About
Beerenberg Farm is a "must visit" for all food lovers visiting the Adelaide Hills. One of Australia's oldest family-owned jam, condiment and sauce producers, it is now run by the sixth generation of the Paech family on their Hahndorf farm. Open all year round, 7 days a week (except Christmas Day), the farm shop is open 9am to 5pm. Enjoy a leisurely browse through the complete collection of farm-made products in the delightful farm shop. During strawberry season (November to April), bring the family and pick your own strawberries from 9am to last field entry at 4.15pm. Patch entry is $5.00 per adult (13 years and under are free). Strawberries you pick are then weighed and are $10.95/kg.

We visited while visiting South Australia because we buy online from them. Pleased with our purchases, but considering the ‘goldmine’ they are sitting on with the cafe, (full of patrons at 10:30 on a Sunday), strawberry pickers and others tasting and browsing, it would have been nice if the cashier had managed a smile. Very disappointing…..

I understand businesses have to make money, but $9.50 for One Scone with Jam and Cream is a bit excessive. This is my only complaint about Beerenberg. The product is excellent, the service is great but the prices in the restaurant are scary.
Thanks for your feedback! We make all of our delicious food in house and do our best to support local business when sourcing ingredients

What a great place for any age group! You pay a fee of $5 an adult to go down to paddocks and pick your own strawberries, once you come up they weigh them and you pay. The strawberries are so sweet and delicious! The shop is full of amazing products to choose from and are all reasonably priced. There is also a cafe.
Thanks for the review! We're so pleased you had a lovely time

Absolutely wonderful high tea We experienced the high tea and it was wonderful. The quality of the food was first class, with delicious flavours and locally sourced ingredients. The staff were so lovely and the chef came out and spoke to every table, which was a nice touch. There was a nice balance between sweet and savoury and you can take home any leftovers. We were so full we didn’t need dinner. We have experienced high tea at the Ritz in London, and Beerenberg was on a par,and in some cases better. My only small and minor suggestion for improvement would be having bottles of table water available to top up yourself, rather than keep asking the lovely staff for top ups. It would also be nice to have available more than one tea or coffee included in the price. Very minor points and didn’t detract from our afternoon. We will definitely be booking in again.
Thanks for the lovely review, we're so pleased to learn that we're on par with the Ritz in London - a huge compliment. I'll be sure to pass your feedback on to the team.

We did the pie making. David Bennett is english so we cooked pies like my granma used to make. Easy steps with extra flare. Ended with eating the glorious pie that you made with home made ice cream before you leave. Looking forward to the next one. If only we could have a yearly subscription in cooking lessons with David

I highly recommend the high tea at Beerenberg Farm. It is great value for money compared to other high teas. The savoury and sweet selections were all delicious, and it was a generous serving. We couldn’t eat it all as there was too much food, but the staff kindly offered takeaway containers so that we could take the rest home. Great service by friendly, welcoming staff!

My review is of the cafe/restaurant, not the Beerenberg products....and as with Heather G's review in July 2024, the scones were a real disappointment. They were exactly as she has described...a strange texture and crumbly, with very unusual cream/butter, but the jams were lovely. This is our second visit..the last being around 5 years back. We were driving through on a visit from WA on both occasions. On the first visit, the restaurant did not exist. We bought lots of lovely jam and chutney then and on this most recent visit. Back to the cafe/restaurant, sadly, not only were the scones a disappointment, so too the coffee...lukewarm and the wait for both scones and coffee was really unacceptable. Not sure what the issues were, as there were plenty of wait staff, who were standing around waiting for something to do. I have to say, I pitied the two tables of elderly visitors who sat down after us...I fear they may have resorted to eating their stick-on moustaches (a fun day out). Maybe it was just a bad day, but we don't get many shots at this :(
Thanks for your review. We're sorry that your recent experience at our Farm Cafe wasn't an enjoyable one! I've passed your feedback on to our visitor centre team for training and coaching purposes.

Beerenberg Farm has a very impressive and extensive product range such as jams, marmalades, sauces, marinades, relishes and chutneys. They allow you to taste the product before you it. You can eat there and they have a great selection of desserts for the children. I bought the Australian Caramelised Fig Jam.
Thanks for the lovely review. Sounds like you had a great time!

I recently attended a buffet lunch, and it was fantastic! The variety of dishes offered was impressive, with something to suit every taste. From fresh salads to flavorful mains and indulgent desserts, every option was well-prepared and delicious. The staff were attentive, ensuring everything was replenished and the service was smooth. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with quality food and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Café: tried the Beef and Burgundy Stockpot Pie which as per the pix, comes with sauce+salad and fries. All delicious and service was fast. Pot of Ginger+Lemongrass Tea = $24.90. Shop: while here it’s advisable to check out the Jams, etc. there are limited run and exclusive new flavour jams that are not available in retail stores.
Thanks for the lovely review! We hope to see you again soon

Been to the cafe multiple times before thoroughly enjoyed it. However yesterday was very busy only one person taking orders line up was over half an hour long. We ordered pot of tea and a coffee to enjoy before our meal. Waited another half hour or so just to receive it tea was so strong and nearly cold coffee was the same we left very disappointed. There was no organisation with the way meals and drinks were being bought out so terrible disappointed

Dropped into the Beerenberg shop to check out the range of goodies on offer. The decor of the store was relaxing and colourful with the products grouped and arranged to catch the eye. The best part of the store was having the full range of jams, preserves, pickles, cooking bases and multi-packs to make my selection from, something I have not seen before. Large sized punnets of fresh strawberries were also for sale; first and second grade quality. I can highly recommend the second grade strawberries which were actually tastier than most supermarket bought punnets. While I was pleased with my purchases I was a little disappointed to then see the same jams for sale at the same price in a small local supermarket close to our holiday accommodation in Adelaide; there was no discount for buying at the farm.

