About
The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre is Australia’s premier outback heritage institution. In Queensland’s central western town of Longreach, the centre provides visitors with a spectacular outback experience. The outback is as prosperous, tough and unforgiving as it ever was. It’s where hard yakka, guts and resilience built our nation's identity and why the great Australian stockman – the legend of the bush - became our national hero. The enduring journey of the stockman, the challenges and demands, and the evolution of this epic industry continue to this day. The museum will awaken you to the hardships, passion, bush comradery and industry changes that have shaped the industry that has made our country great.

Great museum that is self guided. Take the time to listen to the stories associated with yesteryear on the self guided audio device. Amazing. The Lachie Cossor show was also worth the extra cost.

We spent 3 hours going through this exhibit. Listened to all the stories on the audio presentation (with headset) included in price of entry. Others rushed through (bus tours) - take the time to enjoy this fantastic outback facility showing history of various tracks, stories from locals and how hard our outback pioneers did it over the years.

The Stockmans Hall of Fame is a place where you can enjoy seeing and hearing about the birth of Australian Stockmen and Women. There are various exhibits each with their own area of stories and experiences. You are given headphones and a player to listen to and watch as you take your time wondering through the exhibit. Each area takes you to a unique experience in the lives of the people. It makes it easier to follow with the stories of the men and the women who helped make our country what it is today. It is not a place where you can just wonder in for a short time. To fully experience the exhibits you take your time enjoying each area.

Glad we paid extra for the show and movie as $35 for the museum would have seen this review even less than 3 stars.
The movie and show were the highlight. Sadly there just isn’t enough ‘stuff’ on display and having to stop and listen to long winded stories at every station got old very fast.
Whoever decided to remove all the old displays of the 90’s needs their head read.
It’s $68 to see it all so if you’re going to go, make sure to do the whole thing or just save your money

Thank you for your feedback and for visiting us.
The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame is a work of great architectural rigour and intellect and is thoroughly deserving of formal recognition under local and state heritage listing regimes.
The redeveloped Hall of Fame has been successfully repositioned within its local context and meets the needs the ever increasingly sophisticated tourist market.
The ‘outback’ content (or stuff) is celebrated and amplified throughout the redevelopment with highly successful and informative digital references.
The 1990’s are long gone. We believe the transformation provides a road map of engagement for future generations. Annette

Book in advance for this popular attraction, especially during reduced numbers during covid19 restrictions. We were only able to see the museum and not the shows as they were booked out for weeks in advance. Very wheelchair friendly, with wheelchair toilet, ramps, and very helpful staff.

Watched the film giving some history of the outback and stockman then went to the arena to watch the stockman show. Then went to the museum to learn about living in the outback and the stockman involved. So much knowledge and you learn to appreciate what a hard time they lived through

Our kids, 7 and 9, had a surprising good time. I thought they'd last an hr but the new smart phone interactive devices have a finding activity for kids and that kept them involved longer than us parents. The exhibits are all different to when we were last here with less antiques and more focus on stockroutes and cattle station life. The new cinematic presentation is excellent and the one man horse and dog demonstration was a hilight. So glad we came back. Only downside was the cafe ran out of hot food once we went for a later lunch after the main crowd but it is school holidays.

The Stockman’s Hall of Fame has very interesting exhibits that explain the role of the stockman, and the life in the Australian bush, from the beginning of the pastoral industry until the present.
In addition to physical artefacts, the story is told through the lives of many different people who have pioneered the industry— pictures and biographies line all the walls. In addition, an excellent film is shown in the wide screen cinema, and it is well worth catching.
There is a very reasonably priced cafe in the building, plus a shop selling souvenirs and lots of Akubras.
The building is interesting architecturally, all the overall experience well worth while

Abolsutely amazing experience. For a Rockhamton born 40 years old man this was my first visit to Longreach and I am overwelmed with the ripe rich history of Longreach.
The museum is well presented and comes complete with a ipod touch and headphone to explain (with close captions on the ipod screeen) about each exhibet when you come near it. I am very satisifed that you have made the musem accessible for people with hearing diablities like me but is a bit disappointed that the cinema sections do not have closed captions including the ultra wide screen movie.
I almost missed out on the live show because I didn't understand the guide but he alerted me about the live show and helped me direct to the entry which i am very relieved to not have missed out because the live show was awesome! Lachie Cossor performed well and I liked his songs he played so much that I bought his CD. My sister is a country music nut so she may love the gift.
The staff was friendly and very helpul even when the place is packed with other tourists because of school holidays.
Thank you for the awesome experience and I will recommend this infamous museum for those visiting Longreach.

Visited Longreach for a two night stop. Very disappointed to learn that the Stockman Hall of Fame was closed for upgrades (apparently recently upgraded). Unable to access the building. Similarly the starlight evening cruise with dinner and bush poetry also closed due to covid. I would recommend if anyone travelling to Longreach hoping to access buildings of note or any sort of entertainment, they ring ahead of time to ascertain wjhether these things are open and available,

No you don't have to book. It's open 7 days a week, and all you have to do is turn up. Certainly a great place to visit.

How many hours should we allow for a day visit?
ASHOF2015
Longreach, Australia1 contribution
You could easily spend half a day at the Australian Stockman's Hall Of Fame. We have 6 major galleries, a day time Outback Stockmans show that runs for an hour, gardens, sculpture walk and eternal muster wall over near the Dr. Bruce Yeates Cottage (built by RM Williams). If you don't have enough time to see everything you can ask for a re-entry pass for the following day.
Happy traveling.
I believe that there is a photo of my great grandfathers farm with wokers i am looking for pic of wheat harvesting and in Narrogin the property is named Rosedale and is on clayton road narrogin
