Come horse riding with us along a spectacular ocean beach on the Mornington Peninsula just 1.25 hours south of Melbourne.No experience necessary, 60+ horses and open every day.People from all over the world come to experience our St Andrews Beach Ride. Operating for over 20 years. Also bush rides to nearby Green's National Park, lessons, pony rides and group packages. Spectacular ocean beach scenery is a perfect backdrop to this popular ride which is truly breath-taking.

Absolutely horrible management. They run the place like a scammy business and not what a service provider should do.
My girlfriend and I paid for an expensive service as you can check on their website, and we were late by 10 minutes due to the traffic (We have to come all the way from the city). But we informed them early that we will be slightly late, which they did confirm and told us to keep driving there. But when we arrive, they simply told us that we were late so they dismissed our service. No money refunded, no voucher, nothing at all. And they still talk to us like we owe them more money. Absolutely disgusting attitude.
We also checked out the track that they go on. Definitely overrated and not 'fantasy experience that you need once in your lifetime'. Don't waste your money on this.

This walk is advertised on the website as a "mesmerising" beach walk in which we "explore the coastal bushland as soon as you leave Gunnamatta stables, then traverse the high sand dunes overlooking the expansive wide panoramic ocean view."
In fact of a 2 hour ride, 90m minutes was spent walking along a main road with traffic often drowning out words from instructors, before finally getting to the beach and spending a total of 10-15 minutes on the beach.
I have attached a photo which is a better representation of the walk than the beach photos seen on the website.
While the staff were attentive and organised, and the horses in excellent condition, I felt the description of the walk was therefore misleading and disappointing. Paying around $500 for myself and 2 children to spend 10 min on the beach was a bit of a let down.

I bought my girlfriend a private ride for her birthday last year. She injured her back and could not go so we had to re-book. In that time she unfortunately had to go have SURGERY and has only just recovered enough to go riding.
We called only to be told the owner will no longer allow her to ride because too much time has passed! He will only offer 25% discount on another ride if we choose to go again.
We were NEVER told there was an expiration date on when we could re-book and considering what my girlfriend has gone through we thought that they would choose kindness over money. Unfortunately that is not the case.
Please do not book with these people. There are many other places you can go that treat people with love not greed!

The owner was very unpleasant to deal with. Made the experience not very enjoyable. the reception whilst getting ready was not very nice. He likes to take you money and speak down to you and very aggressive. Think he should not be greeting people. A real turn off. Customer service is not his thing!
Also being weighed right in front of everyone around is also quite confronting. Surely they could put a screen up.
The ride itself was fine. Lucky he has good staff!

My family (me, my husband, our two boys aged 11 and 14) went for a beach ride and it was absolutely sensational. I’ve done a lot of riding but none of the others have. The horses were really superb; very well behaved, remarkably responsive for trail ride horses, and all four of us thought we had the ‘perfect’ horse. Staff were very friendly and professional. Alongside all that, the beach was spectacular! Highly recommend the entire experience. It was our first time riding with them and we’ll definitely be back. Greta & family.

We booked but didnt realise that dense smoke would descend on the Peninsula. We requested an alternative time to be told "Too Late Sorry" yet the Airquality was Very Unhealthy and the associated health warnings of emergency conditions. The entire population is more likely to be affected.
Yet they refused to reschedule and preferred to take out money.
So we did the trip with very poor visability. A total waste of time !!!

Amazing morning. The staff and guides are so helpful and made this experience so enjoyable we have first time riders in our group but the guides were so patient and encouraging that they made them feel comfortable and safe. I would recommend experienced and first time riders to do this ride. And the horses are beautiful. Thank you Gunnamatta Trail rides for a great day I’ll be back.

Such a great experience. Lovely staff that make you feel at ease when riding the horses. We were lucky enough to get a private ride and loved every minute. We were taken along a trail to a private beach where our guide took the time to take photos for us.
You can tell the horses are well looked after and love the ride as much you do. Would highly recommend to anyone.

we did the beach ride but it was a very long ride through the bush (1.5 hours) for 20 minutes on the beach. additionally the guides on the ride were not very friendly. one of the guides was texting most of the time when we were in the bush. they did not seem like they enjoyed their job which put a damper on the experience.

The owners are very rude to people and refuse to give a refund if they're even 5 mins late or just 1 kg over their standard 90kg weight limit to ride on one of their horses. If the horses were all in good condition with no back, leg or health conditions, this wouldn't be such an issue. Many frustrated and angry people, including myself, who have been treated very poorly by these people. I would NOT recommend this this place to anyone. Beware of the false lure of their marketing and promotions. They make it look like a lovely beach ride, where your horse will give you a lovely gallop along the beach, when in fact you'll only get to spend a few minutes at the beach, spending most of the ride on your horse walking with the occasional trot, walking alongside the road. It was like this years ago when I went, and going from the Google reviews, it hasn't changed, only the owners have over the years, and from the sound of things, it looks like it will be changing hands again soon. They've ripped a lot of people off. It's time for some class action and accountability!! We want our money back!!

Hi, we are a family of 5 and would like to do the Truemans ride together on the Saturday morning. Can we possibly get picked up from somewhere near Southern Cross Station and how long will it take to get to Rye, may we also get a lift back to our accommodation near the city? Thanks, Bindi : )

they dont provide transport to and .from the Gunnamatta Trail Rides. But you may arrange your own transport.
pls book your tickets online and stick to the appointment times. There are some briefings before the rides starts. They also dont entertain walk-in.

They don't provide transport service. We booked the tickets online, and drove there before the appointment time. Note that you have to stick to your appointment time, especially during peak period.
