Ocean Safari offers an exhilarating ride to snorkel the pristine untouched...

Ocean Safari offers an exhilarating ride to snorkel the pristine untouched Great Barrier Reef off the Daintree Coast at Cape Tribulation. This half day eco tour visits two different snorkel destinations, each with an extraordinary array of marine life and coral species. The tour begins at Cape Tribulation beach where guests board the vessel bound for the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. After an exhilarating fast ride of approximately 25 minutes guests are ready to snorkel two fabulous locations at Mackay and Undine Reefs. On most days the rainforest can be seen along the mainland beach whilst snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, home to an abundance of marine life as well as beautiful hard and soft corals. The Ocean Safari vessel takes a maximum of 25 passengers allowing guests to experience tropical paradise and the pleasure of a small group. The vessel is based on the original design of a rescue craft and is a rigid inflatable boat driven by 700hp engines. The experienced Skipper and Eco Host ensure the trip is filled with fun and appreciation of the Great Barrier Reef and the coastal rainforest of the Daintree, two world heritage areas side by side. Magical memories like these sometimes only happen once in a lifetime. The Ocean Safari check in office is at the Turtle Rock Cafe and Jungle Lodge, Cape Tribulation Road and a courtesy bus pick up from Cape Tribulation accommodation is included. Ocean Safari has Advanced Eco Accreditation.

We had great fun on our ocean safari although weather conditions were a bit rough. The captain and our guide "rocked the sea" during the 25 minute trip to Mackay reef. Despite the missing sunshine we saw two turtles, one small sting ray and, of course, a lot of giant clams, coral "trees" and colourful fish. An unforgettable experience!

... In every way! Small group size was ideal, skipper & 2IC were entertaining and friendly, while being passionate & knowledgeable about the reef & its inhabitants. Fantastic to swim with turtles, reef sharks, rays and a myriad of fish. An all-round perfect day for us.

Not being an ocean going family we chose ocean safari as a way to see the GBR without being on the sea too long and too minimise the risk of sea sickness. Once aboard and intros done the huge engines were fired up and we bounced over the waves. For the first 10 minutes everyone was wandering if they chose... More

The setting is fabulous but the service was just as amazing. We aren't great swimmers and my six-year-old wasn't even going to get into the water because she was nervous. However, Cain was very patient with her and she was amazed once she put her face under the surface.

We went in the morning to the Mackay reef. Well preserved and full of wildlife, the two snorkel sites are amongst the best we've seen in the GBR. The crew was great fun and very helpful, making sure we were enjoying the trip the whole way. I strongly recommend and will definitely do it again!

Kane and Andy on the ocean safari were both very welcoming, respectful of the local environment and provided a great day snorkelling on the reef. I thoroughly enjoyed the fast boat ride out and back, but my partner did feel sea sick on the return trip - Kane our guide was very helpful, sitting with her and doing everything to... More

1/2 a day was perfect as so quick out to the reef you have 2 full hours snorkelling - just right with kids especially - who also loved the speed boat. Very Eco aware too and with only 17 people you felt you were almost on a private trip- reef is so close to the surface in paces you have... More

The ocean safari trip was definitely one of the best things I've done on my roadtrip around Australia. On the way to the reef the ocean was pretty rough, which made it more like rafting, and that was really enjoyable! Smiling faces everywhere. We saw a couple of dolphins and when we stopped to watch them, we saw a humpback... More
