen and the steelhead alley outfitters.

Every time that I get the opportunity to explore Steelhead Alley with Nate Miller of Steelhead Alley Outfitters I am thrilled to learn new water and become a better fisherman. First off - Nate is a really good person who is fun to be around. Nate finds the ideal spot coaches you when needed and when I did my part and made the cast he told me to make - I had a fish on the hook The team at SAO work together to give their clients a great day on the water. I caught my first steelhead several years ago with Nate and had 8 fish in the net this time Thanks to Nate I am getting better and better every time I go to the rivers . It keeps getting more fun.

Once again I had another great trip with SAO. Took my girlfriend along this time And Josh did did an excellent job. He worked with her all day to teach her how to fly fish and went above and beyond to get her on fish. Needless to say she was thrilled to catch fish her first time out and is looking forward to our next trip.

I had another excellent experience booked through SAO. Whether the pursuit is swinging for fresh chrome or chasing big browns, SAO is without a doubt the only option for me.
My recent trip was full of big water, big flies, and most importantly big wild fish! Stephen Nymick with Steelhead Alley Outfitters provided exemplary instruction to assist me with landing my new personal best brown trout.
