Beautiful walk through the botanical Gardens. Very easy walk to Finch Bay. Even for kids. Watch out though if you take a dog. Some non caring older couple with 2 large dogs and one small one have absolutely no care factor about any other dogs and will allow their 2 big dogs to hassle your dog without calling their dogs back. Very scary especially when one of the big dogs started growling at my friend when we wouldn't let it near my very scared dog which was on the lead.
Other than that the beach was beautiful and I allowed my dog to get her paws wet while attached to the lead. Croc nervous.
Also picked up a lot of rubbish from the Beach

Visited 2013....we did the walk from The Botanical Gardens which is a bush track, in places is a little bit steep but there is a seat placed about half way so you can rest if needed.
But once you get down to Finch Bay, it is stunning! Beautiful white sand with the blue ocean as the backdrop and dark grey rock formations. When in Cooktown visit Finch Bay.

I'm confused about whether this is a safe beach for swimming or not. I'd been told it was but the crocodile warning signs said otherwise. It's a beautiful beach, tucked away from the prevailing winds.

Accessed this beach via the Botanic Gardens, but can also drive to it. Lots of families using the beach. Interesting rock formations

We drove to car park if you could call it that. There were a couple of tracks through. Maybe tide being out made it not look particularly atrractive.

What a great bush walk to get here. Thru the botanical garden and over to the bay. Fantastic views and great for the kids to run heaps and climb up on whale rock for a snap shot. Picnic lunch for families is a must or back to the botanical gardens café for lunch in style

Sparkling sandy beach with a clear, palm lined creek flowing into the ocean. Idyllic spot not far out of town and quiet.

Great little bay and beach just past the Botanical Gardens. Loved being able to walk along the beach and not have a care - boys enjoyed climbing the rocks and chasing crabs

This secluded bay so close to Cooktwn is lovely. The great banks of pebbles leading down to the water are unusual for this part of the world, but the water is beautifully clear, and the land falling down to the water makes for great photos. Well worth the small detour (we drove).
