After a stroll around the lake this quaint little cafe is just the perfect place to sit and enjoy a coffee with the best melting moments. We sat on the deck at the back of the café, however there are also tables out the front also with a view of the lake. The lunch menu looked great so we will be heading back on our next visit. It was nice to spend time looking at the huge range of books for sale. It is a small café so don't be in a rush.

The Bookbarn is a must when visiting Daylesford, especially if you like the combination of rummaging through a wide selection of second hand books and drinking good coffee.
We ordered a chunky beef pie which was delicious. We also purchased two books, one of which was a hard to get edition.

Nice location of course - by the lake. icecream and coffee available. customer service is poor - grumpy man behind the counter (not child friendly). good book selection though, so I go for that!

The cafe is lovely, but the older gentleman behind the counter behaved terribly when we were in. Berated the young man working there in the middle of the cafe for all the customers to see and hear.I was sat out front and could still hear him. Then he came out to me and said he “didn’t know what the young lad had been smoking last night”. I wish I’d said something to him but I was shocked. I hope the young man who was treated so dreadfully reads this and knows it’s not ok for his employer to speak to him like this.

Had lunch at the Book Barn. Friendly staff...I could not drink the coffee..weak. The toasted cheese and tomato sandwich was not good. Bread was dry. We were given butter to put on the outside of our toasted sandwich. Usually the butter is spread on the out side of the bread then placed in the toaster maker...

The bookbarn is a used book shop and cafe in a lovely location right on lake daylesford. Unfortunately the server (owner?) in cafe is a really rude person. He copped attitude when asked a question about the cakes, missed part of our order and when asked where it was decided to argue with us saying we never ordered it. Then put our coffees at the end of the line resulting in at least a 10 minute wait.

It is regrettable your experience with us was to up to your expectations. I must say we felt very sorry for you,in the words of another patron "that poor woman is SO preoccupied with that most difficult child in her care" Perhaps this distraction was the cause of your confusions of what you did or did not order. It certainly affected others. If my cynicism over your selection from six identical orange cakes caused offence I apologise. One complaint is too many today we will endeavour to do better.

Nice café within a second hand book shop down by the lake. Relaxing walks around the lake with swing park and ducks to feed, to keep children amused. A wee gem of a place.

So friendly when one arrives the greeting is always a genuine happy one

Coffee is traditional (hard to get in some other establishments in Hepburn Shire) and Anzac biscuits are to die for

Decking at back is nice and quiet to relax and views of the lake

Always tend to browse the books after coffee and found a quirky one to add to our collection.

Don't miss going to Bookbarn, don't focus on Vincent St without visiting this great little hideaway

We have been numerous times and will continue to

Had a lovely morning tea here. Browsed through the books and sat on the verandah overlooking the lake and ducks. The staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful. So wish I had somewhere like this where I live.

When down at the lake, wander to the Bookbarn for a browse. The staff are very knowledgeable and the books seem to be reasonably priced. The café looks good although we ate across the car park.
