A different kind of cave.

I've toured caves in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, but this one was different. Unlike the other caves I've been in, this one is a fracture cave, formed... read more

I've toured caves in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, but this one was different. Unlike the other caves I've been in, this one is a fracture cave, formed when a gypsum layer below was washed away, causing the ground to fracture (the guide showed us a spot where the floor was shaped very much like the roof of the... We really enjoyed our tour deep into the earth. A family owned and operated business for around 70 or so years - they have the tour down pat. The caves were interesting and a little freaky when you got to thinking about the tons of rock over you! An mostly easy climb but make sure you are in shoes that... More

The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the cave and the surrounding area. I felt like an explorer crawling around in the cave, getting my hands dirty, seeing names on the wall from the 1800s. The gift shop has a lot of very interesting items, including soil you can dump into a gem panning stream out front.... More

A group of us (including an Oberlin College geology professor) visited the caverns recently. Although several of us had grown up in Ohio, it was a first-time visit for all of us. Very interesting! The $14 entry fee was higher than I expected, but overall it was worth it. Our guide was knowledgeable without being boring and we really got... More

I have been to caverns before but this one is unlike any I have been too. It is basically a crack in the earth and not for those that are claustrophobic! Make sure you have good sturdy shoes because there is a lot of climbing on natural rocks and it can be damp depending on the weather. I thought it... More

The kids enjoyed it. Tour guide Josh was very knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of good information. Challenging enough to be interesting but doable for my kids under 10.

We stopped to take the kids to Seneca Caverns. We did the panning for gems gag and then took the tour. It was a great adventure. The cave is very different from any we have toured in the past. This is a must see!

They claim to be the only fracture cave in North America open to the public, but honestly I didn't find the tour or the cave all that impressive. Sam, our tour guide was a bit disorganized, and by the end of the trip, I found I knew more about her than the cave.. i.e. she has a second job at... More

Really liked this place. Not as showy as other caverns but the guide was excellent and there are lots of cool stories. It was really cool to see writing 100 years old down in the caverns. For the price I felt that we got our money's worth and friendly service. I would not recommend this for any children under say... More

This is a cave tour. Wear closed toe shoes, not flip flops. Bring a sweatshirt, don't wear a little sundress. Common sense! The tour is a little over an hour and takes you through the cave levels. I am not a small space person but I did not have any issues. The rooms you stop in are spacious and there... More
