This tour and birthplace of Lawrence Welk lacks the glitz and glamor of his award winning show but it s such a pretty peaceful place and such interesting historical information and living history of the Germans from Russia in North Dakota. The people who run...More

According to the website the site should have been open. Apparently need to call up and set a reservation for a tour. The location is beautiful. A small home with outbuildings all overlooking a small lake. Would have loved to have some signs about his...More

We were unable to go into the buildings because they close at 5:00 pm, so we just toured the outside area and it has beautiful scenery. There was a picnic table, I wish we would have brought a little picnic and enjoyed the peacefulness of...More

We had business in North Dakota in November and since we couldn't follow the tourist trail, we did our own scouting. We saw a big sign near Strasburg that said "Lawrence Welk's Birthplace. Now I admit I loved watching the Lawrence Welk Show, so I...More

This farm probably was not kept as it was when Lawrence was a boy. The buildings are there , if moved around. It is a productive farm today. The buildings look in great shape. There was a port-a-potty open for use. It would be a...More

It has been too modernized. Lawrence would not recognize it!! It does have an old windmill that is interesting; the barn has been moved in; the buildings are paint a nice clean white. I can't think it looked like that when he was born.
