Amazing gem! This beautiful little country town is blessed to have the Majestic Theatre made by the locals from rainforest timbers during the early 1900's. It claims to be the longest theatre continuously operating as a theatre in Australia! Movies every weekend, just after they are on at the major Cinemas in the city. Excpet for when the talented Malanda... More

Fantastic prices. Top movies that are screening in the big cities. Canvas deck type chairs. Nothing flash but unique. Good food but not a great variety. You can take a blanket and pillow for your own comfort aswell. Top cinema. Top rate actors in the theatre considering that it is all amateur acting. Great theatre. Rustic old fashioned building probably... More

I felt like I was in a high school hall with outdoor canvas deck chairs to sit in. It was so unique, the screen is modern, VG quality picture & the sound excellent too which I didn't expect with such an open gymnasium, wooden floor, no insulation kind-of setting. Each deck-style chair seats 3 people so it's cosy, especially if... More

Only $10 per adult and our 2yo was free. Very well priced snack bar. Very old schoo theatre with canvas sling back chairs. Do as the locals do and taken a pillow for extra comfort!

Grab your pillows and blankets and settle in on a sling back chair You experience the pleasures of old style movies seating.. It worth it and it's cheaper than the movies it self.. Great couple who share a smile and are friendly faced.. Food is good and the feeling is magical

If you are my age and have memories of cimemas with canvas sling chairs and push out windows then this cinema in the small country town is a must see place.

This theatre is truly beautiful. Lovely friendly staff, well priced. The picture quality and sound is top quality and up to date. But the seating and atmosphere is 1929.....perfect, loved it! I'll drive up from Cairns for the night just to experience another movie there. 10 x better than 'Event Cinemas' ;-)

go back in time to your youth with the old canvas deck chair seats. Bring a blanket if you feel the chill but good prices for a great family night out.

Beautiful well-presented old-world cinema with comfortable clean deckchair seats (some double) as well as upright chairs to suit all tastes. Good range of budget priced refreshments, plenty of movie sessions on offer, great sound and screen, and friendly service. What a lucky community to have this facility! Hopefully locals and visitors will continue to support it. Great night out.
