It was one of the best wine tasting experiences of our week long wine tasting holiday in SA. Very friendly and knowledgeable cellar door staff guided our tasting experience. They make seriously good wines. The most affordable Shiraz is full of flavours.

We stopped here on a group booked tour for wine tasting under the glass roof section between buildings. While it was lovely, and probably the fault of being in a group, our tasting experience lacked the personal touch and information of smaller visits. Really like the port, but can’t say I was personally a fan of their reds however others certainly were.

Located ten minutes north of McLaren Vale in a lovely, rural setting Chapel Hill has lovely grounds and wonderful buildings, including the Chapel.
Not so busy, it offers a relaxing wine tasting with knowledgeable, personable hosts. The wines were good - we bought.
An excellent overall experience.

The tasting was informative, well-managed and reasonably generous. But how can you buy their wines without tasting, and why is the tasting fee not waived after buying $140 of wine? This was a first and left a very sour taste - not the lasting taste we wanted.

Went to do the broad church tasting with husband and other family. I’m currently pregnant but the tasting was booked and paid for. The staff walked past me after serving the whole table except me, never said a word to ask me if I wanted the wine or if I wanted a soft drink. When they came round for the next tasting I asked them to pour the wine for me (3 times I asked) and they looked at me, said I wasn’t drinking and walked away without serving me.
Wine tasting can be done by sip and spit. I’m absolutely disgusted by the way I was treated and the judgement from the staff just from looking at me.
I left having paid for a service I was not given and feeing completely excluded from the activity and not of my choice. A very poor experience.

Felt like I was drinking with friends. Reasonable tasting fee (although in general if you purchase anywhere this should be waived).
Lovely knowledgeable friendly staff. Not too pushy.
I would rate their Shiraz better than Penfolds.
We were even supplied a small taste of Shiraz grapes off the vine - so yummy and added a spark.

Spent some time in the historic Chapel sampling a vast array of Chapel Hill wines. The crew including Angela impressed us with the vast knowledge of naturally the wines and also the local area. They had. a standard list to run through but also we showing a few specials which was enlightening. We left with a couple of bottles but there was no pressure to buy.

A beautiful and well maintained winery but the wines open for tasting were not, in my view, the wines that they are not really known for.
There were five staff that I saw in the cellar door but none of them wanted to serve us, preferring instead to stand around their computers. Our brief tasting took well over an hour and our group left wondering why we bothered.
The day was only saved by a last minute offering of a wine that had been intended for export to China and was now being offered locally at a good price.

The tasting. I sat back because I had to drive, but my ‘comrade’ enjoyed at least 12 ‘sips’. She reckoned the various wines were very good, although a couple did not rank too well - BUT - our host Gary or as he said ‘call me Gazza’ was fantastic and is no doubt a great asset for CHW. We enjoyed his company and repartee immensely. So a few bottles were purchased for later consumption and when I don’t have to drive.

Spent an impromptu hour wine tasting and buying with a friend. The staff was knowledgeable with a good sense of humour. Very informative about the wines too.
At the back of the winery is a nice little walk trail, it took us 40minutes and stops at a stunning lookout overlooking the gorge. It was a nice little morning outing.
