Firstly, the golf shop showed us Victorians how welcoming one should be when travelling interstate. The hospitality was first class even if my golf was not where it should have been.

Secondly, the course was in great nick and presented a challenge to golfers of all levels.

Finally, the nineteenth hole was welcoming and intimate - a different vibe from some of those stuffy clubs elsewhere!

New South Wales you have set a benchmark. We played the day of the Waugh Foundation and I can see why. An icon of Australian golf!

I had the privilege of playing New South Wales GC, and what a privilege it was!

Consistently rated top 10 in Australia and in the world, it has to be played to believe.

Very few courses can boast the rugged East Coast rocklands with the serene backdrop of Sydney Harbour as one drives and putts this links-style course.

Very expensive for Australian standards, worth every penny and more.😊

We decide to visit Australia to play golf on famous golf courses, we started in Melbourne area, which was fantastic and then moved to Sydney. Our travel agency booked for us in January 2017 a round on this golf course, we paid AUD 450 each, we understood it would have been absolutely worth..... too bad when we arrived this were the condition of the Golf course, fairway where STRAW not winter grass, New South Wales suffered a very dry season, really unusual for the area. Very few people were booked.... we travel all around the world to play golf since we are really Golf addicted, but we are used that when a golf course is in a bad condition ( never happened to us to play on straw) at least a reduction should be applied. This did not happened here we complain through the Australian Golf tour operator and the golf course said “green and tee shots were in perfect conditions therefore your client were able to play, fairway have winter grass conditions”. You can see from the picture the ball placed on tee shot hole 18......”in perfect conditions” and some shots of “winter grass” fairways, they really looked and felt like wheat field!
It has been the worse experience in Golf, even in the pro shop and caddy master weren’t that friendly probably they were afraid to receive complains?
We live in Switzerland and we know what winter grass is, and also northern Italy experienced an unusual dryness last summer, but an HONEST club would never ask AUD 450 to play in such awful conditions. Not to mention that one hole was closed and it has been replaced with a spare par 3 of 70 meters.....

Definitely it was not worth! We do not recommend a visit, you might booked, pay and only after find out a bad surprise.

The day after "the hottest day on record in Sydney" might not be the best day to book a round of golf.... but NSW GC completely surprised us. A links style course on the water in Botany Bay is the ideal way to spend a hot day. You can request a golf buggie or take a push cart. There is some shade on the course, but honestly, the wind keeps things cool.
Several holes are the most beautiful I have played outside of Hawaii. Challenging when the wind blows, yet forgiving to bad shots. I absolutely enjoyed this round!
Their pro shop has a nice selection of apparel and accessories.
I rented my clubs and got a slightly above average / old set, so if you're picky, bring your own.
The course is hilly, so you have to be careful not to hit into the group ahead of you. (Which I did, but they game-fully accepted my apology)
On the course we met interesting people. I'm told this course attracts the most "Aussie bloke" golfers, so you are spared any private club pretentiousness on a world class course.
This is a World Top 50 course. Enjoy!

Every hole is visually exciting and an absolute joy, if not difficult.
The blind tee shot on the 5th is like stepping into Aladdin's Cave, when you reach to top of the hill a look down to the green and the entrance to Botany Bay - magic. Then the drive over the ocean to the 6th green gets the heart racing. Difficult to get to play the course and expensive but worth it. Enjoy!

Really enjoyed the round. From the very warm welcome & the gift pack to the name announced on the 1st tee, you know you are not on your average golf course.

Course was in great condition. The greens were the fastest that I have putted on in years. Lots of elevated & bowl like greens. You quickly learn not to be too cute with chips & pitches and not to be too aggressive on putts. I had 2 putts that I thought were good roll off the green and finish 15yds from the front of the green. Highlights are the 5th & amazing par 3 6th for the stunning views. Stretch from 13-16 is a serious test of ball striking. Great value for $200. A very good course

I can't better Kidnme's review in 2012 for a full exposition on this course so I won't. But I finished up dispirited after my day here. There are more blind shots than I care for so without a caddy it was a nightmare. So many "good" balls could not be found when I clambered over the crest. Dramatic seascapes, yes, and strategic holes, yes, but it's too hard too often to know where to hit. My marriage almost fell apart and I swore I wouldn't return, but who knows? Golf Pro exceptionally helpful; facilities first class as you would expect. Take an extra layer - the sea breezes can rip through the body.

What a beautiful golf course. Perfectly manicured, beautiful coastline. I would go back any day and hope there was no wind.

Actually in a perfect weather with almost no wind, this golf course might be easy to play, but with the strong, gusty winds we had - and I was told, most time they have such windy conditions! - it becomes a real challenge!
Don't be angry with yourself or the course, if the ball suddenly sails away with the wind...
But a strong experience and a lot of fun!
