When visiting Adelaide, Hahndorf should be on everyone's itinerary and the Hahndorf Walking Tour should be on top of the to do list of every visitor.
To be able to appreciate this interesting village, you need to know it's history and there is no better way to learn about it than to experience the walking tour.
Sharon was nice enough to fit me in at short notice.
Although two people are required on the tour, paying extra to go solo was well worth the cost.
Even though Sharon has presented the tour many times she still displays a passionate and enthusiastic attitude towards her town and it's history which makes the tour even more special.
She also has access to places that the normal tourist would not see and articulates clearly entertaining stories about the village.
Highly recommended!

Hello Thank you so much for your recommendation. Hahndorf is just one of those places that gets under your skin. Here I live and I here I love putting skin on the village to give people memories that will last a lifetime. You were a wonderful guest and I thank you for being such an ambassador for the village and also my tours. Living here I am usually able to fit people in at short notice however it is always best for people to book or ring first. In these changing times I hope you were able to get home safely. I'd love to see you back in Hahndorf. All the best and thanks again for the recommendation.

This begins with strudel and ends with strudel. What could be better?
We began at the Hahndorf Inn making our own strudels which were then kept for us to eat the end of the walking tour. Extremely well presented ingredients to make the strudel and a helpful chat about its history.
The walking tour was wonderful and gave a great history of both the town but also the settlement of South Australia. Who would have know the Lutherans had such a history?
Back to the Inn for lunch which was enormous, leaving us no choice but to take the strudel for later. It still tasted yummy.
The town was full of people wandering up and down but if you really want to know this place you should take the walking tours.

Thanks John for your review. It is much appreciated. It was great to have you join in the Strudel and Stroll Walking Tour. The Apfel strudel construction is the only food experience in Hahndorf so it is popular when people want to personlly experience our local cuisine. Great choice on your part. The 'ol Prussians' certainly had it hard so escaping from their homeland to come to Adelaide and up to the Adelaide Hills was truly a life saver. Hope to see you both again one day.

My sister and I did this walking tour with Sharon which was a fun way to learn the interesting history of the pretty town of Hahndorf. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Sharon and would highly recommend this tour. Lunch at the homely German Inn was delicious, including the apple strudel we had made earlier. We spent the whole day in Hahndorf, soaking up its autumnal beauty and enjoying the hospitality of its friendly people. Thankyou Sharon & Hahndorf - what a great day!

Hi there! So glad you were able to do be with us in Hahndorf before the world stood still. You were the last Strudel and Stroll walking tour I have done since the world stopped - missing my walking tour folk. I'm so glad you had a great day. Having 2 sisters myself I wouldn't find it easy to escape with either of them but you were so lovely together. So much to do in our lovely village and the day just flies by. Thank you for your recommendation. I look forward to having visitors back in the village real soon!

My daughter and I had an excellent tour with Sharon. She is so vibrant in her presentation and knowledgable about the history of the Hahndorf area. I was impressed with how she involved 2 younger members of our tour group and was able to make the history come alive. Without the tour I feel we would not have enjoyed Hahndorf in the same way. I totally recommend this tour.

Having visited Hahndorf many times we thought we knew the village well. How wrong we were. Sharon and her assistants delved deep into the history and background of the town, its people and buildings as well as the significant influence of the original Prussian settlers.

We added an extra to our tour - strudel making - an interesting and educational addition that was enhanced by eating our strudel when we had our lunch of traditional sausage, sauerkraut and mash (and a large beer of course).

This is a great tour and Sharon delivered it with passion, humor and an encyclopedic knowledge. Don't miss this one. Wunderbar!!

Michael it was lovely to have you and Amanda both along. The fact that we had a few things in common made it even more special for me too. I truly appreciate your 5 star review and the feedback you provided to HWT after the tour. The Strudel making component is fun, isn't it and does give you a chance to enjoy your very own strudel. Hope to see you back in Hahndorf or you never know you may see me in Koroit!

2 of us took a 1 hour+ walking tour of Hahndorf with Lorraine recently. She was most informative and shared a wealth of historical facts about the founding of Hahndorf and the surrounding region.that you would simply not be able to garner just by walking around.

Would certainly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of the town & area.

Wife and i just did a 1.30 hour walk with hwt.
Our guide was Sharon who was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of Hahndorf.
The walk is easy paced and is not a difficult undertaking.
We have been to Hahndorf many times and like most people just walked up one side of main street and then down the other, but this tour took us down the streets behind main street and opened up the history behind the creation of Hahndorf.
I would urge everyone to do one of these walks and learn a bit more about one of S.A.'s favorite tourist towns.

Thank you so much for your 5 start review. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with me to the public. You are so right! People visit our wonderful village and miss out of all its inspiring stories and special history unless they are take part in one of my tours. I hope I see you both on one of my other tours in the future. History festival is coming up with some special events iin store. Happy Christmas!

Although we live close to Hahndorf we learnt so much about the history of the town and area. Sharon was a very helpful, knowledgeable guide who went out of her way to include everyone , while sharing her enthusiasm for the history and town of Hahndorf. We also enjoyed the feast at The German Spoon. Delicious.

Julie Thank you so much for your for taking the time to place a 5 start review on Trip Advisor. It really does help businesses when people do this for us. The German Feast is certainly a feast. Pretzel, German Platter and Apple Strudel. One needs a walk after all that protein. Next tour for you needs to be in the Hufendorf of the village - the original layout. Hope to see you back exploring more of Hahndorf. Regards Sharon Owner/Operator

We booked the Hahndorf after dark tour, very last minute on the day of the tour. This was not an issue for Sharon who turned up and essentially provided us a private tour as it was only my partner and I. Sharon was fun, personable and very knowledgeable of the Hahndorf history. It was great getting this history and then walking around the next day looking at town and understanding that.

Hello there! Those spontaneous, out of the blue meetups are possible as I live in the village and so do my guides. 'The Hahndorf After Dark Walking Tour' provides that special tour when there is no hustle and bustle and a whole different atmosphere. Thanks for making contact and bookign with Hahndorf Walking Tours and your kind words. Five Stars. YEAH!

The afternoon we joined the tour it was pouring rain and very brisk . Lee and Chris were our tour guides and tailored the tour to the weather conditions and our interests while still sharing their wealth of local knowledge . Being of German Lutheran heritage I was proud and amazed to hear of the tenacity the earlier settlers, especially the women. Loved the feel of the tour and hearing of the history of the buildings . Felt like we had walked into a village in Europe.

Hi Angus Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. I have sent the review onto Chris and Lee. They will love to hear you gave them a 5 star report. The history of the village is very special and the Prussian immigrants certainly were a hardworking group and the dedication to their faith worth sharing. June in the Adelaide Hills can be a bit fresh but each season has its unique characteristics. I hope when you return you join one of our other tours and the learn even more about this wonderful area. Danke Shon for coming!
