Had we not received a coupon for a free ornament where we stayed, we would not have known about this place. An impressive offering of metal work products, ranging from trays, Christmas ornaments, bowls and sports ornaments. At the back of the store are the remaining forge machinery that is fun to explore. If you've had your fill of cheese and meat shops, this is worth a trip.

Wendell August was uncrowded on a June weekend and the air conditioned store was a nice break from the stifling heat. Also thre out trash from car and used restrooms. Oh yeah, we bought some stuff too. Christmas ornaments and selected jewelry items were on sale on our visit. The forge demonstration area was interesting although could have used more signage. it was also hard to navigate as almost the entire area was taken up by tables of more mark down merchandise, mostly Pittsburgh scenes. I know the the manufacturing is done in Pennsylvania, but it seems to me that most people don't go to Ohio's Amish country looking for souvenirs of Pittsburgh. They did have a lot of collegiate themed items, but it seems to me they would do better to sell platters, etc with scenes of Ohio's three C's- CLeveland, Columbus, and CIncinnati. My wife was looking at celtic cross necklace but we found a large stamped wall one for the same price. Bought other marked down jewelry as well. Lots to choose from and a video to watch if you have the time.

WOW!!! This place is great!!! Awesome gifts and the entire store is so welcoming and beautiful. So many great items to buy, MADE in AMERICA and handcrafted out of pewter and mostly aluminum. Will definitely be going back.

This business has been in operation almost 100 years. Very large displays of hammered aluminum pieces - purses to trays to jewelry. Can be very pricey, but there were lovely stud earrings $12, ornaments $10 - $15, coasters $15. We noticed there were pieces with the skylines of various cities that would make nice gifts. Yes, the world's largest Amish buggy, but also a nice historical display of vintage WA pieces, some of which were for sale. Pleasant, helpful staff, with no "hard sell". Free admission.

I shop at Wendell August 2 to 4 times a year. Their aluminum and bronze products are a very high quality and unique.
I've purchased Christmas ornaments for many years. So many in fact I have a bronze ornament tree and an aluminum ornament tree.
Another item I recommend buying is a switch plate. Because their items are pricey, these are a great way to introduce their designs into your decor without breaking the bank.
Many people miss this experience when traveling to Ohio Amish country. But if you're in Berlin, it's only about 5 miles or so to it.
Make a point and go. You won't be sorry.

Stopped in here on a group tour. The history of the forge is interesting. There are numerous items to purchase ranging from jewelry to christmas ornaments. The ornaments are gorgeous. They even alow visitors to "Hammer" out a design for an small fee. Makes a great souvenir. Some items are a little pricey but the items are well made

We got a coupon from our hotel for a free Wendell August ornament. My only complaint is , they make you feel like a free loader when you go to the counter to receive your free gift if you aren't buying anything else. Otherwise, they have beautiful pieces. Just not a very friendly place. Could have just been the day , I don't know.

My brother took us here for a quick visit while visiting Amish Country - we ended up spending over 2 hours shopping. This place is incredible - lots of unique items - handcrafted copper, pewter, etc. Prices to fit almost every budget.

My wife and I visited this shop and weren't all that impressed by it. We felt the pricing was way too high for the items up for sale. The movie they show, giving the history of Wendell August and his craft was interesting, but this isn't a place we would ever go back to.
