Vino Žorž

Vino Žorž

About
The growing and production of wine have been present in the Žorž family from Slap since 1696 and they are a reminder of their tradition, nowadays supported by the modern touch in the art of wine making. With a production of wine extending on an area of nearly 30 acres, the Žorž farm is one of the largest familly owned winery in the Vipava Valley. Žorž vineyards are sowed with red grapes varieties, such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera, as well as white grape varieties Pinot Gris, Sauvignon, Muscat Blanc, Malvasia, Riesling, as well as local varieties Zelen and Pinela. The Žorž family uses modern equipment with which they produce an astonishing variety of top-notch wines. The key to their exquisite wines and excellent success lies in the accomplished vision and common work of the Žorž generations. In recent years, the wine making part has been already passed to the youngest generation who seeks new opportunities in the combination of their professional knowledge and the experience of their fathers. In the year of 2015, cellar Žorž became also biological, which proves that we are following the newest and the best trends in wine producing. The Žorž farm and wine cellar offers you bottled wines which will convince you with the nobleness of flavor, aroma and color. Taste them on various occasions alongside a gourmet dish and enjoy the wine in a completely new way. In the atrium of wine cellar Žorž you can make a wish in the oldest farm fountain in Slovenia and start an unforgetable journey throught our wine cellar. The doors to the Žorž farm and wine cellar are always open for you!

We did a tasting after several in the area and this was definitely the worst.
6 wines tasted and none appreciable.
Ridiculous amount of wine in the glass. Still good cutting board.
Wines produced really badly, compared to those that are offered in the area

Very nice wine night! Everything was neatly ready and the girl who explained the wines was very enthusiastic! She only just did it but tried very hard! The wines were very different which was nice to taste. The snacks were more than sufficient! It was almost a whole meal. It was also cozy with the other guests, so had a nice evening!

Located in a small picturesque Slovenian village Slap (Waterfall), this winery is truly something special. A young knowledgeable couple will spoil you with their admirably balanced and successful products. Take it from a local - the experience could not have been better! They do not mind if you really just taste. They experiment a bit with tastes and approaches, but not at the expense of quality. Jernej has studied oenology, so he knows what he is doing, while his wife has been declared "a wine queen" in 2014. This means not only beauty, but brain, too! The winery has existed for generations, but now proudly presents modern knowledge of a young couple taking over. They are eager, proud and sparkly. You will enjoy the small, picturesque village with mountains in the background, as well as the old house with renovated wine storage facilities. We actually just popped by with some friends (we were two couples) and did not need any previous appointment. We stayed at a nearby bed and breakfast and decided for wine tasting next morning. Naturally, we did not drink much in the morning, but it was difficult to decide what to take home. Of notice, the surroundings seem really excellent for serious cycling trips as well. There are also good hiking and dining opportunities in the area. I liked tasting Vino Zorz because it felt so nice and intimate, almost like visiting your own friends, yet I enjoyed the high quality of their wines (I am a slight snob when it comes to this, hahaha). Feels off the beaten path enough for me. Since we enjoyed it so much, I doubt I will look elsewhere next time. :)

Came here on a private wine tour (3 friends plus our guide) and we were warmly welcomed by Anja who lavished us generally with a good selection of wines accompanied by delicious homemade food. A very personable experience. No pressure to buy wine if you don’t want to. Highly recommend.

We could not have been made more welcome when we dropped in for a tasting organised for us by Matej when we were staying at Majerija. Anja and Jerej shared their knowledge, gave generously of their time and wine despite the fact they knew we were on a cheap flight from Uk and could not take wine home, which was annoying as quality and price were better than most we get in France! The Zelen grape is so fresh and makes a wine that is so different from the much heavier wines we are so often served in n Europe. If you can come with a car, do and take some wonderful well priced wine home!

Anja was an absolute delight!!! The new tasting room was breathtaking, the food mouth watering, and the wines unique and bold. This was the 4th winery in 3 countries on a week long trip through Europe. This final stop was by no means a disappointment the atmosphere was fantastic. This was a very distinctive tasting with a local flair like none we have ever had. The added homemade foods and surprise pour at the end was incredible!!!! I hope we can find a way to get a few cases home so we can continue to enjoy the amazing flavors.

We have tasted all the wines directly produced by Zorz family, with the expert and friendly Anja.
Every wine tasting session has gone together with very good local food in a calm and relaxing environment.
Personally I have found really particular and interesting the two local wines, namely 'Pinela' and 'Zelen'. Prices are fair.

This is a small family winery, welcoming with a range of different wines that are very generously offered for wine tasting.
We were greeted by a member of the family, lovely girl very knowledgeable and passionate about the family and their wines.
While there were only 3 of us on a private tour at no time did we feel hurried. We were shown the cellars and offered fabulous cured meat, cheese and home baked bread with olive oil while we enjoyed the wine tasting.
Everyone's palate is different and while some wines will suit some and not others I would very much encourage a visit to this winery. There is an honesty, a passion, a way of life that comes with family traditions in wine making. Go! Enjoy!

The guide took us to two wineries and this was the first and best. Myself and girlfriend, a solo traveler and a group of repeat girls from Slovenia, (third or fourth time for them). We tried at least 6 wines plus their cognac (I lost count). Lots of food to go with it. The hostess was super friendly and told us all about the history of the place as well as the wine and local food. My favorite was an “orange wine” that was new from this year and an experiment. We bought 3 bottles from them.
The vineyard has lots of history and this family has been there for many generations. My first experience of wine tasting at a vineyard and I was not disappointed. You can contact them directly to visit and experience everything even without going through a guide. They would be very happy to welcome you in. They also have a hotel there in case it’s too hard to leave 🤪
