Too windy for us today
Apr 2021 • Couples
We drove to the are and there are dirt roads that are super corrugated and should not be attempted without four wheel drive vehicle. We got out and thought about our picnic but kept going to September beach. If you love camping and hiking this would be nice. Rugged.

Well Worth the Hike
Dec 2020 • Family
Situated in the Lincoln National Park (with $12 entrance fee per car), this hike to the Matthew Flinders monument is well worth the effort. With good access by footpath, the views from the top are stunning.

You do it because it is there!
Oct 2020
There are many walking trails in Lincoln National Park, but this one appears to be the most popular. It is a bit over 2 km return, and took me a good hour. It starts off with moderate grades, but gets steeper towards the summit. The track is wide and smooth, with well made stone steps towards the top. There are a couple of seats, and good information signs about Matthew Flinders who climbed up here to spy out the lay of the land in search of water. There is an obelisk at the top in memory of the explorer. The surrounding bush is not very interesting, although there are small flowers here and there. The views at the top are panoramic and distant. Not the most rewarding hike I have done, but I guess you do it because it is there! There are toilets, a picnic ground, shelters and plenty of parking space at the foot of the hill.

Great walk
Sep 2019
The walk up to the Flinders monument on top of Stamford Hill is steep but not too challenging. The path is in very good condition and we saw young children to older walkers enjoying the walk. Be prepared for the march flies that follow you closely and bite if they get the chance.

Good short walk
Oct 2017 • Friends
Good little short walk through beautiful scrub with a decent view at the top. Suitable for families. There's a little picnic area and toilets at the bottom too
