About
The idea to build the d'Arenberg Cube came to Chief Winemaker Chester Osborn in 2003. Inspired by the complexities and puzzles of winemaking, Chester created the idea of a cube-shaped building. Each of the five levels have been carefully designed to entice and excite the senses, including features such as a wine inhalation room, a virtual fermenter, a 360degree video room, and many other tactile experiences. Visitors are encouraged to explore the Alternate Realities Museum, located on the ground floor, and view the many art installations on display. The tasting room is located on the top floor, and is open 7 days a week 10am - 5pm.

    Don't miss it!
What an amazing place! We were looking for wineries and found this art gallery with wine :) What a great experience. We were made to feel very welcome at the wine tasting, we are not big wine buffs but do enjoy our red wine. The cube is such a different experience with a surprise around every corner. The grounds are beautiful as well so the entire visit was fantastic!
Thank you for your great review 497susanb! I'm glad you enjoyed the wine tasting, d'Arenberg is deadly serious about winemaking until it's in the bottle...then it's all about fun!

You must see the Cube !!
My partner and I visited the d'Arenberg Cube last week and were so pleased we did so. This place is a "must see" when visiting McLaren Vale in South Australia. Some of the most outlandish and interesting art that you could see is on display. We paid $20 to enter and if you're a Salvator Dali & Charles Billich fan the extra $10 to see many of their original artworks is well worth the cost. Some of the artwork is "way out" so be prepared for different things.. Staff are very pleasant & helpful as well....Oh! the coffee is good too.
Thank you for a wonderful review! We're glad you enjoyed exploring all that the d'Arenberg Cube has to offer. We feel very honoured to be able to host the Salvador Dali and Charles Billich exhibition.

    Must do when visiting Adelaide
Situated in McLaren Vale, the Cube is a must see. It is $20 to enter and this includes a wine tasting of at least 6 of the D’Arenberg range. The staff are helpful and informative even if a bit slow with the tasting, but we weren’t in a hurry so that didn’t matter. There is some amazing pieces of artwork and very wacky and weird over all the floors. We caught the lift up and went down the stairs to explore more. There are 2 restaurants on site, one being Asian. There is a gallery on one floor which you have to pay an extra $10 that is dedicated to Dali and other surrealist artists. To be honest, I’m a huge Dali fan and was expecting a lot more so was disappointed. There is a really cool video on the ground floor that has video’s on the names of all the wines. You have to check out the bathrooms the are fabulous! Outside there is a small gallery the Archers Arcadia which has interactive sideshow pieces. D’Arenberg is definitely worth visiting.
Thank you for your review CasandraTP. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the Salvador Dali exhibition, it is the largest one outside of Europe and features all limited edition lithographs and sculptures from the Dali museum in Paris. I am glad to hear you had the time to enjoy exploring all that the d'Arenberg Cube has to offer. There certainly is no shortage of quirky art installations through out the d'Arenberg Cube, did you know that they all relate to back wine?

A once in a lifetime experience at d'Arenberg Cube
Our visit to d'Arenberg was a highlight of our 6 week South Australian car trip. We loved the quirkiness of the building and everything in and around it. We could have spent a whole day exploring the contemporary art museum, the Dali Exhibition, and all there was to see and experience. Our admission price included a standard wine tasting which was generous and the person looking after us was knowledge and professional but extremely friendly. This experience was exceptional value for money and the wines were beautiful.
Hi BeachsideQ, Thank you very much for your review. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit with us at d'Arenberg. What a compliment to hear it was the highlight of your trip! We hope you are able to come back on your next visit to South Australia and spend some more time exploring, our art pieces are always evolving and changing so there will be some new things to see on your return. Kind regards, Hannah

Great Building & Dali Art to Ponder (and Buy!)
A Quirky Building with some exceptional art and in particular, the Dali displays. Whether you are a fan of Dali or not, this is a place to visit for no other reason than to enjoy the quirky design of the building and the art it contains. Aimed at the wine lovers but some great artistic interpretations inside are delightful.
Thank you for your review! It certainly is a quirky building, did you know that the majority of the art pieces relate back to our wines? We hope to welcome you back soon.

