Terrible customer service
May 2021 • Family
We arranged to stay in the cellar house over new years eve this coming year. We had arranged to stay from the 30th Dec until 2nd January. The owner had agreed to these dates through stayz.com. Then the owner 'realised' after agreeing to dates that she had guests checking out on the 31st so we couldn't check in until then. Due to the change my family along with the three other families could only commit to two nights due to work. I emailed to let her know this and after 24 hours without a response she contacted me to say she decided to give the house to someone else because they could stay 3 nights. I messaged back to inform her it is un professional to say yes to someone then change your mind. First in first served. This was going to be my family and the three other families we were travelling with first time away since all our children were born in 2020. Very disappointing service. Clearly money is priority not customer service.

Horribly horrible ..go elsewhere
Aug 2019 • Couples
partner bought a suprise gift from a holiday auction site for 2 nights at Allusion Wines cottage accomadation.
We paid $50 extra on top of fair price paid.. meeting the owner Mark for a Saturday night surcharge ,he was very friendly and advised if we needed anything he was just down the road.. previous people had cold showers instead of calling him to replace a gas bottle...
So we packed the kit for a romantic getaway knowing there was a spa and bbq we bought bubble bath champagne etc and bbq supplies of for cooked breakfast n bbq dinners.
The accomadation is simple 2 bedroom with spa kitchenette lounge with tv with a broken DVD player and broken stereo .. luckily we had Spotify! A quick dust would be great too to freshen the place..The cottage set in bushland was peaceful and lovely views.
The neighbours through the connector door was not as peaceful...would be good for large families
The bbq was filthy fat from previous people and rusty,we did not have supplies to clean it..salt paper towels etc.. so decided to eat cheese &crackers that night...such a disappointment people can't clean before guests arrive. An old overused sponge to clean a rangehood that's a light only no exhaust
Then on running the spa the next morning it ..we knew the water was rain water..but did not expect what we got it was putrid.. the brownest water ,dirtier than the Murray river..needing to wash we packed and just headed home with all our purpose bought supplies.
I emailed the owner on the way home so he was notified the property was vacant.. Reply was a "sorry and thanks for bringing that to our attention " and went on today about filters and it was safe to drink...maybe but we didn't want to bathe in it let alone drink !!
I think a refund should of been offered for the room due to a availability of clean water for drinking or bathing.

Worth a visit

The views are wonderful and the wine is lovely. Can't ask for much more than that! A great family run business that is very welcoming. The platter was fairly basic for the price however this didn't stop us enjoying our visit.

Nice clean cabin
Dec 2017 • Family
A nice clean cabin several km out of Yankalilla.

I was worried that I would disturb the people in the adjoining cabin as I stayed with my one year baby.

The toaster needs replacing - as the lever to push the toast down was broken. There was also no normal drinking glasses. There was only wine glasses.

Otherwise it was a very nice clean cabin with comfortable beds.

Hi Emma, Thanks for your feedback. We have replaced the toaster and put some normal glasses in the cottage. Glad you found the beds comfortable. Cheers, Mark

Worth the visit

What a lovely place to visit for tastings. Has a wonderful view and outside area. Grabbed a bottle of their delicious sparkling and lingered for a couple of hours.
The owners are great hosts and very interesting to talk to.
Had a peek at the B&Bs and definitely on the to do list.

Set in a peaceful location atop a hill overlooking bushland.

“We found the accommodation utterly relaxing and peaceful.”

Large bathroom and well appointed kitchen was good. Serene bush surroundings and yet conveniently close to local town Yankalilla. Lovely sun filled porch to sit on and watch the bird life. Mark's bush track around the property was delightful to walk on.

QUIET OUT OF THE WAY AND RELAXING
Jun 2017 • Couples
We stayed in Cabernet Cottage for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, relaxing atmosphere, whilst only being about 10 minutes from Yankalilla.
The cottage was very clean, and well presented with everything you need.
Plentiful supplies provided us with lovely breakfasts each morning.
The walks around the property were lovely.
The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Plenty of extra blankets if required. The small gas heater warmed the cottage sufficiently.
The local guides provided us with information on great walks and sightseeing in the area.
One highlight was the courtesy bus from the hotel which picked us up and took us in for dinner and then back again. Thanks Russ for great service.

Friendly tastings
Dec 2016 • Couples
A local cellar door to where we were staying in Yankalilla that was open on Boxing Day. A great find after a gravel road and long driveway. Friendly owners and we walked away with 6 bottles, both red and white at very reasonable prices. Would love to return to try their food or one of the events that were happening in the following days, great views down the valley.
