Small and very personal (max. 10) boat tour. Operating since 1993. Experienced, science-based information. See and do much more than on a large boats's one-hour croc-spotting tour. We go where most boats can't and see many special things that they won't. Many people have said that their tour was the highlight of their vacation.

"The Nightwatchman" is a 6 metre, open-topped ,shallow draft aluminium punt with 10 very comfortable swivel seats. Powered by quiet, eco-friendly, low emission, fuel-injected "state of the art" 60 hp 4-stroke Mercury outboard motor.

One of the best nature-based Daintree River Tours.

Private Tours are also available.

More than twenty three years of experience on the river.

Well, we absoutely adore Dan and his tours!! We have have loved his evening adventures for the past two years and have just booked our flights back up north again. One of the first things my partner and I said was "Oh! We get to see Dan again!!!". It was truly the highlight of each of our previous trips and... More

Mr. Irby offers a fantastic tour. I went on a Day/Night combo tour in the summer and it was the highlight of my Far North Queensland visit. Dan navigates the river with ease and is good at locating wildlife and getting close to it. We had a number of sightings of azure kingfishers, a tawny frogmouth, egrets, fiddler crabs, flying... Last week we took the sunset cruise on the Daintree River. It was one of the best wildlife tours we have ever done. It was really wonderful to be on the beautiful Daintree on a small boat as the sun went down. This was a chance to be informed by an expert Dan Irby on the bird and animal life... More

I took this tour and was thoroughly impressed with Dans knowledge and attention to detail, he also ensured that everyone saw what he was pointing out. Great knowledge of the Daintree and the local wildlife. Highly recommended is the night tour for someone looking for a little different experience. Spotted crocs and bats, nesting birds.... the boat seats swivel around... More

We (me, my husband and 15 year old son) did the twilight trip on the Daintree in August on what turned out to be quite a wet night, but not withstanding that we did get quite wet and a bit chilly by the end, we had a great experience. We saw some wonderful things and I would very happily do... More

Our evening cruise on the Daintree was truly the highlight of our trip to Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas. Dan is an incredibly knowledgable tour guide of all the Daintree wildlife. We spotted many interesting birds, learned about the mangroves, enjoyed a stunning sunset, and even saw a few crocs! It was a fantastic tour and money well spent. Thanks... More

Dan is just simply an amazing guide with a wealth of knowledge. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunset tour. The swivel chairs & the open topped boat allowed us the added benefit of 360 degree view of the surrounding. It was simply a very memorable tour - which included flocks of cattle egrets flocking back to their nest at sun down,... More

We did an afternoon and an evening trip with Dan. He knows the river and what lives on it and why. There was a lot of traffic on the river the day we went so hard to spot crocs. But Dan did his best to show us the area and why and what grew there. The evening trip was the... More

This write up should have been posted sooner - our visit was in late August - better late than never. We booked trip based on the strength of the Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed: we had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours on the river, saw most things that were promised and learned a lot. Best parts - Dan't... More

We were looking for something a bit more in-depth and informative than what most of the other tourist cruises were offering, which was a 1 hour trip up and down the river. Dan's trip was 2 hours and he clearly knew where to find the wildlife, including (but not exclusively) the crocodiles. Dan's trips are 2 hours and they are... More
