Came here with my sister in law and 4 children (8, 4, 2, and 2 months) and we all had a good time. We were impressed how close we could get to the animals, the free-range goats, and types of animals they had. The kids enjoyed feeding the ducks and the animals in the petting zoo. Even though we brought... More

Had a wonderful time there with our granddaughters. They live in Wahpeton and have been to the zoo many times. They acted as our tour guides. Wonderful day for all of us.

For being in a small community, this zoo has a lot of exotic animals. The petting zoo is always a fun, interactive place to bring the kids. They do "training" sessions throughout the day where you can watch the zookeepers working with the animals for enrichment and checking for general health concerns, and at the end of each session, they... Best word impressive. Yes it is a smaller zoo,but what it may lose in size, more then makes up for with quality. Animals looked well cared for. At the time I was there. A member of the zoo staff was caring for a baby kangaroo (named Barkly). Its mother had died. During the day Barkly would be at the zoo.... More

Chahinkapa Zoo is a unique zoo housing many different animals fun for both young and young at heart. Be sure to check out the monkeys, bears, lions, and otters. Sit on a bench and enjoy watching the animals play. If traveling to or through Wahpeton be sure to visit. You won't be disappointed!

One of the gems of our small town is the Chahikapa Park Zoo in Wahpeton ND. It is the smallest exotic animal zoo in America and is home to some surprising animals! Like an Orangitang, Snow Lepards, Siberian Tigers, Gibbon Apes and much more! The animals are extremely well cared for and the facility is clean and fun. There is... More

I have been bringing kids to this zoo for years. Each time we go there is something new. My favorite time to visit is early in the summer, but with schedules fall was the time to make the hour trip from Fargo to visit. Staff is always very knowledgable and willing to help. The petting zoo is our favorite followed... More

Great experience, definitely more than I expected. The kids LOVED it, and had fun with how close they could get to most of the animals.

This is a terrific zoo for such a small town. They have many great exhibits that can't even be found at the Red River Zoo in Fargo. Nice way to spend an afternoon.