Nice experience for a large winery
We had quite a pleasant visit to the The Cube. Relatively inexpensive. We had a general tasting & added the Dali exhibition since we previously visited the Dali museum in Figueroa. Even though it was a Sat just before lunch with a busy tasting room, they made sure they got us some space to prop. We felt relatively un - rushed. The lady who served us waited till we had time to taste before moving on to the next wine on the list. Even added a couple of wines not on the list at the end. Frankly, I thought we might be rushed at a large winery,so pleasantly surprised. Ordered a couple of bottles and moved on to the Dali exhibition. We were puzzled that we could have a Dali exhibition here in McLaren Vale. It was soon explained that Dali arranged for some of his works to be replicated with limited qty of each. So all the items in there were labelled as such. Learn something new everyday, right? Overall, quite a nice experience.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are glad you enjoyed the experience here at the d'Arenberg Cube. We are very fortunate to host the Salvador Dali limited edition sculptural collection, the largest one in the Southern Hemisphere.

    Pricey
We were excited to see the Dali exhibition and were prepared to do long drive from the city to get there. The cube is somewhat out of place and assume a folly of the rich owners. Entry fee was steep considering who does wine tasting first thing in the morning and surcharge to actually see the Dali section was frustrating. Worth seeing the exhibit as a one off but not a repeat visit.
Hi rob27898, Thank you very much for visiting d'Arenberg. We are glad you enjoyed the Dali exhibition, we certainly are honoured to be able to showcase this world-class exhibit at our Cellar Door. Kind regards, Hannah

Spectacular cellar door inside an art house cube building!
Definitely the most flamboyant cellar door we've ever been to with an art house cube building which includes the Salvador Dali exhibition. Over 70 wines made with very clever names which adds to the appeal. The premium reds were excellent and there is a good back vintage selection for purchase to enhance the home vertical tasting experience. The toilets are fascinating but a bit confusing to get into. Definitely worth a visit for the spectacle, if bit the wine.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We certainly have plenty of wine to choose from and hope everyone can find a wine they like when they are here. Did you know that all the artwork on the ground floor has QR codes which explains how each piece relates back to our wines?

    Fabulous
d'Arenberg and its Cube not only lived up to, but exceeded my expectations. Nothing else in this country comes close for a unique winery experience. Surprises at every turn. It helps to like Salvador Dali and Chester Osborn's eccentricities of course!
Thank you for your wonderful review! I'm glad you thoroughly enjoyed your time exploring the d'Arenberg Cube and the Salvador Dali exhibition, it certainly is a unique experience. We hope to welcome you back next time you are in the area.

Looking for something different - go here.
Differently worth a visit if your in McLaren Vale. Lots to look at. We dined at Singapore Circus with friends and enjoyed the banquet. Waiter explained the food very well to us and the wine. Did the wine tasting experience after lunch.
Thank you for your review, Lynith. We are glad you enjoyed your experience at d'Arenberg and that the staff at Singapore Circus took good care of you. We hope to welcome you back soon!

We went to McLaren Vale on an extreme weather day, so a lot of wineries were shut. D'Arenberg, however, were open, so we opted to go there for a bit of a look. Now we live on the Mornington Peninsula, so we know that a lot of places now charge for tastings, but (and here's the big but) we wouldn't have expected to be charged an entry fee. $15 per person, from memory, plus a further $10 if you wanted to look at the Dali exhibition. We asked someone who had already been through the Dali section and they told us not to waste our money, so I'm glad we didn't. The cube I'm sure would have cost a lot to build and, like I say, we understand being charged for a tasting, but really you were subsidising the cost of the building whether you liked it or not. The wine was good, there were plenty of staff in the tasting area and the views were lovely, but it still left a bit of a bad taste in our mouths to be charged so much for the privilege. Not to mention the fact that there was quite a queue of people to enter. Anyhow, it was an experience. The toilets are pretty incredible, but again, I wouldn't pay $15 to go there. It's a bit extreme.

