    Perfect picnic and swim spot
We stumbled across this completely by accident and so thankful that we did. Babinda Boulders is a large, picturesque and clean swimming spot. The picnic spot is absolutely delightful and is equipped with bbqs, toilets and plenty of shade.

    Cool and tranquil
Worth a drive to this beautiful place if you’re in the area. Free to enter, lots of car parking, toilets, covered picnic tables and a little playground for kids. Take your swimming gear to take a dip in the tranquil area adjacent to the car park which was cool and clear and almost empty on the day we visited. Talk a walk along the path to the boulders but take decent footwear as the path can be slippery in parts. Stop at the bakery on the way home!

    Babinda Boulders are quite beautiful
The Babinda Boulders are a short drive from the township of Babinda, which is on the way to Mission Beach. The Babinda Boulders are quite beautiful, they are surrounded by water, and they are popular with visitors, both locals and travelers. The Babinda Boulders site was donated by the landowners, the Cottone family. There is also a memorial to a United States air force bomber which accidentally crashed in the area on return from Papua New Guinea during World War II.

Wow, my sister had suggested we call in here on our visit to Nth Queensland. So glad we did, they are spectacular, I had seen photos but they just don’t do the boulders justice. The scale of the boulders can’t be shown in photos, do not miss this spectacular site.

We decided to have a look at this place on a whim, whilst having a drive from Cairns to Innisfail. I'm so glad we did! About 7 km out of Babinda, there is an attractive car park, with toilets, changing rooms and BBQs. A short walk to the waterhole, which looked so peaceful and inviting for a swim (we were there in August, I'm sure in summer it's full of tourists!). The walk to the Devils Pool lookout is a must -it's a bit of a hike, but easy walking and the views along the way are spectacular.
So glad we stopped to visit!
Only downside to the visit was that we went on a Sunday and Babinda (which is only a little town) is virtually closed! There was only one eatery open and of course it was packed at lunchtime, so the town didn't get any of our tourist dollars!

There was a huge carpark and lots of trails to take around the park. Also showers and toilets in the area. It is not a long walk out to Babinda swimming hole and it is worth it. What a beautiful spot. Shame it was drizzle rain and cold on the day we went but there was still lots of people swimming and walking the trails.
Well worth the drive

Beautiful place to visit. Make sure you take your swimmers (to swim in the calm swimming hole at the picnic grounds) but also make sure you do the devil pools walk to view the lookouts over the boulders (make sure to visit both lookouts, last one is the best).

Tip - take insect repellent, the march flies are shocking. Make sure kids don't grab any of the plants along the walk, when we went a girl grabbed a plant and got hurt by the spikes, she was in a lot of pain.

A very popular spot for a swim and also a well developed walkway provides the opportunity to be mesmerized by the waters rushing through the boulders and rapids. Very soothing and very picturesque. The walk is not difficult and we encountered people of all ages and fitness levels. Also has extensive picnic grounds. Only swim in the designated areas though!!

We visited the Babinda Boulders during this holiday, we had driven past on previous holidays.

A lovely walk and to see the river and rocks after all the recent heavy rains was spectacular.

You can swim at the camp ground end of the park if you don't mind the cold water but you're not allowed in the water down near the boulders because it's too dangerous.

The walk through the tropical forest is interesting with lots of plants, animals and birds.

There is no food there so you have to take your own, we stopped at the Babinda bakery on the way there. I recommend the curry pie LOL

What a pleasant surprise ! We followed the tourist signs from the highway when passing through.... with no expectations of what we were going to see ,& were so happy that we took the opportunity to see The Boulders.
Sunny blue sky with not a cloud in sight ....perfect day ....the sun glistened & sparkled on the water & rock formations. The sounds of the bird life, the water running & little waterfalls was so peaceful, not many people there & so picturesque.
Easy to view & well worthwhile, highly recommended.

We were actually disappointed in the Boulders. Probably because it's easy to get the wrong idea from the many beautiful photos you see online! Easy walking trails and the walk to the Devils Pool is nice. The issue is really with the Boulders themselves. Most of the amazing photos you see of people swimming at Boulders are taken in an area which is now clearly marked as "not for swimming". You are not allowed to swim at the actual Boulders. The recommended swimming area is further down and is, quite frankly, really average. Still a worthwhile stop if you are relaxed with your schedule but if you are pushed for time skip this one completely and head straight for Josephine Falls or one of the other amazing places in the region.

A 10 to 15-minute walk or so from the carpark, there is a small lookout, and a larger lookout down further, both are worth visiting. The track is paved with a few mild inclines along the way, so it can be walked in thongs but it depends on if someone is comfortable up and down mild hills well in thongs, shoes might be better. It's a lovely leisurely walk through the forest with great views. There is space in the carpark to have a meal, with tables and toilets available.
