Whilst in Hahndorf , we wanted to check out the factory outlet/sales. A smallish store with a great variety of jams/pickles, but not many bargains to be found like you would expect from a factory outlet. If in town again would I go back? Proberbly...More

The jams are sensational and sold internationally. If you are lucky enough to but or come across these jams on an in flight meal, itโ€™s good to know where it came from!

Hi, We are a team of dragon boaters, 10 of us from the Breast Cancer Foundation Singapore (BCF Paddlers in the Pink) coming to Adelaide's West Lakes Regatta Course for a dragon boat race, The Club Crew World Championship 2016 from 29 Mar to 3rd April. We are planning to tour Adelaide after the Race. We will probably be driving over on the 5 April to your Strawberry Farm for a picking and tasting as it is highly recommended. However there are a few questions I hope you could help. 1.How far is it from Barossa Valley ? We will be spending the night at Barossa on the 4 April. 2. Do we have to make a reservation ahead for 10 of us for picking? 3. Is morning picking better then afternoon? 4. Do you have a nice restaurant in your Farm where we can have a lovely lunch or afternoon tea? 5. How much time to we need in the Farm for our planning purposes as we would like to spend some time touring and shopping at Hahndorf Village and finally catching the ferry to Kangaroo Island at 6pm. Appreciate your replies soonest possible. Thank you very much. Cheers, Jean Leng

We were visitors from Victoria, but can confirm the other replies. Unless you are being driven by a local driver, I would allow 2 hours from the Barossa to Hahndorf. Roads are easy to follow. I can agree that morning visit... More

Two perfect days in Adelaide Hills (10 Replies)
Hi, We're staying near Oakbank for two days in December, and I have a rough plan in mind. We'll be self-driving with a toddler, so would like to fix the itinerary in advance as much as possible. Day 1: Closer to Oakbank. Plan to start with the Beerenberg Strawberry Farm in the morning, go on to Mount Lofty, Mt. Gorge wildlife park and the Toy Factory at Gumeracha. Would welcome suggestions on places to break for lunch and tea. Day 2: Barossa tour starting with Seppeltsfield winery and then...More

Well the 3 lunch venues couldn't be more different if you tried. Appellation is an upmarket restaurant attached to an upmarket hotel, Lou Miranda is more casual at a winery and Maggie Beer is like a supermarket where you can choose your food items and have a picnic. personally I think its very over priced and over rated - but that's just me. You need to decide which style will suit you best. In Hahndorf we like either The Haus or Maximillians.

Thinking of doing the Hanhndorf Tour but can't decide with which tour company to do it with. I'm attracted by Premier Stateliner's inclusion of Beerenberg Strawberry Farm yet am also interested in seeing one of those German Ale Houses included in Adelaide Sightseeing Packages. I can't tell you about these tours, but I did go to the strawberry farm and it was extremely fun. Obviously you would want to check that the strawberries were ripe for picking, although I'm sure it would be nice to go to the shop at any time of year. I enjoyed picking the strawberries when I was there in October. The strawberries were really enormous and sweet.

Just got back from a relaxing and refreshing holiday in Adelaide and Melbourne. Timing of the holiday couldnโ€™t be better as my hometown Petaling Jaya, Malaysia was shrouded in an unhealthy haze. Below is a summary of my trip : Day 1 (KL to Adelaide) Flew AirAsia X from Kuala Lumpur to Adelaide - booked the tickets during the launch of this new route last year. All in fare for two was RM1,585.00 including quiet zone seats, 20 kg baggage and meals. Flight departed and arrived on time. We...More