Dear Rhonda, Thank you for your feedback about your visit to d'Arenberg. We appreciate your comments regarding the entry fee into the Cube. This entry fee is inclusive of a wine tasting in our level four tasting room, with access to some of our Premium wines. $5 of the fee is then redeemable on the purchase of two bottles or more per person. We do believe that we offer a value for money experience as the Cube is so much more than purely a Cellar Door and our wines are available for purchase from $16 per bottle. We hope that you enjoyed your visit and will forward your feedback on.

We attended a pre-booked tasting and Dali exhibition for 8 people on Saturday. We had 2 international guests with us.

We felt like cattle, rushed through the tastings in 15-20 minutes.

The distracted staff member gave next to no background about the wines and their clinical nature created zero atmosphere.

The low point after the tiny tastings was when we left our prebooked table after 15mins to step out to the balcony to see the view. Some of us left our jackets and bags on the table. We came back to the table to find it cleared and reset with another group already being processed through the cattle yard for their turn at the trough.

I was so embarrassed to have taken my visitors to this winery.

If you enjoyed dining at the incomparable d'Arrys Veranduh restaurant and stepping next door to taste and select a premium wine forget it. If you enjoyed the free wine tasting of Australia's largest array of wines. Those days are over. Now there is the Cube. You pay for admission. The decor is whack. Servers in the tasting room are impersonable and you'll likely know far more about wine than them. If you want to taste the good stuff, you pay even more and then the tasting is structured; you don't get to pick. Can you spell 'how do you bugger up a fun experience, Chester?"

We only visited the outside as we were having lunch elsewhere, it does get booked out very quickly at weekends. There were a few large, original Dali bronze sculptures outside and would definitely book a lunch on the top terrace next time we visit. There was also a free art exhibition outside and lovely views from the gardens.

We did the General Admission to the Cube ($15, which includes wine tasting) as well as the Salvador Dali exhibition. Brilliant!
The Dali exhibition was well worth $20 each and we were there for about 45 minutes.
Our tasting was hosted by Mary who was friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. And the wines? Outstanding!
The Cube is an experience itself and the views are fabulous.
Highly recommended.

We tee’d this up with a booking at the restaurant. The wine tasting and Dali art exhibition were free if you ate at the restaurant. Quirky building with lots to see and do in a small space. Polite and friendly staff. Great wine tasting experience. Well worth a visit.

A peice of art in it's self, winery is amazing. Paid for the art exhibition and wine tasting, brilliant. To experience everything including art exhibition that is a must, $50 for two people & was well worth it. Two dining options & purchased a few bottles before departing.
This is a must on your list of wineries to visit.

Visited today and would like to give you some advice.
We were drop-ins that wanted to visit the Dali exhibition.

Loved the Dali, enjoyed the wine tasting but..

When you arrive, can I suggest that you restructure the price so its $5 entry, $10 wine tasting OR a $10 cafe voucher, rather than make it a flat $15 including wine tasting.

There were just two of us, my wife was driving and it made no sense for her to pay for a wine tasting.

Its almost encouraging people to drink and drive. In this case wine isn't life, its the opposite.

We want you to be successful, please consider it.

This is the most entertaining cellar door I have ever visited. The Cube is an extraordinary building, full of eclectic artworks, the vision of the owner.
Café is great value, tasty food with good portions and the winetasting is included as part of the admission. You can choose your wine flight, which could includes the flagship wines.

My friends and I went to d'Arenberg for a tasting. We had a wonderful time at the winery where Cyril did out wine tasting. We had the most amazing experience with him, his years of experience shine as he talked through each wine discussing its exquisite flavours. We could not recommend the experience with him more. He was friendly, had excellent knowledge of the history of d'Arenberg and really catered to our specific tastes! Thank you so much to Cyril for providing us with a great experience.
