Wow. A great place to hike, take photos and enjoy nature just outside of Youngstown. Very scenic and enjoyable.

Established in 1891 by Volney Rogers, Mill Creek Park is Ohio’s first park district. It now spans 4500+ acres and includes 3 lakes (Glacier, Newport, Cohasset), historic Lanterman’s Mill, Fellows Riverside Gardens, Ford Nature Center and Mill Creek Golf Course, to name just a few of the park’s highlights. If you love nature, you’ll love Mill Creek Park! I grew up a stone’s throw away from Lake Newport but as a kid took the park’s beauty for granted. It wasn’t until I moved away that I began to appreciate what a gem it truly is. Mill Creek Park is my favorite place to visit whenever I am in the area. Go ahead and explore the winding roads and trails! Beautiful in every season; my favorite is autumn when the trees are ablaze with red, yellow, and orange leaves. See the Mill Creek Metroparks website for help on planning your visit.

...city park in America. No joke - I was quite surprised when I took a ride out here from Pittsburgh the other day. I mean I heard some things about Youngstown being this and that and not sounding all that inviting, and this was my first stop and it was amazing. Spent quite a few hours hiking both sides of the creek, once starting out from Lanterman's Mill, and next by Lily Pond. Hey the time of the year helped out big time. Autumn foliage starting to brown but still many with their fading colors wilting on branches - a final fight of beauty against winter. I wasn't here for autumn's peak, but I'm sure today was no less beautiful. The marquee sites of Lanterman's Mill, Cinderella Bridge, Lily Pond, etc will not disappoint you so go. And if you're looking for something like solitude and serenity, take the trails.
