I loved everything about this tour. Not only did we get to watch quite a few wombats, but we also got to see kangaroos and wallabies and learn about the animals in the process. My expectations were exceeded. I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone. And bring a big bottle with you so you can stock up on mineral water!

My girlfriend and I booked this trip in advance because of the positive ratings we saw on tripadvisor.
We were a little skeptical at the start but boy, it was worth it! Our tour guide for the night, the one and only, Scott, was absolutely fantastic. He was driver, comedian, historian, ghost story teller, animal spotter, mineral specialist all at once!! Some believe he is the only man in this planet capable of multitasking, that guy.
By the end of the night, we knew all about wombats. Where the wombats slept, how the wombats slept, how the wombats reproduce, how large the population of wombats, who were their predators, the list goes on!! Yes, we saw 5 wombats that night but it was scott that stole the show.
All in all, highly entertaining, super interesting if you've never seen a wombat like me. Comfortable ride, generous with the heater. Minimal walking. For the price, 10/10 would recommend anyone!

My husband and I booked this tour at the last minute as a bit of entertainment for our Friday night stay in Daylesford. Everything about this tour was friendly, fun and easy-going - right from the pick-up at the front of our accommodation!
Scott is a truly wonderful guide! He was enthusiastic, knowledgable and very personable. We immediately felt comfortable asking questions about the tour and the area. We learnt a lot while on this tour, not just about the native wildlife but the history of the region itself.
Unfortunately it was a bit of a quiet night in terms of wildlife-spotting, but that's the luck of the draw with a nature tour! Scott's stories and humour easily compensated for the shy wombats!
We would highly recommend this tour as great value for money (especially if staying in Daylesford) and a truly enjoyable evening all 'round!

We took a punt on this in spite of the tragic advance weather forecast. Gee, it was wet and cold and Scott and his mate were superb. Scott looks like the Irish actor Chris O'Dowd in the dark and has a similar manner but an Aussie accent. Great start! There is always a tension on safari tours like this, what if you don't see anything at all?
Scott said he felt it and he didn't let it show. He was warm and relaxed and very funny. He told us great stories about local schools and his amazingly positive interactions with residents as he creeps around in his 4X4 shining spotlights around their properties.
We saw a surprising number of wombats, cutest little critters of all time, and Scott had unusual snippets about them to pass on, also ghostly grey kangaroos and a couple of wallabies and a few other local beasties I missed. Scott and his mate were very sharp eyed indeed and can show you creatures you'd miss on your own if you weren't experienced. He took us to some out of the way interesting little historic sites.
Cost includes a Parks and Wildlife levy per participant. Other basic info on the website.
Start time is earlier in winter.
We were picked up outside the deserted info centre and I am sure Scott would have collected us from the pub if we'd thought to ask, given the awful weather - and Scott was on time. If you like interesting Aussie expressions ask Scott what a " bush doof" is, There's a story...
To top it off Scott's mate found the favourite earring I'd dropped in the back of the truck and returned it before we left. I would have hated to have lost that.
I said they were eagle-eyed.

Great tour of the Australian bush at night with a highly knowledgeable and local guide. This company is owned and run by Scott so the service is highly personal and you'll feel like you're out with a friend. We had a top night of wombat spotting after enjoying a pub meal in Hepburn. Highly recommend!

Even in the pouring rain, our knowledgable and hilarious guide, Scott, was willing to take us into the forest to see wombats, kangaroos, owls and other nocturnal wildlife. It was a fantastic adventure which we highly recommend to anyone looking for something interesting and exciting to do at night. Only problem was not being allowed to take the wombats home as pets...!
Thank you, Scott!!

Scott is a knowledgeable and friendly guide who puts a big effort into making sure his guests see a variety of wildlife - kangaroos, wallabies, possums and of course wombats. He's also full of interesting local history and anecdotes. All round a great experience and highly recommended.

I really wanted to see some native Australian animals, which is why I chose this tour instead of the usual Wilson's prom or Phillip island tours.
Scott is a super friendly local who really knows his way around the wombat forest, and has an impressive knowledge on wombats and other wildlife! It was only 7 of us on the tour, which was really comfortable, and we had an amazing time seeing wombats, possums, kangaroos/wallabies and lots of birds; on top of seeing the waterfall and tasting mineral water.
I'd really recommend this tour if you want to get out of the common touristic areas and see loads of animals in a relaxed atmosphere.

A private tour, full of fun, surprise and laugh...Scott is a humor person, make us have a wonderful night. He took us to look for different lovely animal, like possum, kangaroo, rabbit, owl, especially WOMBAT. He must have a GPS which is for him to spot wombat because we met lots of wombats, they are so adorable. We also learn lots of knowledge of wombat as well as other animals. This is the best tour we ever joined.
Strongly recommended tour for anyone. Absolutely worth it!

This was a great tour, incorporating lots of interesting facts about the wildlife and the area as well as, of course, wombats. Scott is an excellent host, keeping the tone of the group in mind as he navigates the forest roads, and pacing the tour with a few walking stops so nobody falls asleep.
Obviously, the wildlife is subject to change, but there is a lot out there and regardless of what you see, the tour is interesting.
Caveats to be aware: the roads are bumpy--it's forest tracks, after all. It is a NIGHT tour, that means it runs late into the evening. We didn't reach home until 11+, so young kids may fall asleep. You're looking for wildlife--that means you have to make an effort to spot things, and "results may vary".
But assuming you're not expecting a zoo tram, you will enjoy this immensely!