Totally loved my visit, from the strawberry picking to the history wall, to the cafe and the shop. Customer service was exceptional, the lady that looked after me with my entry & purchases was particularly helpful & friendly 😊
Happy to pay the patch $5 entry fee and the cost of the strawberries. Good value for the experience & fresh strawberries picked with my own hands, and even allowed to sample a few whilst picking! ( a good idea is to check the website for picking availability)
Delicious cafe items, the pies are home style & totally yum, it came with a leafy salad and the most tasty strawberry mayo. The scones are gorgeous and come with 4 dollops of Beerenberg jams in different flavours, and thankfully enough cream to down it all with. A fresh leaf pot of chai tea ended a perfect meal. Service was efficient given how very busy it was at lunchtime.
The shop offers many types of savoury recipe bases, which were new to me. The jams with lavender/violets in the ingredients are truly special. Had the most beautiful time there, they have the Beerenberg experience so right, and I can’t wait to go back! ❤️

Thank you so much Karen for your wonderful review, we truly appreciate it. So glad you were able to spend some time here, strawberry picking, enjoying our cafe and a bit of shopping. Our new winter menu with lots of yummy treats, plus our wood fireplace make our cafe a very cozy winter experience right now. Do come again!

So impressed with the site development and loved the clever decor and the imaginative cafe menu that has something for everyone - young and old, a little hungry or a lot hungry!!! Initially some of the dishes seemed slightly elevated in price but when you see the generosity of those servings and the lovely ingredients you realise why!
Everyone one in our six person group loved their chosen dishes (particularly the boys enjoying the great spice on the chicken burgers) and all actually had a hard time making decisions from lots of variety. Although no one ultimately chose one, we were really impressed by the idea of the range of pies/pasties containing the Beerenberg meal sauces - Sticky Asian Pork etc etc - very clever…..will have one next time for sure! The lemon meringue waffle was like a tower so bring a friend to help with that if you were down that sweet path!

Absolutely the most disgusting lunch ever!
Harsh I know but….. gourmet pasty tasteless and missing fillings, ham and cheese croissant microwaved despite wait staff telling us it wasn’t …. What was that ‘ping’ then?
The hand cut chips…. Where do I start? Soggy wedges of potato again barely warm. And to add insult to injury charged $14.00
We told the wait person and she said ‘sorry’ and nothing was microwaved…HA!
The place was 1/3 full so busy wasn’t an excuse, perhaps they need to have a look at what they are doing and stop trying to win awards with their heavy self promotion ( in the toilets )

We come here every Dec to pick strawberries. While the cafe/ shop renovation looks good, there is semblance of F&B management. You have to queue to get a table, queue for 20 mins to order a coffee, wait another 20 mins for a coffee where 1/4 is slopped on the saucer and thrown at you, and after 30 mins served a scone with no cutlery. Just go for the strawberry picking and condiments…

Strawberry picking is not worth the experience. They charge $5 for an adult to go and pick strawberries which you then pay top dollar for. Even the ripe strawberries have little flavour, it is terrible to say this but supermarket berries taste better. If in Tassie, visit the Berry farm at Hillwood on the Tamar, vastly superior experience and delicious strawberries. The shop at Beerenberg was good and this is the only reason I have given the score of 2 out of 5. Save your entry fee and put it towards some decent strawberries

The 4 of us booked and attended A Taste of Beerenberg session.

These sessions can be booked several time a week and run for 45 minutes [nominally] .

They are a tasting of a savoury platter with a drink [including wine] followed by a very tasty scone with your choice of jam, and cream. The tasting is hosted by an employee although she was only in the room part of the time.

I found it all a little bit pedestrian to be honest, but the other 3 really enjoyed it. There were another couple booked into the same session as ours and they were seated at a seperate table.

The goodie bag that everyone was given at the end of the session contained a number of Beerenberg products and that much appreciated.

The 30 per person cost was a little high I think, even with the goodie bag.

Visited this morning for breakfast and to buy a few goodies for Christmas. All three of us ordered something different for breakfast and we all said how lovely the food was. I can recommend the toasted sandwich with field mushrooms, cheese and spinach with pesto and a blue cheese dressing. Gorgeous

The farm has a very good shop, stocked with lots of delicious-looking preserves, jams and other items. Some of the products are packaged in gift-box style containers.

We had a bit of fun at the strawberry picking, but were a bit put off by the $5 entry fee per person (one of our party is disabled and unable to pick, but still had to pay $5 to watch the others). The strawberries themselves, though, were plump and delicious.
